Warning: disgruntled customer who only registered on the Forum to warn others about supplier (and do a little bitching in the process).

This is the outcome of my order from Deligreen (Changsha Deligreen Power Co on Alibaba):

A couple of weeks ago I put in an order with Deligreen through Alibaba for some new cells and 2 BMSs to build a new house bank for my boat.
On unboxing them it became immediately apparent that something was not quite right with the shape of some of the cells. A quick Google search for CATL 310Ah cells swollen" returned this very useful thread which led me to investigate further
The 8 "New CATL 310AH" cells that were advertised as "matched, balanced, capacity tested" and "with QR code" arrived bulging, unbalanced with some as low as 2.9V and with scratched off QR codes hidden under a thick sticker on the top plate perfectly cut to size to make it look like it was part of the battery. When I confronted the seller about it they wouldn't address the discrepancy between what was advertised and what I actually got and instead insisted I accept them and use them. When I showed zero interest in being given the runaround and pressed for a refund they switched to playing the victim card. They have so far not replied to my return request on Alibaba although they have messaged me multiple times to try and talk me into keeping them. The day after I sent them screenshots of their listing stating "with QR code, brand new" they amended the listing quoting "a mistake", removed the photo I had screenshot and said nowhere on the ad it stated the cells have a QR code, pasting a link to the edited listing (which still shows the QR code).

Bottom line is there's no way I am putting bulging factory reject cells on my boat, even if I have to take a hit and put them in the bin and buy again. If this is what happened on day one who knows what I'll be in for 6 months down the line.

Caveat emptor.

Looks like another bad seller with bad customer service. Did you try to see if the credit card company will credit your account.

I bought 16 EVE cells from them a year ago and they were fine. Those pictures do not look seriously bulged. Most of the aluminum shelled cells need to be in a compression fixture. Have you capacity tested them?

It looks bad, could you try to clamp them and charge discharge a few times? It may be that they actually are ok?

It may be far less stressful to go that route

Yes I could do some limited testing with non-professional equipment that's available to me but if they have the barcode scratched off they failed QC at the factory where they have much more advanced testing facilities. Maybe they'll be fine for years. Maybe next week my boat will catch fire. Who knows. Not something I'm willing to find out. Bottom line is they advertised them as new cells with barcodes and they sent me swollen factory reject cells. No thanks.

I did. Would never buy from China without. Already filed a section 75 to get my money back

Ah perfect, you'll be fine then, no problem!

I had a look at Deligreen, their site shows 4.9 out of 5. They must do this to people all the time, I wonder if they just delete the bad reviews.

If you paid with a CC, then IMMEDIATELY start a resolution process with the Credit Card Company. DO NOT WAIT and it can be cancelled IF Deligreen makes it right.

I have NEVER had good experiences with DeliGreen and it's ironic as I use a QNBBM Active Balancer on all of my battery packs and now DeliGreen owns QNBBM. I have had to have "people" in China actually intercede on my behalf to get warranty issues sorted. (One DOA Device)

Some people have no shame. They got caught red handed scamming and instead of apologising and refunding me they're asking me to pay $500 - not to keep them, to send them back! Lord have mercy ??‍♂️

Check out the back half of this thread.

From what i've read - I don't think a 310AH cell exists...

You would think they care. Thing is the Chinese are so stubbornly callous, they'll sacrifice their entire company reputation to save coughing up $200. I'll tell you what would happen if they became aware of this thread: first they'll get ANGRY - they like to scam but they don't deal well with accountability and losing face. Then they'll switch to playing victims saying that's a lot of money for them and they'll lose months' with of salary. Then they'll beg and plead making you look like the one who's being unreasonable. If you want to learn to deal with dodgy Chinese suppliers just good le "narcissistic personality", it's all there.

I don't know about that one way or the other. A year ago I wanted to buy CATL cells because of their reputation. One vendor told me that most of the inexpensive CATL cells on the market came from wrecked EVs.That made sense since I knew CATL was a big supplier to that market.

Do you realize that THIS Forum is a GLOBAL Community ?
Racist undertones are NOT well received by the vast majority.
Understand that Sheisters & Scammers and such are also WorldWide and care not where they operate.
The are many GOOD Reputable Vendors as well as "Scum". The experiences with BOTH types of vendors are SHARED HERE for anyone to see.

Please consider the tone / undertone of your posts and be respectable.

I have a completly different view of that culture and I have learned to interact with it in a positive way. It seems this whole thread is about you and I find it humorous that you would not even test the cells. Matched does not mean they will all be the same voltage after being discharged for transport. Capacity is what I paid for. I have inadvertently over discharged two types of LFP cells and have seen bulging so acute that the cells fan out from the straps. Those cells are not bulged. You are also naive about fire risks on your yacht with LFP cells compared to the other extremely volatile compounds you probably have on your yacht. I have never experienced any risk of fire with LFP cells. Here is a bulged cell if you want a frame of reference.

I did not have to Google Narcissist. There are sometimes good examples on this forum.

I can understand being angry about the not getting exactly what was advertised .... I expect honesty from the companies I deal with and also get angry when they aren't.

I do, however, agree with Steve and Ampster, that you have gone way too far with your tone.

I don't think those cells are bulged either and think it is necessary to do your due diligence and capacity test the cells in a fair way ... fully documenting your process.
If the capacity test is OK, maybe you can get some money back for the false advertising.
If the capacity tests fail then you have more of a case for a full refund.

I wouldn't say they are bulged either. There is a big difference between bulged and expanded. Many of us have received cells that look similar and perform flawlessly. Some examples are in this thread.

I do agree false advertising does not set well with me. However what it boils down to is cost per watt hour vs the cost of premium grade A capacity tested and matched cells.

I apologise if my comments sounded gratuitously racist. I do not have a problem with the Chinese on a personal level but I do stand behind my statement that business-wise they are largely dishonest or have very poor to non-existing customer service and QC at best. I live and do business in Asia so I'm very familiar with the cultural differences and the way business is conducted and I would not engage with a Chinese company without some sort of safeguard in place, not even if I've been dealing with them without any problems for 10 years.
You speak of cultiral differences and I will list some pertaining specifically to the sale of goods: when doing business in the West you expect to get what you pay for and almost universally are entitled to your money back if what you get is not as advertised. Products have steicted QC and are generally more expensive (see Victron). In Asia, and particularly China - but really in most developing countries - there is some degree of expectation that you won't get exactly what you pay for, and this tends to be widely accepted so buying stuff is a bit of a crap shot for lack of better words, and you can all but forget refunds or warranty claims. You get what you get and you take the hit if it's not good. There is no thing as false advertising, making things looks better/bigger in photos is standard practice. The concept of building a reputation and cultivating customer loyalty is about as rare as getting a lemon from Germany. When it comes to pinching $200 even if that means sacrificing reputation or a long standing account they just can't help themselves.
To be fair a buddy of mine bought cells from them, got what he bought and he's 100% happy so you may be too as long as you don't have a problem and try to get aftersales service.
As far as my specific issue with them goes, they sent me called which failed some sort of QC at the factory and I'm not willing to be a case study for the reliability of factory reject cells that "are probably fine". If any of the people who suggested they're fine would like to put their money where their mouth is and buy them, I'm willing to sell them for a discounted price. Any takers? :)
