I am starting a new battery build to charge with solar panels so any advice on what to get is appreciated (I guess I need a shunt, a top balance charger, and an MPPT controler that fits)
I am a novice
Should I just let the BMS take care of the balancing?

Seller shellry Zhang
Shenzhen Huanyuan International Trade Co., Ltd.

Hey brother of the Great White North, I’ve not pulled the trigger yet on my FLA to LFP migration so I’m eager to see how your experience will re-aim mine in terms of expectations/costs/delays/etc as I’ve been off the grid for the last 4 years in Forestville, Qc and due to change my batteries

Lately, I have read quite a bit on battery compression. If you’re not familiar, it might be a good time to gather some knowledge as it seems to influence the efficiency/lifetime/performance of the cells (Any) on the long haul.

Let us know how it goes during the project! Bonne chance.

I'm in Ontario. I've been looking at getting 8 cells through the group buy thread. I've also been looking into BMS modules so I'll check out the Daly.

I'm replacing 4x 6v AGM in my fifth wheel. I already have 640w of panels and a Renogy Rover 40A. I might swap out the CC when I do the batteries as I want to increase the panel count

From what I have gathered so far, Lishen batteries need some kind of compression to prevent expansion, particularly under high use. They also recommend them to be installed upright and the basic stuff like no discharge under 10%

NE Ontario near Algonquin Park here. All of my 280AH's came from Amy Wan Luyuan (1st batch was from Xuba while she worked there).
All arrived to my home DDP without issues (cell & packaging wise)... Couriers on the other hand.. Oi... BUT I am rural & quite remote.

I'm not familiar with Shenzhen Huanyuan International Trade Co., Ltd. but I do believe a couple of members have used them. They are more than likely (95%) chance sourced from a Battery Broker and are either Grade-A New Old Stock or just Bulk/Commodity cells. They will NOT be Matched Batched & Binned, especially at that price.

These cells DO PREFER being BOUND but NOT squished. 12psi max (equivalent to a good hand squeeze), most important in Mobile Applications to prevent rubbing/chaffing.
They DO Expand & Contract a bit during Charge/Discharge and dependent upon temp and C-Rate being used. It is not major UNLESS something is wrong.

See links in my Signature which will help you in your planning, assembly, LFP Voltage Curves and more.
Depending on Browser or if Phone you may not see signature or have to flip phone sideways... It's quirky.

Hope it helps, Good Luck.

I received the BMS today and I am still waiting for the cells

This is the only thread that mentions this supplier that I can find. Do you know if the cells you ordered are first level quality? They are 30$U cheaper than Basen right now

Usually, at that price they are grade b or better. I will only find out when I receive and test them. This store only sell cells and daly bms so Im not worried. Good chances they are high quality.

UPS just scanned my package
RN the package is at the opposite side of Canada with no info on the delivery date

I received the cells and I might order more in a month.
The multimeter tested the four of them at 3.21
The package was outside in the cold so I'll wait a bit and put the power supply on them

The first picture shows the box that I just made and the second picture is the EVA shelf liner from the dollar store that I put for protection in between the cells.

you need to top balance then you will be good. does that bms have blue tooth and if so does the app show charge level.. then you don't need a shunt

I ordered some cells and JBD BMS units from Alibaba. The vendor tells me that everything is ready to ship but it's now delayed because dangerous goods shipping is stopped. Anyone else hear this from a vendor?

Here's the update guys!
I tested the cells with and without top balancing. Results show that top balancing is a must even with a BMS.
The cells are very good and the BMS shows that all cells have close to no voltage difference at all time.
Since I got them I used at least 50% power every day with no issues at all.

My setup is 6x100w eco-worthy panels (series of 3 in parallel) wired to a Victron 150V 70A and Samplex 1500w inverter.
The panels are mounted flat on a gabion wall of the same width

Ordered middle of March, received end of May. Not bad!!

So 10 weeks from order to in your hands. And they are good to go.

Congrats !!

(Canada is on better terms with China than the US and I wonder if that is a factor?)

The longest part of sea shipping is usually at the port when they unload the stuff.
I order stuff from China at least once a month and in my experience air shipping takes a week and sea freight takes 1-2months including the transport from BC to QC. Also, heavier parcels take longer.

I've got 8 batteries + 2 BMS ordered Apr 29 coming sea and 2 BMS ordered May 26 coming air. Also have another 8 batteries ordered May 28 coming sea. I was told the Apr order was delayed due to holidays and the shipper so it didn't actually ship until May 23 according to my account info

EDIT: Realized after I posted this that this is, in fact, a different company than the one that op posted in the top post. Will delete asap. ++++++:/ I want to follow up. This company is now offering "USA stock" on cells at a very good price. Are you still happy with your purchase? Did you run any capacity tests?
