AliExpress/AliBaba vendor options

I've been sifting through some threads to help pick a vendor for my next battery purchase and I thought I would compile some of the information I found here. I'm located in Canada so the vendor selection is a bit limited as some have shipping prices that are higher than the actual battery price. I'm personally looking for 4x 280Ah batteries, (EVE or Lishen).

In my search for a vendor it seems the quality of service and the products from vendors that have been highly recommended have changed over time. With some of the users changing/revoking their recommendations. Granted these are anecdotal by the users on this forum, and those with issues are more likely to be vocal about it. So the below are some threads that I thought were useful and had good information pertaining to this.

Popular suppliers/vendors

AliBaba:
Luyuan

Store: https://szluyuan.en.alibaba.com/?spm=a2700.wholesale.cordpanyb.2.5ed03e0dXY7NEm
This looks to be a great choice with most receiving their orders without issues.
Shipping to Canada: ~$150USD

Dongguan lightning new energy technology co
Store: https://shandian.en.alibaba.com/productlist.html?spm=a2700.shop_plgr.88.17
Looks like another good choice with most not having issues
report of 200AH cell only having 160AH capacity.

Xuba
Store: https://szxuba.en.alibaba.com/?spm=a2700.wholesale.cordpanyb.2.30bb26adIy4WKA
Was highly recommended early to late 2020. However it seems most are receiving damaged cells from this vendor as of late. Dented from either factory or poor packing, customer service seems unhelpful. A few members reported receiving cells with scratched off bar codes as well.
Highly recommended, to not recommended due to poor quality.
Cells were from Xuba

Basen
Store: https://sibeile.en.alibaba.com/productlist.html?spm=a2700.icbuShop.88.16.4cda3183byRKlt
Similar to Xuba with dented cells/poor packing and bad customer service
dented cells
dented cells and corroded terminals.

AliExpress
BLMpow
. Store: https://blmpow.aliexpress.com/store/5040275?spm=a2g0o.detail.100005.1.25336551Y4I5I4
I believe this is Basen's Aliexpress partner or alternative shop but not sure. They seem new but offer free shipping to Canada. A few members have purchased from this seller, but haven't received the batteries yet.

Additional information:
DDP: Delivered, Duty paid - Preferred option for shipment as all the fees should be included.
When dealing with the above vendors, mention that you came from DIYSolarforum and that you will be reviewing their products and services. Some vendors will offer discounts.
Get written confirmation on the battery stats (Ah, Grade A/B, New, manufacture date), in case there is a dispute.

Questions:
  • What method of payment with Alibaba do you use? Credit card with Alibaba or direct with seller?
  • What should be kept in mind to prove that the seller sent a bad product? What would you do to ensure that you will win a dispute? Issue a dispute within Alibaba, or go straight to your credit card company? (I use aliexpress often, and the dispute process is very easy. I've had no issues with their service and getting what I paid for/refund. This will be the first time I've used Alibaba)

Hopefully this helps someone else who is new (like me) trying to find a source for LiFePo4 batteries. As I get shipping quotes I will update the prices to give an estimate for those who are looking.
Looking forward to any comments, and help.
Please let me know if there is a mistake/misunderstanding. Happy to correct it.

I am trying to remember the name of the contact for Luyuan, she is the member here and I would like to contact her about purchasing the battery. Any one remember her name? Thanks.

Amy Wan of Luyuan has been selling & delivering to Canada without issues related to duties/taxes and oddball fees... I get those once in a while because I am Rural & Remote so "off the beaten tracks" so that is not entirely unexpected.

The Shipping GUESSTIMATOR on Ali* is just that, an estimate guess. To get proper shipping cost you do have to open a Chat or Messenger with the vendor for a proper price quote.

Payments can be made by Credit Card (some easier than others) or by direct transfer and now that PayPal has a presence within China, more vendors can accept PP as well (I've done CC, PayPal & Direct TT). Depending on the Payment Type, there may be an extra fee of a couple of %.

The TOP vendors people use here are pretty good. Sure there are occasional goof ups and sometimes a poor cell or something gets into the mix BUT the "Known Good" vendors sort it and it is quite minimal. There are other vendors though which do flog whatever, sadly those are found the hard way. Stick with the Know Good Vendors being used and you should be OK. Remember, there will always be a complaint or two about "Any" company, some with merit and some without merit, do keep that in mind.

I suggest you contact Michael in the group buy thread. If there are any issues he will deal with it. There is no interaction between you and the supplier. Simply send him a message, tell him where you are, the number of cells you need and he will send you a quote. He has several options for cells and laser welded studs and so on.

I contact Amy Wan of Luyuan about buying a set of Lishen 272Ah and I'm told that the stock has dried out, it must be selling really well.

I ordered 16 Lishen 272Ah cells and 4 100A BMS units from Amiee Lee at Basen on 16th December 2020. At this point 17th March 2021 (90 days later, not the 40-50 quoted) I have still not taken delivery and have not been given a valid tracking number. I was originally given a DPD tracking number but the parcel was not received by them and DPD have told me that the tracking number is now invalid. Basen did extend the delivery deadline on Alibaba by 15 days but that ended last weekend and I have now asked Alibaba Trade Assurance for a refund.

Please let us know the outcome, I like to see how BASEN and Alibaba handle this issue.
BTW, are you in the US?

I would skip the Alibaba trade Assurance and go directly to your CC company ... Alibaba is going to dick around and take 30 days to see if the vendor can work something out ... if its been past 60 days then something is wrong ... I am getting all of my orders in 45-60 ... and some as low as 37 .. so obviously they have not even left the warehouse yet ... ALSO working with your CCC sometimes these guys don't want to lose the sale and will push the batteries out the door ASAP and I have seeen it where I have complained an 7 days later they magically appear ... but Alibaba Trade Assurance is a joke

When I buy it will be Amy Wan or Michael. Been following long enough that those seem like the clear winners on trustworthiness and communication. Trying to save the last dollar is not the game to be played in this market.

I dont think I can update my original post now, but I have confirmation that BLMpow On Aliexpress is a different vendor on Alibaba.

Shenzhen Jidian Technology Co.
Store Link: https://www.alibaba.com/product-det...l?spm=a2g0s.imconversation.0.0.3d073e5frUP66V

I should also mention Michael B Caro on this forum and his group buy thread can be found here:

The cells and BMS have arrived and are in good condition. QR code intact, no marks or scratches, terminals threaded nicely, all 16 cells at the same voltage. The bus bars, nuts and studs are good. The bluetooth BMS (unbranded Daly) have a temp probe with both charge and discharge control. Charge and discharge can be manually disabled individually. All very well packaged. My only complaint is the delivery time, however with Brexit and customs delays This is not really their fault.

I posted this under a different thread but maybe this is better since it is a review of a Chinese battery supplier - BESTGO batteries. I got mine through Electric Car Parts Company but you may be able to get them through other vendors as well. If this is just supposed to be AliExpress and Alibaba reviews, I messed up and can remove this if asked.

I wanted to post a positive experience regarding Bestgo batteries, from China. The one I have is a 400Ah 12V battery for an RV, which I bought after many detailed conversations with Tony of Bestgo to allay the suspicions I developed after my experience on Alibaba.
I finished capacity testing a couple days ago. With 10A charge rate, starting at 14.6V and terminating at 11.2V (2.8V/cell), the battery produced 430.6Ah capacity, (5.58 kWh) well above the stated 400Ah capacity even though not discharging to the lower limit of 2.5V.
I'm very impressed with the case and the entire fit/finish is excellent. The meter that comes on the unit was not very accurate (showing 9.16A while charging at 10A and showing 9.26 while discharging at 10A) and Tony explained that because these units are able to charge/discharge rapidly, the meter is good up to 200A so the accuracy suffers at lower charge/discharge rates.
Very happy with this purchase and wanted to let anybody know who is looking for a quality Chinese 12V LFP battery.
I have a screenshot of the capacity test and can provide this or the spreadsheet file if anybody wants it. I couldn't upload the screenshot here because the file type is unsupported.

Any seller will sell you cells/batt,
We have NO idea where they are getting those.

The test is what they do when the transaction has issues. Some of here have been defrauded by sellers sending "damaged", "used" or reject cells.
Any seller that tells you a SOB story when contacted should be the acid test or BRF.

Typical SOB story is: oh no, pls forgive us, I will lose my jobs, they will cut my hair and so on. All lies.

Xuba was highly recommended WHEN AMY worked there, since late last year AMY has moved to her own Co.
I can't recommend XUBA based on my experience.

It's easy to zip it up and .zip files are supported. Another thing you could do is rename the file to .jpg and then attach it. What type of file extension is it?

the screenshot is a bmp file. i thought if someone wanted to see it, i could just email or text them, wasn't sure if there would be general interest. i'm sure the spreadsheet would attach but it's a zillion lines (approximately) of data.

are you configuring them into a 16S? if so why do you need 4 bms for your 16 cells?
