Looking to protect top of battery with plexiglass

Does the inverter radiate heat on the backside enough to heat up the plexiglass? Just a thought. Maybe add some form of insulation?

Yes I would think so I have adhesive rubber feet on the bottom that will elevate it but also isolate it from the plexi. I did not want it to scratch up the surface too much. At the same time this is in a portable solar generator and highly doubt it will get used a whole lot. But its good to plan if it where to get used a lot to make sure I can keep it cooled.

If you use polycarbonate instead, and you should, the working temperature of most polycarbonate grades is over 120c.

Thank you I was going to be looking into the options as I was not dead set on the specific type of material just yet as I used the plexiglass term as generic speaking. I will look into it, we have a large supplier nearby that I was going to see what they suggested given the application.

I wouldn't even ask them. Just buy polycarbonate.

I can't possibly recommend it highly enough over the alternative, as far as see-through materials go anyways. The stuff is phenomenal.

Acrylic is all but junk. There's no comparison and no point where it makes more sense than polycarbonate unless you're trying to save a tiny amount of money.

It's also not great practice to generically call it plexiglass though because when you ask for it, you'll get acrylic.

The only time we use acrylic over PC is when it's a low durability, high volume product and the customer demands it.

We've actually switched several products to polycarbonate (which the customer was thrilled to agree with) because it was virtually impossible to guarantee zero cracked parts after shipping without expensive packaging.

It is possible to prevent issues with acrylic but it's just not worth the effort.
