Just purchased 8 280Ah

Has anyone in the US received batteries from China recently? Curious if CBP charges duty on them. The only thing I've ever been charged duty on was a laser tube. Once. But since the current Administration imposed fairly stiff duties on some things, wondering if that affects these kinds of cells.

did you get them yet? how are they holding up?
I got the first 32 Lishen 280Ah cells from one different vendor but this second vendor said they are due to arrive at the long beach California pot on 12/21/2020. so probably after Xmas before I get them. today I am hooking up an inverter to the 1st battery bank of 16. wired 2P8S for 24 volts. I will make a second bank of 16 soon. then when the other 32 cells arrive I may try the 48-volt battery bank. the 24-volt battery bank is 560Ah.

My Basen order is at LA dock on the 13th, so far FEDEX did not get the pacel from the dock yet, my last order took 6 days for FEDEX to get from the dock on November. The port must be really busy right now.

long beach California port- typo; expect to be slow through the ports - that is what the vendor says also.

Yes it will be slow. We haul 230 containers per train.5 times a day.
And we are 4 days behind.
Didn't take long for people to forgive China and start demanding cheap shit pdq.

Just pulled the trigger on 8 280AH cells. Choices were Lishen 272ah usd65.86, Eve 280ah usd75.45/pc or we have also 3.2v202ah Lishen price usd50.43/pc. shipping cost for 4pcs usd74.8; for 8pcs usd119.8; Shipping by sea+to door, shipping time Appro. 35days End up withe the 272ah for $65.86 plus $119.80 Shipping for a total of usd65.86*8pcs+usd119.8 =usd $646.68 To California. This includes bus bars & bolts. Still need a BMS for a 12v system for my RV.
Hi there. Did you receive your cells from Shenzhen shouhuzhe? I ordered thru alibaba on the 4th of December. Today I got an email saying they had been delivered and the funds released to the seller. I contacted Paula li and was told they will still be on the train. No explanation of why the shipping is marked as express when it’s not. They say not to worry. Just can’t help feel a little on edge about it

PL I will check
W anything??
PL hello, is by sea on the way
W slow boat, any boat info and or ETA?
PL I am waiting info from shipping company
W ok, seem like it's taking longer than expected
PL I will let you know later after my forwarder give me info
hello, goods already arrive in port, and waiting for pick up container to wearhouse in USA, and then we just need to waiting for to door service
W okay thanks for the update

This is all I know, still no movement on the shipping label from Fedex

Sounds a bit like what I’ve got. I’ve got a uk tracking number but when I check it it says. They have my info but not my parcel. Paula li can’t tell me anything about when they will arrive, or even when they were shipped. All they have said to me is they sent to the shipper on 8th December. I asked for tracking info to be sent but haven’t received anything from the shipper.

No one can give you a recommendation because no one knows how many amps you will be drawing from your battery. What size inverter are you planning on? What are your loads?

I have the 24 volt overkill BMS and I can recommend that one if it fits your needs. Steve told me it will run at 100 amps continuously. And his warranty can not be beat. Plus he is a forum member. But again it depends on your loads.

I'm thinking I can use a 3000 watt inverter. I'm using it for a RV and the biggest load would be the AC unit. I have run the AC off a 2000 watt Honda inverter generator before so I think a 3000 watt inverter should be fine? Although the AC manual calls for a 3500 w min generator. https://www.dometic.com/en-us/us/pr...700.12243863.0.0.3b3c3e5fia50fE#documentation

I am in the same situation as you. It is my intent to run 24V from the panels to the 8 cells. Don't know if you are going 24V vs 12V? I have been talking to Steve about his Overkill BMS as you have, but the 100A limit isn't adequate for the 3000W inverter. Maybe there is a way for each 12V bank to have its own BMS but I would prefer to have one that can handle 8 cells in series/parallel. I am wondering if the BMS would get confused being attached to two 12V banks?

I would like to run the panels at 24V to ensure I can use factory solar wiring from the roof to the interior. Is it best to use a solar controller to drop from 24V to 12V or stay 24V all the way to the batteries and then drop down to 12V afterward?

Thanks

I have also been researching what I would need for the AC. You have a 13500 BTU Dometic, I have a 13500 BTU Coleman. I haven't read the tag on the AC, but somewhere I found it runs at 13.1A under normal conditions and 14.1A when running in desert conditions. Coleman says they don't make generator recommendations, but they do say to multiple the amperage by 2.5 to accommodate startup. So they are saying you might need 35.3A at startup. I hoped that a 3000W inverter would be adequate and praying the fridge doesn't kick on at the same time :)

It doesn't matter if you put them in series or parallel. If you're driving an inverter, it's going to take the same power from the batteries. So at 24v, it would draw 125A. At 12v, it would draw 250A, or 125A from each of two batteries in parallel. Or am I misreading what you intend?
