This looks interesting. The form factor is great for those with space constraints...
Not the cheapest, but not crazy either - remember the price is AUD not USD

Super easy install with the Anderson plugs, but I can see people doing it without fuses, and still needs a charge controller, but I see they have one coming with inbuilt charge controller...

That is $1,111.00 USD which doesn't seem out of line.
I looked over the specs and info, looks pretty good actually, as far as a product.
Looked at the rest of the shop, they sell NO JUNK from what I saw, that's always a good sign, and their store is in QLD and they warranty everything nicely.

Could a battery pack in that format be DIY'ed ? It's just 4 100AH cells side to side which is pretty simple even with bms harness. Casing, well that's another matter, probably could do it with sheet aluminium or other materials. wouldn't be as pretty though...

..............Huh?????????????

The Cheap Chinese imports are $250 for such and also my web page says

$1,552.32 for the slim one-But as you said AUSD-not USD, the poor Aussie money keeps going down down down......sucks to have those types of dollars these days.

Plus on the video one of the battery boxes is a empty and bounces around......-no battery in box stand in-, hopefully you do not get that one when you purchase.

I will stick to the cheap chines battery unless I am in Australia and the cheap Chinese battery is banned/not possible

The prebuilts like Battleborn and $1000 USD, Riuxi (crapos) are what $900 ish USD ? Or like that EVIL ShunBin 24V/400AH for $3000 USD which was actually 350AH with USED CELLS.

Still the best bang per buck is DIY but that doesn't always suit everyones particular needs or wants.

The form factor would be a contributor to the price. A similar capacity higher discharge rate quality battery in a normal form factor is less.

As for down down down, only if you redefine 'down'. Been hovering around 70c US for some time after coming down from a high point a decade ago when the USD wasn't worth toilet paper ;) Even in recent times once the corona hit was passed it's been on a continual rise. If you want to see what 'down' looks like check the USD vs Swiss Franc over the past year. Now that's how do you down.

Hey, it seems down in Oz we have quite a taste for slimline vehicle mounted systems. I was interested in these Baintech ones (because they are a reputable brand) but then I found there are a few similar (or copycat) ones out now.
First alternative, this brand has a pretty terrible reputation, I think they were found to have very small lithium cells and extra weight added to fill battery cases in the past, but they offer a proper 5year replacement warranty on this new product, maybe they have "matured"? https://outbax.com.au/12v-100ah-slimline-lithium-battery-lifepo4-cells-deep-cycle-solar-charger-rv
second one is a slightly more reasonable brand, who from what I gather do quite a bit of their own builds but with cheapish import components. https://www.12voltdirect.com.au/~8910009 They also offer a 200Ah option.

Interestingly Baintech have revised their specs for the 2021 models, where they uprating and got caught out? or a change of cell supplier?

I'd love to see a proper review/teardown/comparison of these products by someone like @Will Prowse

Holy cow those are expensive. I am guessing pouch cells are being used for that form factor.

I probably wouldn't consider it considering the price alone. I understand the form factor is nice, but that is a serious price to pay for that capacity.

Remember they are Aussie dollars you are probably seeing, so about $750 US for the 100A battery - certainly not cheap still.

Compared to their regular shaped batteries which are less than $500AUD or about $370USD. Most reviews I've seen of the cheap Voltax batteries have actually been quite good.

I'm currently looking at this unit for my Teardrop camper. Baintech are actually a reseller of these batteries, original manufacturer is www.lithiumbatterysystems.com.au. I have emailed both baintech and LBS asking what type cells they use and at this stage have no reply.
https://www.lithiumbatterysystems.com.au/product/lbs-12110-sl/ . I did read somewhere on the website or pdf's that the cells are metal cased units.

Thanks,
I saw LBS with the identical unit to baintech. Also outbax label it VoltX (without 'a') so may not be same as voltax.
I've also been talking to Outbax getting more details. They've confirmed its a 5 year replacement warranty or a pro rata refund if you dont take the swap.
I've also enquired if the Voltx case is steel or Alloy, the LBS/ baintech is listed as alloy. Since thats very relevent for camper builds for both the reduced weight and the corrosion resistance.
Additionally I have found that iTech now have a 48ah in this style. They have a pretty good following.
Anyway, i like doing my own wiring, so I might fold up my own box out of 1.6mm alloy sheet and buy some cells and a BMS from Aliexpress.
