Hi i currently have a daly smart bms 36v 10s 5p li-ion battery.
I used this briefly in golf cart, and looking to convert the battery pack to 12v 4s 12p configuration and wondering if i can change the configuration on bms to 4s using only 4 monitor cables. Looks like the bms app on phone can be configured with different voltage and cell number can be adjusted in the settings. (See screenshot)

Wondering if bms is hardcoded to be using 10 monitoring cables or it's ok to connect only 4?

Anyone has experience with this?

Thanks

If a BMS can handle different numbers of cells it is usually titled as "4s - 10s", meaning that there is a range. If it is titled simply at "4s" then it must have four cells that it connects to. My guess is that your BMS cannot be used on a 4s battery. Hopefully someone with experience with that BMS will provide more information.

Hi thanks. I actually ask the question to support and you are right... got this answer from them...

Dear customer
Our BMS cannot change the number of strings (S) for use. Because changing the number of strings (S) of the BMS will cause the current transmission to change, causing the BMS to burn.
The BMS we produce is a fixed number of strings (s) used on a fixed battery pack.
For example, 4s BMS can only be used on 4s battery packs, and cannot be used on battery packs with other strings.

Just in case someone else is wondering...
