Order a Bluetti EB70 yesterday on the hype and it looks like it will fit my power needs well. It’s for a small horse trailer food/bar setup. Small 110v fridge and 12v lights and chargers. This is my 1st solar generator and my 1st dive into anything solar or battery.

My question is i would like to purchase 1-200w panel to mount on the roof of the food truck but I am having a real problem matching something to optimize the 200w input capabilities. From reviews today I hear that the eb70 has a max of 8a solar input. That makes it almost impossible to find a 200w panel or for that matter 2-100w panels to max out the 200w input (or close enough).

Does anyone have any panel suggestions? Ideally 1-200w panel or 2 compact 100w ridged panels. I’d even entertain flexible or Fol arable but that will harder for us in the long run.

Greatly appreciated!!

I didn't see anything about an 8amp limit. I just ordered one as well. I'm hoping to either pony up for the expensive bluetti 200w panel or something like a rich solar 200w panel.

Thinking of canceling order. Preliminary reviews are not that great. The panel limitations are tough to overlook.

haven't seen many reviews, didn't seem that bad to me.

The panel limitations seem to be in line with other power generators at this price point. Which review did you see that mentioned an 8amp limit?

It is true.
8 amp limit... the unit is specifically designed to limit solar charging to 30V and 8 amps... so the bluetti panel is the only one designed around those limits...

of course, you could always get a 24V pwm charge controller or an adjustable buck converter and use any 200 ish watt panel...

To use a pwm controller, you would need to hook it to a 24V battery... kinda pointless. The buck converter will work better.

In the hobotech review of the unit, I argued with him about the limits, and he and I went back and fourth in the comments about it.

Stuff like that from bluetti make me avoid that behavior,

I’m sure bluetti build the panel because the unit had those limits... instead of making it capable of higher voltage input...

it is in line with products at or around its price point though. seems like its a general issue with these units. The jackery 1000 seem to be in the same boat.

considering the majority of people that will buy a product like this, i figured they'd want a simple plug and play issue.

I have a few 24v panels and just last week bought a few buck converts but have no ideal where I’m at with them at this point. I’d greatly appreciate is your had any more information on implementing that solution.

I emailed sales and tech yesterday to cancel. 2nd time. No response and then this morning got shipping label was created. It stated in sale and shipping was 4/30/21. Guess that didn’t pan out for them to ship when they said. Almost a week later. A couple more poor reviews have popped up on YouTube as well. Disappointing.

not trying to be a fan boy, but i only noticed 1-2 new reviews. They didn't seem all that poor to me. Seems like if bluetti used a physical display on off button, brighter leds for dc/ac ports. I feel like I can live with these issues. It is unfortunate. I feel like if they released test units for review and feedback before full production, alot of these issues wouldn't be here. Mines slated to come tomorrow. I guess i'll wait and see how is it.

Main competitor in this price point seems to be the Ecoflow River Pro.

Pros for the ecoflow over the eb70 - better, detailed screen information
ability to expand capacity
app to control unit
hypothetically fix issues with firmware update

cons - lithium
600w inverter
only 1 usb c port

that one was out since day 1. gives fair criticism on the brightness of the active port status. I do like how the river pro lights are so much brighter. Also gives a nice chime when you turn on or off the ports. The display and app is pretty nice on the river pro as well. I feel like there should be at least a % battery display on the bluetti.

But I don't know if powering the heat gun a lower voltage is a pro in the river pro's side. Looks like its limiting the draw down to 600w but it allows the device to keep going at lower wattage. Trying to think of a real world application where this would be needed.

I can get over the display and the screen issues but the 8a limit to the solar is a deal breaker. No mention of that in anything I could find until the teal ones started showing up.

Hook up a 200+ watt 24v solar panel, set the buck output voltage to 29.5V and it should send 200watts to the unit. Staying under the 8A limit.

forgive my ignorance. I pulled this off the rich solar website. Is there something im not aware of? I wanna make sure before I order.
