Get ready for the Price increase

We are in the Off-topic AND Chit Chat sub forum. The original discussion around price increases is long done IMO.

That being said, we will see many more price increases, our inflation is off the hook, thanks to the Feds printing money like there's no tomorrow. And under this topic, it makes perfectly sense to talk about issues resulting from a possible hyper inflation.

I don't think some here understand what will happen when the US dollar loses its value, loses its world currency status, etc. We are sitting on a new housing bubble, a new stock market bubble, AND a debt bubble. When all that goes belly up, nobody will be listing to the Feds, or expecting any help.

Robby needs to drop certain mainstream media channels and find some raw data. I hear MSNBC, NPR and CNN through the cracks.

If you haven't figured out by now how biased and agenda driven those channels and big tech like Google and FaceBook are, you won't last a week in any EOD / SHTF situation.
I don't watch CNBC, CNN or Fox news, although I suspect you do watch a lot of Fox news and OWN.
Sadly I have to get most of my news from AP, Reuters, BBC, RT and NBC. It does not matter much anyway, as it's pretty easy to see when a story has an agenda, and Fox, OWN, CNBC and CNN are all about Agendas.

As for the FED printing money. I think every major country has been printing tons of money since Covid began.
What exactly do you think the US dollar is going to lose it's value against? Almost 80% of world trade is done in US currency! Do you think China wants Rubles when it sells goods to Russia or that Russia will accept a payment in Yens when it sells oil to China? If the US$ Tanks it takes every country with it as almost all of them even the despot countries keep their reserves in US$. Even the bloody Taliban kept their money in America!

Yes there is most certainly a Bubble in place right now and it's a huge one! I am not going to pretend to know how this will all fall out as this is completely new territory that we are in. The Bubble is literately happening in all sectors and in almost every country.

I like your insights. I feel all the solar stuff we are buying may be a good investment as a commodity after the collapse.
Kinda like a hobby and investment at the same time, like fixing up houses and renting them out.
It amazes me how bad Gold and Silver, along with Bitcoin are being manipulated, but its hard for the little guy to invest in SDR buckets.

There are few options. I dumped all my stocks long ago, and did fairly well with Crypto so far, but I am thinking commodities and tangible assets will probably be the best hedges when it collapses. Its going to shock a LOT of people when it hits, cause its going to hit HARD. College kids sitting home collecting the $600 gov handouts to stay home and play video games will be hit the hardest, but they probably voted for it.

If it gets ugly, skills, land owned, tools, guns and ammo will be the best asset around. I'm not invested in the stock market at all. My trades last in average a couple seconds, up to 5 minutes at best. Only high momentum small cap gappers that are completely detached from the market and any political news.

I'm not sure how other countries will react to a US based depression, but I do know that many try to get away from the US dollar.

AP, Reuters, BBC, RT and NBC all have a left leaning or outright left narrative these days.

I watch C-SPAN online at times for raw data, I long cut cable TV back in 2008. I use DuckDuckGo to search for info, knowing that Google / YouTube shadow bans, de-ranks, de-lists, demonetizes or outright cancels content and content creators that don't fit their pro Dem / pro left leaning / pro liberal / anti American / anti conservative agenda.

Buy and read this book, it has over 900 sources for evidence. It will be a truly red pill.

Either way you look at it Chinas going to have a crash here as well fairly soon they’re facing A diminishing population just like America and Japan.
Actually China is going to have it a lot worst than the USA.
We actually have a country that people like to migrate to, so we in effect have a population control valve.
This is of course a hot button topic that will no doubt send McCarthy and Sanwizard into fits.
I am not in favor of the illegal immigration and actually agree that Trump had the right idea, but he implemented it very poorly.

Now when we talk about legal immigration people have no idea how much we benefit from this and how much other countries hate us for it. I know for a fact that there are procedures in place that are designed to siphon off the best and the brightest from many countries across the world. You look at the Software industry and you will see predominantly one or two types of foreigners that have been bought in. If you look in the Hospitals you will find the majority of foriegn nurses come from one or two countries. We identify countries that have schools that excel in producing people that are brilliant in certain fields and we openly offer them a path to migrate to the USA.
The side effect is that we Brain drain these countries who have in most cases paid for their education and get back nothing in return.

Get away from it and go with what? Everything is going south fast but the smart money says that the USA will recover the fastest.

Every country has the right to decide who to let visit, work, or become a citizen.
I think immigration laws, enforcement, and practice should be aligned.
Presently, we rely on agricultural and construction workers who aren't legally allowed here. Sometimes, there are raids by authorities. And, there are "Sanctuary Cities", where violent felons are deliberately released onto the streets to keep the Feds from deporting them.
I think the nation should decide who it wants doing various work, allows those people here, decide who it doesn't want here, and keep out/kick out those not allowed. Any local governments who violate those laws should be dealt with accordingly. Like jailing the officials.

I also want to see welfare eliminated. Workfare, to ensure no one starves.
If you have children, they are your (and the father's) financial responsibility. No one else's, so no welfare for that either.
Single moms can take turns as child care workers so other single moms can go to their workfare.
Reproduction does not qualify for a free ride.

I have some VERY related experiences to that topic. I was not born in the US. I grew up in Germany and left for 3 reasons:

- I was sick and tired of high taxes (51% income tax, 19% sales tax, high taxes on gas, property taxes, etc). 3/4th of my income went to the government.
- I was sick and tired of way too many regulations and laws that controlled every aspect of my life and my company
- I was offered to immigrate to the US by a former NC governor, if I would bring my company and related jobs to the states, which I did.

Do you have any idea how I feel these days, watching Biden talking about increasing corporate and income taxes, causing gas prices to go up by making us depended on foreign markets, by canceling the Keystone pipeline and other measures? He also plans to tax day trading, yet another limitation for me. How motivated may I be to stay here?

Look at states like California where they implemented those same left wing laws, high taxes and polices from the political left. People are fleeing the state for places like Texas and Florida where we don't have state income tax, less regulations, lower living costs, more personal rights. In parts you already see the same happening on a national level. People you actually want to keep around, like those with engineering degrees, with skills and business owners are long searching for alternatives outside the US. Remember my post regarding going back to Europe?

Those people that still want to come to the US these days, don't bring degrees, knowledge, or assets. Many of those illegals are criminals, or they become criminal the moment they enter without permit.

At this point, since this year, the US is heading the wrong direction.

Robby, You will learn, but for you my friend, it will most likely have to be the hard way.
Do yourself a favor. Take a holiday in Maimi. Go out to a cafe, and have a coffee with some of the Cubans living there. They will give you a real life, non media biased education on leftist leaning politics. Bernie supporters typically have an awakening once they find out what the REAL deal is.

Then take a cross country trip. Have a nice ride through St Louis, about 10 blocks west of the arch. Check out Baltimore, walk around San Francisco, LA, Manhattan, Chicago, Detroit, Austin Tx.
You will find one theme in all those places. Every one was a dynamic thriving beautiful community under republican administration. Once they became democrat strongholds, all money went into the pockets of the corrupt, policies were changed to be politically correct, gun laws enforced, taxes raises for "better services". Good hard working people fled, and they became what they are today. Shitholes. Democrat rule = Shithole outcome.
Under Guliani, NY was an oasis, disneyland. After deblasio, NY is a crime ridden shithole, and people are fleeing. It will become like all the rest soon, as the polls are rigged. Open your eyes.

You are not wrong gandolf... but screaming does not work with the baffled masses who support crap like bernie. better off to remind them of it repeatedly and hope it sinks in....if it does not then when the SHTF you can break out a club and beat them to death.

I’m a people and I love immigrants

Had my haircut a few weeks back from a guy that literally risked life and limb in the 1950s to escape…the baloney of communism and suffering he saw that didn’t exist when he was a child

Very fascinating guy and conversation- at this point he might not ‘need’ it but I gave him a wicked good tip just because he’s a fellow American that immigrated here.

The cross-section of Americans watch tv for information AND don’t know history (or don’t want to).
While I can’t change or wright the ‘sins of the past’ I don’t have to repeat them, personally; the USA is a great country. We have flaws- what kills me is we’re creating more by government action and inaction due to uninformed ignorant popular opinion.

Demand may be escalating shipping costs from China. However, big companies anywhere work on 18 and 60 month economics: consumers generally function 30 days to maybe 6 months or a year. Generally. Shipping costs are also escalating because the offshore company’s economics reality is recognizing inflation (declining currency value) and are responding to keep their 18-month economics viable.

Further, a certain political side of the aisle that promotes printing money and is motivated to pay out cash also has ridden a platform against ‘the rich’ and demonizing big businesses. However, they are ironically creating a circumstance that benefits the big-dollar players they despise: the rich are now able- and increasingly so- to pay off yesterday’s debt value with discounted cash. If they borrowed at X value they are paying back at X-20% or whatever the current real value is. Even the stock market: a lot of stock prices are “up” not because of increased value, but due to static value that takes more ‘cash’ to obtain the same value.

I’m not smart enough to say whether we’ve passed a pint of recovery but I wonder…

I spent the first 8 years on Miami Beach, still in contact with a couple Cuban friends. The vast majority of them are conservatives and can't believe that Americans are stupid enough to vote for polices and a party that is heading into the same direction as Cuba.

I miss the views from my Condo, but even Miami Dade and especially Broward County are turning into liberal crapholes. I left in 2014.

Man, you guys are sooo depressing. I am a die hard capitalist, but I think you gotta pay your folks enough to live on. Ford sure as hell believed that. And what you gonna eat when all that nasty prepper food is gone? With a group of 30 or 40 decent people, you can have farmers, hunters, blacksmiths, tanners, herders, and maybe even a bard or too. And feed a couple of bad-ass youngsters toe keep an eye out for trouble. If it gets to the EOT(which anti-social nuts have been predicting since the times of Moses) I would rather have a big enough group so I didn't have to sleep with on eye open. Humans developed civilization for a reason folks. Does the name Custer ring a bell?

What exactly do you call 2 world wars and a ton of other wars and times when millions of people died, lived in poverty, under dictatorships, and in fear? A vacation on Coney Island?

By the way, I'm not much of a prepper. I live on a small lake with plenty of fish, I know how to hunt, survive and defend myself, but I rather get out.

Government: No worries sir! Here, take your shot, and get you and your group on the train. Everyone's going on an all you can eat picnic!

Well given we are having this conversation, they were not.. THE END TIMES. So, things get bad, and then they get better. Thus the wheel turns

Most consider EOD and SHTF a condition that is survivable and not final. Things like a civil war or a true pandemic that wipes out half the country.

If you take it literally or biblical, it doesn't even matter what we do, so this turns your assumption entirely useless. If we all die, there is no point in preparation or discussion.

LOL I use to live in Kendal so no need, I have been to a few Cuban coffee shops.
Actually it amazes me that a right winger like yourself could get so enamored by a group of people who live in the United States but actually have no interest in being Americans. The bloody annoying part about living in Miami is walking into every store and everyone is speaking to you in Spanish. I was in Sears and they could not find an employee on the floor that spoke English! And why should they learn English? Our tax dollars go towards making sure every road has Bilingual signs, every school has Bilingual classes and we even make sure that they have as many Spanish TV channels as possible. Cubans don't give a crap about Republican ideology, they are just collectively mad that the Democrats let Castro take over Cuba, so they will vote for anything that hurts the Democrats. And that opinion comes from living there not just visiting.

Cubans in Miami screwed themselves when they flaunted their wealth and made the majority of Cubans feel like second class citizens. The masses rose up and took back the land and properties and the rich fled. It's pretty hard to find a black Cuban in Miami yet Cuba itself is a mixed population (Hmmm wonder if that had anything to do with it). Cubans keep on deluding themselves into thinking that Castro is the problem. Even after six decades and the Castro brothers gone, they don't understand that the Cuban people themselves don't want them back. I know because I have met several Cuban Nationals working abroad on contract and they have no desire to migrate from Cuba nor do they like the "elitist" Cubans in Miami . Right now there is nothing stopping a Cuban from getting on a boat and making the 90 mile trek to Florida and have instant sanctuary. If the people in Cuba are so unhappy why is it that we don't see thousands of them heading over here? Honestly I don't need to hear crap from Cubans in Miami, they created their own situation and now they live here and have transformed a section of America into their own Havana.
