Seplos CAN BUS RS485 48v 200A 8S-16S BMS

but do you have a 24 v version or the 48v version
if your question is about the bms : i believe this is only an issue with the 48 v
i am fortunatly not impacted, by looking at my date code

if it is about the rs485 to canbus.. it doesnt matter

not directly...
had a solution going on using a raspi, but that hasnt very stable.
have trying to push seplos to update their firmware, so it will talk the pylontec protocol over 1 of the rs485 ports, but so far nothing.

i contacted voltronics, as my inverters documentation stated the bms port is a dual CANBUS and rs485.
they confirmed it was, but stated the CANBUS for now is "reserved".

currently looking in to a commercial rs485 to CANBUS , developed in south africa , specificly for voltronics to canbus battery comms.
it's about 60 euro ( 70 USD) and made by bonanza tech
You need to change the setting in the Battery monitor to Canbus pylon not rs485

if using a non native solution like the raspi or f-won device indeed.

point is.. i am trying to get seplos to make one their native rs485 ports to talk the pylontech protocol directly.
there isnt any difference in protocol, but it would remove the need for a third party device.

on a hardware level there is no change needed, just firmware

Would people still recommend this BMS if building a DIY pack and wanting it to communicate with Sofar (or similar) inverter/chargers? It seems one of the few that will talk these industry protocols?

i certainly would.
even with a certain diode from.a bad batch that may break, to me , seplos seems to work towards the quickest fix by sending new diodes without breaking your warantee.
should the repair fail, they will provide a replacement bms

so far i have been really happy with mine

Thanks for the info, where did you order yours from?

I have been trying to pry the CANBUS protocol out of MPP for a while now, and I just received this PDF, but its only RS485 MODBUS. Im starting to believe the LV6548 has no CANBUS and MPP is lying.

Confirmation from MPP finally,
this is what i already reported as an answer feom voltronic.
and to be very clear , the port in fact is can and rs485, but "can is reserved", meaning it functioning as canbus is disabled in the software

I'm confused, the LV6548 specifically states that it support Pylontech battery modules, the Seplos BMS has Pylontech emulation using your own LFP cells and is selectable on the Battery management software for both CAN & RS485 communications. 1637781866471.png

Yup, it also states very clearly in the manual that it supports CANBUS. But they are clearly liars.

unfortunatly the seplos bms only supports pylontech over canbus ( untill they update their firmware)
the rs485 is only meant for pc connections and their management software.

the voltronic's/mpp solar pylontech protocol only uses the rs485 port, while their bms port is a dual canbus/rs485 , they have disabled the canbus part on it, and as they stated, the canbus status so far is "reserved"

i've asked my supplier to push voltronic a bit the enable the canbus, but supplier had little hope he would be able to get it done.

at the same time , i have been pushing seplos to update their firmware to support the pylontech over one of the rs485 ports, but thus far i havent seen any movement.

as i suggested to @Sanwizard in a pm, it might help if more people start pushing seplos to do so , as i believe it will be easier to get seplos to move rather than voltronic/mpp-solar
i also believe the change would be smaller for seplos to do so in their firmware, since they have both canbus and rs485 active already

That's very disappointing, the seplos software even has the option to select RS485 for comms and CAN

@Seplos Chris Ren, are you taking note of these requests? I will have 6 of your BMS's once they finally show up, and myself and many others would appreciate comms with MPP Solar. Please advise.
