What will be your next purchase? Living on a budget

I just received 21 panels to go with the 10 I already have and that will be it because those are all I can fit on my property. I have 1600 AH of battery so my next purchase will be a Victron 48-5000 and a Victron 450-200. I will also get a cerbo gx so I can monitor the system. Hoping for a...

    Cut that high speed cable!

Yes, you are right. They work great for hot spot cell connections. I had a customer in Bristol Ok. who was 7 miles from the nearest tower and his down load speed was from 1 to 4 MBS so basically the internet was useless. After install, his new booster his speed increased from that to 20 to 30...

    Cut that high speed cable!

I was a cell phone booster installer for about 15 years here in Oklahoma for 4 national company's. If installed correctly they can really increase your speed. The best units are the Wilson brand out of Idaho or Utah. Greg

    Eg4-3000 reset battery question

I didn't think it would matter as long as the voltage reading on the unit was correct but it does bother me a bit. I have a shunt coming but wanted to be able to set he inverter to 100%. Going to sell it as soon as I upgrade so I guess I can live with it. Thanks for the reply. Greg

    Eg4-3000 reset battery question

My problem with this the inverter is the battery monitor built into the inverter reads 20% and has done so since the first turn on. The inverter reads the correct battery voltage on the display. I have read the manual and could not find out how to reset the battery percent of charge back to...

    Upgrading system from EG4-3000

Thanks for the reply. I was between Midnight solar and Victron. I printed out your answer as I can now research what you recommended. Battery's are a mix as I am a beginner and bought 6 200 ah Renogy battery's when I first started and then I bought 4 100 ah Li Time's this year. Running 2...

    Upgrading system from EG4-3000

After playing with this for awhile I have decided to upgrade from my new EG4-3000 to the Victron 480-100 and 48-5000 when a good sale comes up. I am hoping for a sale on July 4th or I can wait till black Friday. I have another 21 panels coming in from San Tan solar to go with the 18 I all ready...

    Waiting for things to fail.

Take up hot rodding. Racing cars will show you how long your parts will last. The upgrade path is fairly quick. Greg

Too many projects, now where did I put that...

I am a lifelong mechanic and have over $100,000 dollars worth of hand tools and another couple hundred thousand in equipment in my shop. I have all ways cleaned and stored my tools after each job and still lose tools. Last week I found a stubby 3/8 inch ratchet I lost over 10 year's ago. Still...

    Rack mount vs stand alone?

I was just using 100 AH as an poor example. I have 6 200 AH agm's and 4 Lipo's and not near the money that I would have in the same AH rack mount's. I guess I am just cheap but build in my system with the shut offs and the 4 lipo's I bought have bms built in. One thing I can say is the rack...

    Rack mount vs stand alone?

In my pea brain I don't see a reason to buy a 1100 dollar 100 AH rack mount battery over a stand alone 100 AH battery. Other then being able to stack the battery's and a nice rack what am I missing? Greg

Does anyone know the brand of panels that survived hail?

Hail doesn't all ways fall straight down. I have seen it blowing sideways in some of the storms we have had in the past. When the wind is over 70mph not much can survive the bigger stones. Greg
