I have a couple of 230W Solar World panels that I want to mount on the top of my storage shed. So I can just walk inside the shed and see all the plywood roof and trusses. It's just got the tar paper and shingles on the top of that. The little Z-brackets that I used for my 100W panels are not the right size for the bigger panels. So what's the simplest way to mount these bigger ones?
1. Drill new mounting holes in the panel trim and use more Z-brackets to handle it.
2. Standard mounting brackets screwed through the roof and into the truss.
3. Gorilla glue (j/k).
4. Other.
I don't really want to do anything too fancy like using unistrut, but if that's the best way to do it, I'm game... I guess. I'd like to mount the panels vertical instead of horizontal.
