My batteries require to be charged at 42amps for the bulk stage (interstate 6v 420ah L16 x2). I currently have a 40amp MPPT epever.

Currently I have a dc fridge and an inverter connected to the system which pulls about 7 to 8 amps during the time the fridge compressor runs (runs about 30 minutes per hour). When the compressor is off my inverter standby and trailer pulls about 1 to 2 amps depending if it’s just on standby or if items are drawing some power.

wouldn’t it be a better idea for me to have a 50amp charge controller? Minimum amps drawn currently is 42a + 1a amp half the time and the other half 42a + 7a. The 40a scc is t even enough to meet the 42a the battery should be getting.
 
depending on your controller/inverter (I have an MTTP 3434ln-pip) and it has an option on the maximum rate I want the battery to be charged. I have my maximum charge rate set to 30 amps, (I can set the charge rate option up to 100-amps) but my Ampere Time 24V 100Ah Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) Battery has never charge higher than 24-amps. and during the night the Utility is set to charge at 9-amps. - This works for me.

My house load during the day is between 300 watts to around 600 watts. After I go to bed around 11 pm and all lights and TVs are off, the load drops to 98 watts unless I have some fans on in the house. When the Air Conditioner is on, the house load is 1.2K watts and the battery discharges on an average of 5-amps.

So I guess what I am recommending is to recheck your controller options to see if you can set the charge rate to what you want.

My inverter isn’t part of the input amperage just the drawing amperage. The MPPT doesn’t allow max amperage. I know I need 42amps for the battery and some extra for daily use, I hate not charging at full amp and causing issues. I rather have extra and keep on eye on SG and avid levels.

Can you link me to your model of charge controller, I can’t seem to find it using the info you posted. I’m interested in the being able to set the charge amp.

Damn figures are always typing what I'm not thinkings. Even when I proofread before clicking post. - it really ticks me off. I just noticed I had typed "MTTP 3434ln-pip". The three's should have been two's. my controller is MTTP 2424lv-pip. - Sorry for the confusion.

When I bought my controller/inverter, I was a real greening (newbie). I now wish I would have bought the larger MTTP controller. Getting the larger controller, I would not have had to slit my electrical sub breaker box into two sections. One side for Solar and the other side for Utility 24/7.

Don’t worry I suffer from the same syndrome, I call it FFFS (fat f*^ing finger syndrome) lol

I’m looking at the midnite classic 150 sl, looks like with the shunt you can control how much amperage is leaving the SCC and how much is getting to the battery and the unit will auto adjust to make sure you get maximum amps
