Hi, there is many questions about the working of the REVO II series from Sorotec ( same model as EASUN IGRID VE II ).

After many questions to the Engineers, i finally got mine to work.

General Function - This inverter doesn´t like to work with a PV array with Open Circuit Voltage over 300volts. Be sure you set and configure your array to be under 300volts.

CT Limiting Function
- PV Open Circuit Voltage below 300volts
- having a CT sensor 100A/0,333volts
- The CT sensor must be in the correct direction, load displays ( - ) Watts, feed in displays ( + ) Watts. if wrong, just change the direction of the sensor.
- Working Mode - AC+PV with CT sensor Selected
- Ongrid Mode - Set to OFF

You the can calibrate you CT sensor in the other menu to match you load correctly.

Battery
If you are working with LIFEPO4 cells, in the battery menu , select USER and define Bulk and Float

If you have batteries, and you select AC+PV the battery will act as a UPS, only discharges if the AC power goes off. From my findings the PV only powers loads and batter, it will feed the grid with the remaining power.
I tryed pushing more loads and it got it from the grid, not from the battery, so i assume it is backup only mode.

I also got a software for battery voltage and amps calibration but i haven't tested it yet.

Monitoring
For monitoring, i use Jblance code in a raspberry pi. I got the protocol from this inverter and JBlance manage to put it in the software and it is working fine.

you can use Wifi Logger and the app works ok, but i as looking for more detail, that is what i get from graphana in home assistant.

Any help i can give about this inverter, just ask.

I have bought 6 of the Revo II 5.5kw units. I'm presently switching over to mpp solar.
Supposed to be a batteryless unit so I did not have batteries hooked up to em.

Problems with mine occurred right away. Had 1 unit go haywire from the start with the PV board I guess not work anymore because fault codes come up and did not recognize the PV array. This occurred after paralleling the units.
after another attempt at paralleling units after installing another unit the board on another smoked up.

Only 2 units are operating being in parallel. When 3 or more units are in parallel then none of it works and units go haywire.

After many many messages back and forth to Sorotec and getting no help on why this is occurring I bought 4 of the mpp5048

My theory is that they need batteries and is not a true batterless operation when using more than 2 units.

They are 5.5KW units but will provide more power than that. When it gets hot outside my central air units will kick on and the total load between 2 units, shop and house is over 13,000 watts. They provide the load but of course beeping and warning indicator of overload.

They would prob be nice units if they would work together.

For a stable system you will always need batteries. The capacitor only can operate so far in a batteryless operation.

After getting the correct info how to use the inverter, the correct PV voltage range, the system is working ok. I disapointed that is a battery operation, you cant use the battery like offgrid, in a ongrid setup. If i connect the battery and put it in ongrid, i dont export energy anymore to the grid, like i was without battery. In this mode the battery only works like backup ( UPS ), but im not able to export the excess energy to the grid or to the load before the inverter.

Another issue I am having with running just 2 units is that they do not share power equally. Even though they are connected to each other via communication and current sharing wires. One unit will be at 4800 and the other at 1300 even though both units have the equal amount of solar panels or grid power supplying them.

When the load is so big that unit 1 is at say 7000 watts the second unit will match it. But only if the load is so excessive. Most of the time unit 1 is beeping from being overloaded while the second unit is at a nice 2000 watts or around that much.

Another grip is with all these solar companies is the outright stupidity on marketing. Instead of having a 100 videos going into detail of every scenario of having 1 unit, 2 units etc all the way to 9 units. Show how they work together with no batteries or with batteries. And since their is a huge market in North America show how to use it as a 240v system and break it down into 2 legs. Or make units that is split phase.

Do videos in other languages. I know a lot of the world can speak English as a secondary language to be able to communicate with each other. Do videos in that language bare minimum.

It's down right so stupid to try and sell products and let the customer figure out how to make things work.

It would be like a car company selling cars as a kit where u put them together instead of having them as a turn key operation.

Yes, i agree with you.

The working modes are not very detailed, and i bought it thinking i could export energy even with the use of the battery. This doesnt happen.
If i use the AC+PV mode, i can export energy but i can't use the battery. In this mode the battery only act as a UPS backup. It doesn't make any sense to me. I should be able to use the battery because the inverter as sensors that could prevent to get power from the grid if the battery is charged, in the AC+PC mode ( grid-tied mode ).

Yesterday i has calibrating the inverter battery voltage, battery current, PV voltage and current, and for my surprise i has able to use the CT function even with the 400volts PV array.

One problem i have noticed and reported back to Sorotec Engineer is that in the battery config, i select the USER mode and set bulk and float voltages, and the bulk mode doesn't stop in the correct voltage. I have set to 56volts and the charger only reduces charging in about 57 volts. I dont know if it is a firmware bug.

Another thing i have see, is yesterday during the day and before i calibrated the equipment, the inverter got to float voltage, stayed there for some time keeping the battery at the voltage set but for 3 times it started to charge the battery full to bulk mode, this without any major load or battery discharged.... After 16:30 i has calibrating the inverter with battery only conected and no loads, so the graph is strange at that time.

Do you have noticed any beaviour like this in your inverter? what is you firmware versions?

Presently 8m in the process of replacing the Revo II with the new MPP units. I never hooked any batteries up to em because I could never get more than 2 units to work with each other.

The sorotec engineer said I did not need batteries hooked up to em for them to work with each other. My new MPP are also batteryless but only 1 unit. If I use more than 1 then I need a bank of batteries.

After I hook up the 4 mpp units I'm going to buy more Solar panels and use the Revo II to just charge my batteries.

These are the 4 units I was attempting to use. 1 as you see has different firmware.

I have 6 of them in total

Here is a pics of the 2 units at same time working together. As u can see a pretty big difference in load distribution

From the pictures you have max out the PV capability, since it is displaying more than 5000W in the PV array. I should have divided that power to several REVOS, not only in one. If you are solar only, not battery, the inverter will give as much power as the PV can supply and you are exceeding that power.

The difference may come from the difference you have in both PV arrays, since it is trying to max them out and pull the least amount of grid power as possible. You have 700w in one and the other is 500W from the grid, and that is very similar.

If you had the same amount of PV in each inverter, maybe it would match the load on each?!?!?

Also without battery you have nothing to compensate, and in parallel is always advisable to have batteries connected.

Also i think it is normal that even in parallel the load are not even distributed by them.

But, with this inverters, you will never know.

I'm having a lot of issues with mine. First the CT limiting would functions, i had mppt malfunctions sometimes. After testing with lower PV voltage, they work but it should work also in the PV voltage range of the specs, not in a particular voltage.

Also, my bulk charging is not stopping at the 56V i set, but much higher, past 57.2. Float charging was working but since 2 days ago, it just doesn't. It doesn't go to float mode, set to 54.4 volts. Yesterday the battery just when all down to 53.3 volts and settle there because there wasn't no load. I have set it as i should, selected lithium first, and then User, but still no joy. I don't have any idea why the bulk goes so high since i set it at a specific voltage, but the inverter ignores it. I done do procedure again, yesterday. Let me see today if the inverter gods are doing .

The inverter was not calibrated, and with 0 load or charge, it was displaying 7 amps, not real. I got it calibrated and now it is reading fine.

My major problem with this brands and inverter is that is zero support, they could just give us updated firmware's to try to solve this issues. If they wanted, they could just get some guys to do beta testing, in several conditions. This would do a jump in the development of this inverter, that is specs are great but in reality, just don't work.

I'm stuck with this for now, but I'm looking at MPP or Growatt inverter. The MPP Hybrid V2, it as the same features of this one, but with no touch screen. Im also interested in the new MPP 8000 series, seam a good option for power upgrade.

The Revo II Is build by Sorotec, perhaps that EASun is OEM them.

For parallel, all units must have same firmware, otherwise strange things happen

Also, grounding of the solar array can not be shared.

Manual is really clear about it.

Battery less operation is a nice feature to use when doing maintenance on the battery.
If I start my 2000 watt pump, lights go out
Slowly increase the load with steps of +/- 250w, 2500 watt, not a problem...
(Depending on the sun)

Battery less operation is not intended for parallel!!
For obvious reasons.
If the master goes down..
Who is the new?
How to advocate?
You will get troubles with frequency.

I don't believe I've seen anywhere that battery less operation with parallel is supported.

What can I say.

I have them for about 18 months and happy with them.

Noise was an issue, that's fixed :)

For off grid, they are great
On grid? I can't tell.
No grid to test with :)

Yes, i have my PV ground separate from the Home and Inverter. I already add a discussion on my youtube video with #Averagejoe about it. I said that all ground should be connected to the same point but i said to him the same you are telling me and what i have done in my setup about grounding, for obvious reasons it should be separated, and the ground pole should be at least 3m apart of each other. I Don't use parallel but i bought the inverter counting on buying later an other one to make 11kw.

FYI, one part from the Sorotec Revo series, the MPPT

If you still think EASun has the same product....
2021-6-10 9-10-59.jpg

2021-6-10 9-8-8.jpg

Like said, EASun might be OEM products from Sorotec, as they have no factory of their own, only buy from different factories.

Development is done by Sorotec.

If you look at the date, 12-12-2018, amazing!!
One of the first MPPT's that could handle higher (+180v) voltages!!!

Even 2.5 years later, it's still rare, and stand alone MPPT that can handle around 450-500v ...
I haven't seen them in our price range. (Seen one for $750)

Price and quality, this is amazing good product.

When you match your expectations with the price class and some knowledge about Chinese advertising, you will be positive surprised.

I've seen Chinese led flashlight advertising with 10 time higher lumens then the sun..
I read that it's a bright light, not that it will be able to power 10 solar panels....
(According to specifications it is 10 times more powerful then the sun, yes??) ??

Battery less operation is one of those, that in imagination it goes a long way.
Realistic, it can't.
Especially with parallel setups.
The master should never stop first, or all hell breaks loose.

From the pic yes. It just freaks out like that sometimes and puts a burst of power to the display?
I only have 12- 395 watt panels hooked up to each one. I even have the limit set at 4500 watts in the settings.

With the engineers at sorotec saying these units are good to go with no batteries and will work just fine.... well obviously not.

I've also wondered about updates but since I have no internet where the inverters are at I couldn't update anyways.

When messaging them, it would sometimes be a week to a month before a response back.

But I just bought 104 - 250 watt solar panels and going to be putting them up and using some of em on the revo II to just charge batteries.
So u need to work those bugs out and get back to me on how you did it. Lol ?

These things have the potential to be decent but have a lot of bugs to work out and their booklet they sent with them is downright horrible.

Just curious about 2 things:

How did you calibrate??
I didn't see that option.

Also, hoe did you limit the solar to 4500 watt??

I never seen that option either!!,
Could be special 5.5kw unit settings??

Indeed, great potential, and with the right expectations, already really good.

Battery less operation works fantastic, within its limitations.
Limitations are:
- No large peaks (in off-grid setup)
+750 watt in one time is a problem.
- Not to be used in parallel setup, for obvious reasons. (The master should always stay powered, can't stop before the slaves)
Again, in off-grid setup.
If it's getting always backup power from grid, it's not an issue.

They have people in the field doing beta testing.... Me.
(Not joking)

Many of the improvements you have, are due my feedback and tests.

I have had almost daily contact with Sorotec support team and developers.

Sure, update via the internet would be great to have.
It's not there (yet)

Flashing firmware is not for everyone.
It can go wrong.
And there will be no "warranty" if you screw up the flashing.

I had 2 spare MPPT boards, flashing them failed.
And ended up buying one new.

The display is more easy.

Controller board, you can buy updated version.
Industrial spionage is a huge thing in China, apparently there is some secret code that they don't want to share.

Extraction code from a chip is not easy. Using firmware is a piece of cake.

5 years ago, talking about firmware updates for inverters...
Lol. Update?? It works or it doesn't.

That it's getting more and more "normal" to update the firmware of your coffee machine or refrigerator, doesn't mean all hardware needs to follow this route.
Samsung refrigerator can be updated.
Supertrash tech brand... Nope.
With matching pricetag.
Expectations.....

Please let me know how to calibrate the Revo!!
And where you found settings to limit the solar capacity to 4500 watt.

I'm providing the firmware here, I did not ask permission from Sorotec.

You will need a J-Link, all versions are fine, I have V8.

Screenshot_20210610_133749.jpg
Software is J-Link, v500 or newer.
Easy to find for download.

You need to go from 10 to 5 pin

I used jumper wires.

Depending on when you bought, you might already have the latest version.

If you screw up, you can order new one from Sorotec.
Find attached the replacement part list.

PV zip is for the MPPT, and I can not get it to work.
Touch zip is for the display.

I also attached the parallel installation guide.

Please read them, and if you have any questions, just let me know.

I don't know all the ins and outs of the Revo II, I do have 18 months (off-grid) experience.

PV modules, same here, don't switch the pinns, you might fry the chip.

Also, be sure to set the correct Voltage.

Dear MikeSolarPT , how you have calibrate the Battery voltage and current as for pv array, because i have sane problem but for AC grid. Please Can you provide the sotware and the instructions. I hope from you to help me please.

Calibration software is available on request from Sorotec.
They provide with the remark NOT to share.

For how to get good calibration, yes, I like to get manual as well, as I tried but didn't get good results.
A bit better, not what I hoped for.

For flashing the display, some additional notes:
Turn off power, all power in, to the Revo.

Take out the front panel.

There are 4 (?) Different sockets used, 2 have equal amount of pins.
If you mix then up, you can buy new display and Mppt.
(Don't ask me how I know this...?)

Best to give with permanent marker different markings on the socket and cable before disconnect them.

If you have special settings, write them down as all settings are lost after flashing.

Also, for any parallel setup, the display versions need to be the same!!

You don't need to remove the display from the front panel, I usually do.

Steps I take:

Turn off inverter.
Disconnect battery and solar.
(For me easy as I have breakers before the Revo II)

Unscrew the 4 hex for the top panel.

Check or make markings on the socket and cables.

Power cable, 2 pin, is kind of short, better disconnect that one fist.

Unplug all cables attached to the display.

Discharge "BUS".
The MPPT PCB has 2 power cables going to the top, that have some coils.

About 10 cm above those cables, the MPPT print have 2 screws, bus + and -

Place a resistor on the 2 screws to discharge the capacitors.
Higher capacity, quicker discharge.

While this step is not mandatory, I like to be safe then sorry.

The MPPT and so is 450v and will give a really nasty bite that will stay vivid in your memi for months.
(Again... Don't ask)

Unscrew the 4 corner screws of the display.
Take it out, and use "optical glasses clean stuff" to clean the inside foil.

Now the flashing.

When you connect the 5 pin cable, the display will turn on.
That's also the reason why I like it loose, easy to check if the wires are OK
If it doesn't light up, you do something wrong.

Use the software and instructions to flash.

Disconnect (I do USB) and reconnect, you will have the new version in "about".
Also the terrible beep, I directly turn off to go to settings ( pin 1155) , other, and "beep" to turn off.

Then reverse and place back.

Like the power cable, you might pull out, and need to use a small hand to place back.
Or some pliers or so.

If the unit is charged with 450v...
You won't be happy, and probably kill several things Inside.

Better safe then sorry.

Good luck!

Some about the discharge of the battery during grid connection.

Not sure if you have noticed the discharge (peak and Valley) settings??
In my first firmware I was able to select time frames for discharge, and even feed back to the grid from the battery.

There have been many updates since.

One really quickly...

Discharge is, I think / assume give power to your house or feed to the grid, as some electricity companies pay low price during daytime, but higher at night.

Settings now are:

Now I'm a bit confused about this new setup, in the past you could set discharge.

Living off grid, I never paid much attention to this.

If the battery is only like UPS..
That would be crazy.
It would mean that you need to place a timer to stop Grid to be able to use the battery??

Lol.

I hope not.

As you can see an crazy error like maximal MPPT charge of 20A is/was "normal", I wouldn't be too surprised ....

Dear MikeSolarPT , how you have calibrate the Battery voltage and current as for pv array, because i have sane problem but for AC grid. Please Can you provide the sotware and the instructions. I hope from you to help me please.
I will make a video and give you instructions how to do the calibration. For me the correct values for charge and discharge, stopped the floating from working. The values were all correct as measured by multimeter.

Hello, please help and advice, I bought an inverter REVO II - igrid ve ii 5.5k, from aliexpress POWLAND Official Store. I installed everything and the inverter works without a problem for 4 months until the touch screen stopped working. The inverter works by restarting the system the display lights up but cannot be controlled after the display goes out it cannot be turned on. I contacted the store where I bought the inverter, writing the case, but so far I have no answer from them. Would you point me to where I can buy a display? I am very disappointed with the maintenance of the store, тhey redirected me to EASUN POWER from where there is no answer to my inquiry for seven days.
