Cable lug crimping tool for 8AWG - 1/0AWG

Yes, they are good enough, typically you have to use a size lower than the tool suggests and you can't do it all in 1 go or it leaves a barb...
Give it a squeze, rotate crimp, then another squeeze, rotate crimp and by the third time you should be able to close the handles completely

I have the set also, and for small stuff, they work just fine.
It’s a thin crimp, so I crimp in two places.

I like this one much better.

Will recommended it in some of his battery builds, and I use it on my bigger projects.
So much faster than hydraulic.
Alternatively, get the TEMCo Hydraulic crimper TH1818. I did. It is an indent crimper like the TH0012 tool above.

TEMCo has a discussion on why an indent crimper is much better for those of us not in a production environment. A quick summary: for hex crimpers to work properly, the crimper die, the lug. and the wire must all be designed to work with each other. An indent crimper is much more tolerant of tools and components sourced separately.

Question was for the crimper, but I found the wire cutters in the picture quite the workout when used towards the max rating and prefer a ratcheting cutter:

For the crimping tool, I almost got something similar, but got a hydraulic crimper, so no experience.

I have that one (AWG) and a hydraulic crimper (mm2) and all my crimps are mm2 but as BobCollins said they all have to be designed to work with each other. Obviously the AWG has issues but I was disappointed the mm2 crimper doesnt work with my mm2 crimps. Also my wire perfectly filling the crimps is a rare occurence. No goldilocks wire or crimps where I live.

I have a hand indent ratcheting crimper that works great with everything up to 10mm2 and i can double indent or smaller indent for loose fitting wire. So I will look for a bigger indent crimper. Sick of fiddling with hex.

I like my tecmo 1818, no fiddling around looking for dies except if you want to swap the + with the - die.
It's is almost impossible to get a bad crimp with it. I have yet to cut a lug in half to check but it sure seems like it turns it into a solid mass.

Has anyone used this? You got my blood boiling reminding me of all my crappy big crimping efforts. I can get the Temco mechanical lug crimper but I think I saw Will in one of his videos use this one in with an impact driver?

It says it also does up to 4/0
