Hi, I'm Charlie. I'm new to the forum, and pretty new to solar. I'm not a total noob as I can still remember the time when I used to look forward to Will Prowse's latest video/rant about van life.

I've been asking for quotes from a couple of recommended suppliers on Alibaba.

Shenzhen Basen is offering 4 x 280ah Lifepo4 "Grade A" cells for £600 (about US$740) total price delivered in 7 days from a UK warehouse. This is the picture they sent. Do these cells look new? Do new cells have the rods already screwed in?

I have also had a quote from Jenny Wu at Docan. Her quote is US$571 (£463) with delivery and DDP, but it will take 2 months to arrive by boat.

Both offer "Grade A" and 6000 cycles.

What is the best price I can expect to pay at the present time? Is there someone else I should get a quote from?

Thanks.

I have batteries from both Docan, and Basen. Both appear to be new Grade A new cells. The Docan have the posts like your photo, and the Basen have M6 screws. The prices you quote are actually a little high for on hand versus sea freight delivery (I am in the US and do not know the precise difference for delivery cost to the UK vs here).

Sorry for the late reply.
4 pcs 280ah cells to UK through Jenny Wu of Docan Tech.
Cost is 4 * 110 + 130.6 DDP Delivery = US$570.60
Plus Alibaba transaction fee
The shipping time is around two months.

Thank you finally yesterday I went with the quote from Basen as they have warehouse here in the UK.

Really, they have a warehouse in the UK? I'm guessing some guy selling out of his trailer. Do you have a link to the Basen UK website; it is probably identical to the Basen USA website which is identical to the Docan website. Don't count on warranty service; they have excuses for everything that goes wrong with their products.

You may wish to research Basen here on the forum.
Just sayin.

I did a research and I really thought this was a recommended seller. But even if there is something wrong with them that I haven't found my experience is super positive, parcel arrived in just 3 days to Liverpool, cells in perfect condition, balanced and very well matched. Could be better ? Based on my experience clearly not. £550 for a 3 days shipping and grade A cells is more than enough for me. Thanks anyways for your thoughts
Balanced and matched? In what way?

To all new commers, please spend time on this forum and read up, you really need to figure what grade A is and what is not. I'm not going to go into any details but too many people here have no idea of what they are buying.

Just remember this, no one with grade B cells will claim it as such, everyone claims grade A. Do some research, you will find the info on this forum.

Here are some threads with good latest info:

I suggest you read the thread above. I hope you are lucky.

in capacity, voltage and internal resistance ? I am missing something here ? I am not affiliate in any way with them, I am just sharing my positive experience so what´s the problem is then ?
@Steve_S describes it better than I:

(Fully Matched)--Genuine Grade A
These cells are properly tested & matched at the factory which is a test cycle of charge/discharge measuring IR at various voltages which produces a report which is used to validate & sort the cells according to the determining specs. These also usually test out at 10%+ above label rating. A report of the test results are made available with cell serial # and values.

(Bulk, Voltage & IR Matched only)
These are NOT factory matched or batched, they are typical "grade edge case" cells meaning they did not qualify fully. They may have full AH capacity but not being fully matched the cells will deviate during charge/discharge which will prevent attaining full capacity. These are only voltage matched at their standing storage voltage as well as the IR (Internal Resistance) which fluctuates during use.

He gave an example as well of the test reports, however if you didn't get one, it just means the cells were not "matched" at the factory. There is quite a bit more to matching and batching cells than just touching the cells with a meter. Not meaning to criticize, just trying to help with your research (even if I'm a bit late).

Example test report from EVE:

Thank you bro for all your links and info. I am very happy with the cells I have received it but if even they are grade x,b, or c now is late to change. A more Grade A cell as you state would imply I guess to pay a lot of more money for it and for my needs these cells are enough, not very expensive and received in just 3 days. Again thanks for all the literature, I will bookmark this thread for a possible next order.
Just trying to explain why "balanced and matched" doesn't mean what you thought it meant.
If you use the term incorrectly, I have some grade A cells I'd sell you. Right next to the bridge I own just south of Key West (it's for sale too).
