JBD BMS Help

I'm also about to build my first couple batteries and will likely order JBD BMSs.

I like the idea of a screen that display pack voltage, cell voltage, and current. The SOC may be off but even if it's close that's nice. Not having to connect to bluetooth every time I want to check up on things is a plus for me.

Fidelia at JBD claims the BMS can be ordered with both UART and RS485 ports to allow simultaneous use of the bluetooth and touch screen. Has anyone done that? See any problems?

Does RS485 and UART use same protocol ( commands ) ?

Thanks JJ. I got one from jbd direct in the end. Good delivery. Poor communication.

Yes, I recommend staying below 0.5C and for the 280AH cells, that's 140 amps.

The 150 amp JBD BMS is quite good. Fewer problems than a Daly, they just don't speak much English.

I did ask them if I could put the BMS in an airtight box to prevent it from water ingress, but they didn't reply.

I don't know, but I am able to use Bluetooth and the touch screen simultaneously with the Bluetooth connected to UART and screen to RS485 port.
Bluetooth updates rate is higher than the screen (for instance, current reading on my phone will do a better job of following quick changes in load than the touch screen). But I can see cell voltages without a phone etc. I'm glad I installed the screen.
