Ampere Time 200ah Lithium??? Any reviews?

Iam getting ready to buy my first lithium battery and I’m seeing a company called Ampere time is selling a 200ah lithium battery. I would love to go this route because it’s one battery and it’s much cheaper than buying two 100ah lithium’s.

"much cheaper" is usually a sign of shenanigans.

100A bms on a 12V is very restrictive.
 
Seems like a pretty run of the mill no-name lifepo4 battery. Relevant unknowns are (1) quality of the cells (2) quality of the BMS (3) quality of assembly.

I think they just mean the 200Ah battery is cheap compared to 2 x 100Ah from the same company. Which makes sense since 2 x 100ah would have 2 x BMS and 2 x cases.

I looked at the price difference
1 x 200ah = 1300 & 10% discount = $1170
2 x 100ah = 2 x 700 & 5% discount = $1330

OP, 100A max continuous current @ 12v = roughly ~1300 DC Watts, or ~1100W AC Watts (after inverter losses). Will this be enough for your needs?
 
Very curious about this battery as well. It has good reviews on Amazon

but a 100 A - BMS wouldn't allow a 3000 watt inverter?

OP, did you go forward on the purchase? Interested in your review
 
Although not OP, I have been running this battery for 2 weeks. This battery along with a 3k inverter runs everything but the AC. Microwave is 1000 watts, Instant Pot is also 1000 watts. It does not mind the Instant Pot but I won’t be running the microwave for anything other than a quick warm up. Residential fridge pulls about 100 watts when running and it’s stays plugged in during the week while we are not there. Now the Keurig taxed it for about 120amps for a good 3 minutes while warming up the water and the BMS did not disconnect. The vacuum took it over 100 as well but i forgot to write the numbers down. I think its rated for 280amps for a couple seconds but i thought for sure it would kick off after that test. I’ll let someone way more knowledgeable on BMS to comment on good or bad.

The 100a is quite restrictive but not a deal breaker for me. $1169 shipped and it amazingly arrived in just a couple days about 70% charged. They were offering a 10% coupon on Amazon.

I’m in NW Ohio and the sun is quite low these days. I ran the heat all night this past weekend while up on Lake Erie. Along with a couple hours of TV, misc. lights and charging 2 iPhones, 2 watches and an iPad. Also the water pump and anything else we wanted. I wanted this test to be just like home and not worry about our usage.

Woke up and the Victron 100/50 said we ran through 78ah’s. There is 480w of solar up on the roof and with a nice sunny 60 degree day the battery was topped off by 1530. I have a portable 100w panel coming that I’m going to add as a supplemental ground mount to catch more of the morning sun. I think i saw a peak of 25amps going in the battery. At 0815 the charge controller showed parity between solar input and usage. So that puts it at about an average of 11-12ah recharge rate. Hopefully the addition of the portable 100 watts will shave off a bit more time.

So using less than 40% of the rated capacity i don’t think is too shabby. This battery replaced 420ah of 6v golf cart batteries. Close enough to an AH even trade and I’m almost done staring at the damn Victron Bluetooth app lol.

So if this thing keeps up this performance up I’ll buy another one in the spring and take that continuous power to 200amps.

And just a quick background. I am just a guy with some solar panels on his RV and a battery. I have no background in electrical engineering. I still google how to do the conversion calculations and all the other things required to pull this off.

Hope this finds itself useful to anyone interested in these batteries.
 
@Yzviper this was very helpful. I've been eyeing the Ampere Time 200ah battery and then found your review. I'm giving it a go in my upgraded RV power system I'm designing. More at this thread.
 
Thanks for the info on the Ampere Time 200 AH 100bms. They also have a 200 AH with a 200bms. Since my main reason for solar is 2 cpaps, 12v fridge, and a morning cuppa; I think the 100 amp bms will do me. I have a 1000 watt PSW inverter. Ampere Time does advertise a 5 year warranty.
Any additional info out there?

I vote for a trigger pull. It has done me very well. My AC fridge runs non stop during the summer as my wife and I are only weekenders. On the weekends it runs everything just like home. Been on the shelf since November 1st when I pulled it for winter storage and measured at 13.75 volts. Just checked it at 13.73.

Thanks. Do lithium batteries need to be removed in the winter? Don't understand " winter storage."

Not at all. They just can’t be charged below freezing. Our RV stays up on Lake Erie year round but we close up camp November 1st for the season and return in April. I remove the battery and the solar controllers for the winter and store them at home. Big investment to leave unattended. I leave the solar panels on the roof and the entire RV gets a cover.
 
Hi, I ordered two of the above mentioned batteries on Jan. 7th. They are expected to arrive between Jan. 22-29. I will give them a good 24 hours to acclimate before fully charging if needed. Once I am done, I will do a series of tests and post the results here.

I just received an email from Ampere Time that the batteries have arrived in port (California), but held up at customs. Once the batteries clear, I will get a FedEx tracking number. Ampere time has been very friendly and responsive to all of my questions. They sent me the owners manual I requested with all of the specs. By the way, Ampere Time has offices in California to deal with warranty issues and customer support. I have attached the manual for all to download and read.

Just a tip. I ordred the batteries separately to get the $200 off for each battery. They also sent a 5% discount after ordering the first which saved me another $78 on the second one. So if you order these with the $200 discount offer, do not order them together.

Received my UPS (I thought it was going to be FedEx) tracking number today. The batteries cleared customs in one day. I am awaiting them to leave the UPS terminal in Hawthorne, CA. I live in Pennsylvania, so it will take a good week to get them. The expected delivery date is Jan. 29th. That date matches the estimated delivery date on Amazon at the time of purchase. I will post again when they arrive. Fingers crossed they are worth the money.
