Get ready for the Price increase

As you can imagine I get a tremendous amount of our battery stuff we use at work out of China. Mostly because of availability first and then prices second.

One of our lead buyers that lives in China is saying that shipping cost has increased by about 300% from last year - China to LAX and this has greatly affected the LPO companies that rely on shipping. Just finding shipping containers themselves is virtually impossible - with most of them fully booked now 6 months out. One of the LPO companies that we work with, is now saying booking entire containers (40'x11.5'x8) that what use to cost them $1500 from China to LAX is now running $6500-$10000 due to the higher demand and container shortages.

SO if the transportation has increased sooo much why has prices pretty much only crept up?? Well the honest answer is that most of these LPO companies are making some damn good profit selling the batteries to us at what we are willing to pay for them. LPO batteries in China are SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper as you can imagine - so them eating a little bit of the shipping price - more and more - on shipping was just the cost of doing business. (Also lets face it - if they raised their prices then we just look for a lower guy. (That use to work - now it bites us in our butts because all the GRADE B's being passed off as A's)

NOW they simply cannot keep eating the costs AND pay the MUCH higher shipping rates - so we are expecting a large increase in shipping costs for the batteries to hit soonest. Of course no one on the call today could tell us what exactly that meant -- was it going to be $100 or $500 or "one million dollars" (Austin Powers) more but the days of many of these companies eating the costs are going to come to an end.

I don't see this happening overnight - BUT I do see us all looking back on all of these current prices a year from now and saying - "man if I had only stocked up" ...

The other huge issue is Christmas is coming. Any day now Home Depot and Walmart will start playing their XMAS music and the terrible looking Christmas stuff will start coming out. THAT means that YOUR battery shipments will NOW be competing with Christmas stuff to be shipped -- and guess who will win ....

((Total sidenote but our import agent told us that if you know what you are going to get ppl for Christmas you might want to start stocking up now. Of course this is only for us girls that plan this stuff out for months - and not the guys that do all the shopping on Amazon 2 days before XMAS!!))((But even Amazon is saying that they expect a large Christmas shortage due to the China shipping))

SOOO Shipping (SEA) prices are going up - the time to even get the goods out of and into a port is 2X as long - and this is not going to end well I don't think for many....

I don't see LPO prices going up to much - probably 20% by January 2022 - but the shipping costs are going to be what hurts...

Between COVID-19, COVID-D, COVID-MU, COVID-EIEIO + the US Govt printing trillions and trillions of dolalrs that is becoming more worthless every day and fueling inflation heavily -- I'm personally about to get as many batteries I can NOW for MY PERSONAL use which I think I may need in 2022.

NOW - all of the above is my personal thoughts -- I am an engineer and not an economist. Heck I'm not even sure what economist do, but I know that I am not one of them. No one should be basing their purchases on what I say - but with that said - I personally don't see things getting better any time soon - if at all.

We've got 100 days before Christmas -- and THEN we go into the Chinese New Year shortly after that .... just saying .....
We Manufacturer virtually nothing in the U.S. and it has been that way for a while. Covid has shut down the shipping and transit system and with people refusing to return to work, there is no way to move containers. Last count was 44 container ships sitting off the California coast waiting to be unloaded. Which is why VP Harris said to do your Christmas shopping early. Building plants in the U.S with high labor cost is not a real option and Musk is known for low wages and long hours.

So you don't.

Get off my lawn was your comment.

Because the normal response to teenagers being on your lawn is not to shot them, its to turn on the sprinkler. Perhaps your neighborhood is different. Shooting folks for a minor trespass is frowned upon by polite society

I own 2 . Of each . ?
I have two and a half of one. The half is a 22 project that had its new stock roughed out about 3 years ago. I really need to finish that half. And one and a half of the other. The half there is a set of notes that my RadHeatXfer prof was going to use a book. I really should toss that half out.

I live in the old world, in a red state, red county, outside city limits, with proper sheriffs around. None of that feel good political correctness clown parade you see up North.

You get the idea...

LOL most of those guys in the Video look like they have been spending way too much time protecting the Donut shops. I would pay good money to see the lot of them run a 100m race together :ROFLMAO:
On a serious note anybody who is stupid enough to fall for that promotional stunt and get deputized should be told that they will be on their own if they actually kill someone. The Feds will have you in jail within days and the Sheriff will no doubt be fired once the multi million dollar lawsuit hits.

"An armed society is a polite society."
Yes, because that worked out so well in the old west.

When I go to the range what I typically see is that the most physically unfit or older people are typically the ones that are the biggest proponents of Guns. When your out of shape or lack the skills to physically defend yourself your mind goes into a rabbit hole of insecurity. A gun becomes your main source of strength.
I have no problem with people owning guns but I think America has carried it to a whole new level of crazy when Laws like the one just passed in Texas are allowed. It does not make anybody safer when 20 people are openly carrying guns in a Bar or restaurant. Especially when none of them have any training or permits.

As for EOD, it does not matter what Gun you have or where you are held up. Like TWD loves to show, if someone wants your shit they are just gonna wait until your vulnerable and then kill you and take it. Now unless you got X-Ray vision, I can sit 300 Yards away and wait until you come outside and it's game over.

The best option in any EOD scenario is to stay with a large group of people. Individual preppers will just be a supply source for the agressive packs that need supplies.

You watched too many old movies or something

Gettin off topic-way off topic:
Whenever guns and public safety are mentioned in the same dissertation as the old west and/or hunting the point is of no value; the obligation and morality of civilized decency with the potential of life threatening harm ever present rises to a whole different plain, different universe.

This is a hot button subject for me. Because I’m moderate, sortofa libertarian-leaning conservative with a side of understanding regarding our social problems in the USA I’ve gotten annoyed when broad statements are made that attempt to pigeon hole me by association into a poor-thinking knucklehead just alookin’ to shoot someone up or get rich taking money from the poor or destroy the environment.

Approving the right to open carry is not a mandate to do so- and most gun owners don’t- and won’t. The basis for concern over this has at its root a concept that many/most/all? gun owners are judgement- or morally compromised.

I know A LOT of people who carry- some open- here in Vermont. The number of concealed carry folks you can spot in Applebee’s is surprising even to me.
With all the stupidity and other stuff in the culture these days I am completely serious when I state that I believe that if guns (carrying of guns, that is) were a real problem we wouldn’t need the news to tell us about it. It would be oh so evident.

False. Florida is a stand your ground and castle doctrine state. And how much we listen to the Feds can be seen by the the executive orders DeSantis has put up against Biden and its sheep.

Governor Ron DeSantis Signs Landmark Legislation to Ban Vaccine Passports and Stem Government Overreach

Also, you don't understand the true concept of personal freedom and liberty. Every inch you are willing to give away for ""common sense"" legislation will bite you in your ass once you do understand the big picture of the constitution.

You probably also think that gun free zones work.

Your in Japan. You will be fine. Honor is still high there.
actually after watching Japan for the last 36 years (and living here off and on for 30 of those years), I can guarantee you its going downhill as well...just not as fast as it is in other countries.

We are in the Off-topic AND Chit Chat sub forum. The original discussion around price increases is long done IMO.

That being said, we will see many more price increases, our inflation is off the hook, thanks to the Feds printing money like there's no tomorrow. And under this topic, it makes perfectly sense to talk about issues resulting from a possible hyper inflation.

I don't think some here understand what will happen when the US dollar loses its value, loses its world currency status, etc. We are sitting on a new housing bubble, a new stock market bubble, AND a debt bubble. When all that goes belly up, nobody will be listening to the Feds, or expecting any help.

Robby needs to drop certain mainstream media channels and find some raw data. I hear MSNBC, NPR and CNN through the cracks.

If you haven't figured out by now how biased and agenda driven those channels and big tech like Google and FaceBook are, you won't last a week in any EOD / SHTF situation.

We have no other option but to bring back our working middle class. If we don't, we will become what China used to be, and China will be the only true super power, within 10 to 20 years.

When I need something, I search products online, and sort the order by highest prices first, in order to find quality products and products made in the US, or at least not in China.

We can do a lot of voting with our wallets, but if we keep being lazy and buy the cheap shit made in China, we will keep digging our own grave.

Interesting Graph......

I retired early from my own company 8 years ago, ever since I spend most of my time day trading in the market. I'm a member of a bunch of trading groups, ranging from beginners to people that make up to 250k a day.

It is crazy how every day trader who as been around for a few years knows 100% in what kind of a deadly position we are, yet the masses have no clue.

For instance, VW is the 2nd largest automobile manufacturer in the world, owning brands like Audi, SEAT, ŠKODA, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, Ducati, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Scania and MAN. They made 9 million cars in 2020.

Tesla on the other hand is a small fish, making only 500k cars in 2020.

VW's market cap is $114 billion.
Tesla's market cap is $744.43 billion.

In reality, Tesla's market cap should be something like 10 billion, maybe 30 with the outlook on the future.

Tesla's stock, much like other companies are so over-valued and over-bought, it makes zero sense.

Institunal investors and funds managers started their own pump & dump scheme on large cap stocks, with insiders like Musk doing the pumping, and showing the middle finger at the Feds / SEC.

The system is so rigged and corrupted, at this point its only about squeezing the last dime out of the dumb money sheep that bought at all time highs.

It will be "fun" times when most lose social security AND their 401k.

But what do I know...

The countries with the highest individual GDP do not have a substantial industry base

And what do you think will happen when "we" are all a bunch of lazy losers on government's tit, with mostly useless arts degrees, fading innovation, zero competitiveness, a youth that is addicted to staying at home and playing video games, zero skills?

What do you think how long it will take, to be taken advantage of by other nations that don't sit around and give up their independence and powers? We leave Afghanistan behind, China moved right in.

Chinas individual GDP increased by 12.36% in 2018, before covid. Do you understand what that means? Their industry base is the reason why they will surpass our GDP in 2026!

Surpass GDP or surpass GDP per person?

I like your insights. I feel all the solar stuff we are buying may be a good investment as a commodity after the collapse.
Kinda like a hobby and investment at the same time, like fixing up houses and renting them out.
It amazes me how bad Gold and Silver, along with Bitcoin are being manipulated, but its hard for the little guy to invest in SDR buckets.

There are few options. I dumped all my stocks long ago, and did fairly well with Crypto so far, but I am thinking commodities and tangible assets will probably be the best hedges when it collapses. Its going to shock a LOT of people when it hits, cause its going to hit HARD. College kids sitting home collecting the $600 gov handouts to stay home and play video games will be hit the hardest, but they probably voted for it.

Over $2 Trillion manufacturing in the U.S.

China something not quite 2x U.S. manufacturing, a bit under $4 Trillion. With 4x the population. So a bit under half the (dollar volume) manufacturing per capita.

Either way you look at it Chinas going to have a crash here as well fairly soon they’re facing A diminishing population just like America and Japan. Its not quite as bad yet but going there. the only countries that are really pumping out lots of bodies are they really poor countries places like India Mexico South America that’s where all the bodies are coming from places with graying populations are going to hurt either way goes
