JiKong (JK) (Neey/Hankzor/HelTec/etc) Smart BMS with Active Balancer BT/Can/RS485 (Input Discussion pre-purchase)

I looked at all the vendors/resellers I posted into the title, HankZor had the most complete information and links to the GitHub Repo.
As for ICGoGoGo I've already been totally suckered by them before (as have many others), never doing that again.

What's up with them? I haven't bought BMS's for a while, but the last time I did everybody was using them.

Does anyone know what is exact type of connector used for RS-485? I already had RS-485 USB converter cable, so I did not order the original RS-485 cable, but I'm missing the BMS side connector and nothing I have does match

You need a JST 1.25mm connector for that, like is available here

In one of the videos in the Off-Grid Garage, Andy comments about the 7ga wires for the B- & C- battery connection being too small to carry the rated 200amp Anyone have any work-arounds for that issue?

There is no issue. He was corrected in the comments. Those are silicone wires. I can't find values for 7ga wire, but single 8ga can take 100Amps, so two 7ga wires should be enough for 200Amps. The only issue here is that their working temperature could be a bit higher, so if you screw that to a terminal that has plastic around, it could damage it.

I ordered the display for my 200amp JiKong BMS. Mine had no wires but has threaded tie downs. I plan to use a single 2ga built with flexible battery cable. Also note the threads are 6mm which is also what powersports battery terminal screws are so easy enough to find good screws.

Make sure your BMS has the display interface. It's a rather new addition.

I'm getting a pair of the 17S JK BMS to build two 12V, 2P4S batteries (i.e. one 12V 2P4S2P), using a 12V-48V booster to run them. (JK-BD6A17S8P, 0.6A balancing current, 80A continuous draw.)

There are no obvious mount points on the BMS in the photo. BigBrosMo's nifty bent bar technique doesn't seem an option as the BMS has cables from P- & B-, can others say what they have done to secure their BMSes?

Additionally, can owners please say whether their units came with the temperature sensor flyleads? I can't see anywhere in the specs that say the sensors come with the BMS (and I need them to shut charging at sub-5 degrees C)?

It will come with the temperature leads yes.

Just looked at this unit on AliExpress... You could remove one side of the aluminum cover plate and then add some clips to it or use the same screw locations to replace with a new plate. Just a thought

One of the videos on Off-Grid Garage, showed a 4mm threaded hole at each corner for mounting the JK BMS. Not sure if the model that you ordered has this but it is a place to start.

I just came across this thread. I got a JK BMS right before the pandemic hit but accidentally let the magic smoke out, and while waiting four months for another one to ship I decided to go to a Nuvation that they were having a super-sale on. The JK is the absolute best inexpensive BMS there is! be very careful when plugging it in, if any of the exposed parts of the pins brush against any other pin other than the one it is supposed to be plugged into it instantly arcs and fries.

I have the RS485, CAN, and GPS modules still, if anyone wants the lot for the cost of shipping:
If you still have them available I'd be happy to send you the dough to ship them my way. I live near Indianapolis.

Finally able to use my JK, 8S, 2A balancing. Figured I had to assemble the 24V battery first, for a quick charge before I did the top balance. But assembled it, charge it slowly using a 10A power supply and when there was a cell over-voltage, let it rest for a while, charge slower, did that a couple of times and the balancing worked perfectly. In the end, all cells were topped :)

The WHOLE KIT & KABOODLE arrived yesterday afternoon, well more or less.
The RS485 & CanBus modules were not shipped (Seriously Grrrrr).
Was told LCD Module was NOT available for the model I bought but now it is...
As per Post #1 I ordered these: JK-BMS [24S 2A 150A BT] with BlueTooth Part Number: B2A24S15P

edit, removed rest of post, it was a rant more or less,.

Further to my above and indeed first post here I have one other weird problem. I just added all the crimp connectors to the new BMS sensing lines and to my complete surprise for an 8S BMS I have 10 leads not 9 ??????? The BMS as you see in the photo I sent earlier has them labeled B- then as expected B1, B2...to B8 but finally the weird 10th connection marked B+ ?? Normally B8 goes to the positive on number 8 battery which is indeed the positive for the whole pack that connects to the load ?? So do I ignore one of these cables like B8 or the weird 10th one marked B+ or do I just connect BOTH B8 and B+ wires to the battery 8 positive tgerminal ?? This makes no sense and no user manual to refer to either as I said before. Never heard of a 9S battery pack either ????? Anyone ??
For the BMS of b2a8s20p, please link the first one with the total negative pole and the last one with the total positive pole of the battery. Thank you
