CATL 271Ah cell issues.

I received my shipment of 4 CATL 271AH cells last week via UPS. Not real happy about the way they arrived either.
Not as bad as Brewman's however....

Are your cells like Brewman's in the respect that there are no labels and the QR codes are all ground off?

I just received my shipment that Michael sent - again, I don't think his issue either, but needs to rectify. No packaging and all cells just loose in the box and badly damaged and bloated. I am so disappointed. I contacted Michael and hope he gets back to me soon to rectify the situation.

My CATL 271 cells arrived today. Ordered 16. 4 were so badly damaged that UPS would not ship them out of Cali to FL. Got the other 3 boxes. None are usable. Leaking Electrolyte. My whole office smells like electrolyte right now. Most or all of the black top areas are badly damaged. Swollen. These should have been deemed bio hazards and not shipped at all. Going to need a full refund

These were billed as New Grade A cells. Yet there are NO QR codes, No labels, leaking and swollen.

This is the 3 boxes of 4 batteries as they arrived.

The Boxes:

These were not packed well at all. Only 1 inch white foam on 2 sides. The Tops where the studs are and bottoms were loose in the box. Cardboard is ripped and punctured where the studs were. No re-enforced boxes, no re-enforced foam. Just a horrible experience all the way around. They were all just shifting around in the boxes all the way.

I'm not any kind of an expert, but this really seems hazardous to me. It's clear the cell terminals were poking through the outside of the box; if they had touched some metal they could have shorted out and caused a fire. On a second look, it appears that only one side of the terminals was poking through...
I briefly looked into trying to order a large quantity of cells via a contact in China and then offering them for resale domestically, but the shipping and hazmat rules are quite extreme. In effect, the way that 100% of cells we are all using appear to be shipped is by simply ignoring all the rules entirely. A buddy of mine who worked in a UPS hub told me that package handlers/sorters on the line occasionally had to handle boxes with mysterious liquids coming out of them, often times perfume or similar, sometimes nasty smelling chemicals. In theory you could not be compelled to handle leaky hazmats without proper safety practices, but in reality people who didn't keep up the crazy hectic work pace got fired.

While I understand that complying with the rules would make shipping these cells completely unviable, if sellers keep doing these poor shipping practices, it's a matter of time until they start a fire or something.

All I can say is for those who have speculated if this was a UPS issue, as in a truck accident. There is NO WAY !! This is a picking and packing issue from China. These were in no way packed to make the trip.

My guess is they're incompetent. If not fitted foam at least bubble wrap, foam peanuts crumpled paper, something.

Yes there was NOTHING between the very thin cardboard and the battery terminals. They ripped right thru. I would assume a very dangerous situation.

@MrM1, you have my condolences for these broken cells. I've still been eagerly awaiting a group of Lishen cells ordered back in February and it would be so disappointing and frustrating to receive a mess like that after all the waiting.

This is absolutely ridiculous. So many cells leaving in such bad packing.

Not a few days before The bad cells arrived, I had also received 8 280 amp hour cells from another purchase through Michael. These cells were packed perfectly.

I think those are the worst shipped cells I have seen here :( I wonder what these sellers in China think is going to happen when people receive their cells like this? The cells shipped by Shenzhen Luyuan Technology are padded to the gills and have plastic corner protectors on the box.. such a striking difference.

I'd also second someones comment about this potentially causing an issue for everybody.. if somebody gets seriously injured for the leaking electrolyte, cells catch fire, or whatever from such inexcusable poor packaging nobody is going to be able to import any of these cells anymore except for those ordering entire containers.

I honestly do not even know what to do with the cells. I fear they are that bad shape. And the boxes are so bad I don't know how I could return them to anyone. Anywhere.
