Hello everyone!

First off all I want to thank you for such a rich forum,plenty of information that helped me to build DIY system.

As many might not know in Lebanon,where I live, we are going through hyperinflation and because of that we only get two hours of electricity per day,if we are lucky!

Few months ago , Installed Growatt 5000esp with twelve Jinko 540W panels that i run without batteries through summer while waiting for my lifepo4 to arrive from Alibaba seller.

They finally arrived , 302Ah 3.2v CATL x32, and I'm happy to share my installation that has been running almost flawlessly for past two months (had small issue with connection that melted through that causes non damaging short-circuit)

My setup is:

302Ah CATL 3.2v x 32
Growatt 5000esp
Daly BMS 100A x 2
Two 200A circuit breaker

Settings :

Charging current 90A
Charging voltage 56.4v
Floating voltage 54.4v
Cutoff voltage 47.9v

All this gives me around 27kw of stored energy, enough to be totally off-grid.

Approximately I paid 10k USD to build it.

I will post here more on the problem i had.

What happened is that one of the clamps(lugs), that were at the negative bar terminal seems to be of low quality,that created a lot of heat and melted through the Cllena 300A cover (black) and felt on cells below.

Now when i noticed this,i disconnected everything however when i was lifting the bus bar off one of the cells it caused a short-circuit Spark even though terminals were protected by insulation tape however unfortunately it melted through it, I wasn't anticipating heat, and melting through it.

I will be installing a wooden plate to cover cells asap just in case something decides to melt/drop once again.

When you say clamp, do you mean the nut that is screwing down the bus bar on the battery terminal?

My bad had to Google it up, the fault was in bad LUG. We soldered it yet seems it created a lot of heat and melted through the plastic dropping it on the cells.
 
Nice to see this is giving you more power every day. I think the system is great.

Did you solder the lug or crimp and solder the lug?
 
Ahh.. ok. Yes, Soldering the lug is not something I would do. You can get Hydraulic crimpers fairly inexpensively via Alibaba or Ebay.

That's what most people here seem to be using with success. I use a FTZ Correct crimp tool:


more expensive than the hydraulic press, but it does produce a better crimp on the lug, which means less resistance. I will say I bought this some years back really just to do lugs on my marine battery cables, which regularly see higher current than my domestic battery setup, so it was worth the extra money for me.
