Yep I linked the wrong one :/ I actually cant find the one that the local supplier here in Toronto is trying to sell me (its 12-24 30) on the official website
@snoobler I think ill be going with the bms I linked earlier, seems like an amazing option that wasnt available even a few months ago last time i checked programmable bms' options
After reading up on teensy 4.0 and comparing it to what ive been using (ESP) I think I am going to grab a teensy 4.0 and join in. Is your project open source?
I own two tesla s modules. I currently have my low cut off at 22 volts and my charging limit voltage to 24.4. I heard this is the safe rage.
But doing many searches online I see specs of going down to 18 volts, and up to 25.2 volts. So I am a bit confused about the discrepency.
I am taking a...
I am seeking advice and suggestions regarding an issue I am experiencing with my off-grid solar system. I have a non-isolated inverter (LV6548), and I recently noticed a voltage leak between the inverter ground and the earth (between 2 and 95v observed today). Upon investigation, I found that my...
I am trying to decide between:
Victron 12-24 (360w) smart/programmable charger
https://www.invertersupply.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1304_263_267&products_id=31021
or
Sterling 12-24 (840w) programmable(i think, has a custom charge profile option) charger...
I finished the capacity test this morning with changing the low voltage cutoff on the inverter back to 24v. 2.5kwh was outputted. So there seems to be 0 damage to the battery.
I am going to call Lynac and figure out with the temperature cut off on the BMS is then. I assume that's most likely...
As a quick solution I am thinking of using two AGM batteries in series since I understand they dont have much issues charging in freezing temperatures. Would this be fine?
I am using two 24v tesla modules. Most of my camper components are 24 volt so i need to run them in parallel. I am in Canada so i require 110v for the inverter portion.
therefore I am looking for a hybrid inverter mmpt unit which is 24v to 110v and has programmable/configurable battery settings...

that could explain it, if its that high of a temp cutoff. but I also have my inverter low voltage shut off set to like 24.8v as a test, and it still keeps shutting down, so it might be the temp.
So how do i have it restart remotly/automatically?
Well I went ahead and purchased the EASun hybrid inverter ISolar MLV 3k. I am really disappointed as the voltage ranges are very limited and will not work for my tesla batteries.
The values can not be typed in, there are just drop downs with limited voltage selection. The lowest voltage for low...
Lynac was very quick to respond over email:
"
Hi Alex,
The BMS is programmed to disconnect charging only when the internal temp falls to between 1 Celsius and 3 Celsius. Discharging the battery should not be affected by this. Is the whole battery shutting down? How are you using them?
Thank...
I am measuring between sticking an electrode in the soil, and another on ground.
Thank you everyone for your input. Based on your advice and further consultation, here’s my refined plan to address the grounding issue:
Grounding Solar Panels: I will ground all the solar panels together. The...
Just read through it. seems there is no bms:
" As in the previous posts this system does not utilize a full BMS but rather relys on periodic testing of the battery to check balance with a tenergy 5-1 cell meter. "
I have two 24v tesla s modules in parallel. They are working fine with my mppt and solar (limited charge profile and battery monitor for safety).
I would like to go to the Yukon for part of the winter and I know I wont get much solar, so I will need a dc to dc converter. What setup would you...
tldr; I need a way to automatically restart my battery bms after it has shut off and the charger/inverter is getting solar power, and to figure out why the battery bms is shutting down in the first place.
I live in Canada, and have a solar setup on my farm that powers my internet, security...
I have several 24v components for my campervan, but I have a 48 volt inverter.
Is it possible to put two 24v batteries into series for the 48v inverter, but also have them in parallel for the 24v components? I think that by doing them both at the same time there will be a short, but I am...
The transport industry here near Toronto Canada seems to have sold off their used bus battery modules as several Kijjijers are now selling these modules ranging from $50 CAD for untested and $100-150 for tested modules with 14-15.5 AH.
Are these good deals? Should I grab a bunch for home...
MY mpp lv6548 just arrived and I am now trying to order a BMS for my 16x lifepo4 302AH batteries.
I am confused about what BMS will be able to communicate with the invert/charger. does it need rs282 or rs485, or is either fine?
I have searched through half a dozen pages of tesla bms results on the whole forum there wasn't anything that stood out or conclusive in regards to what is the BMS option for a tesla s module in 2020.
I know the consensus now is becoming not to use tesla modules to begin with, but for those...
Thanks! by LFP you mean LiFePO ? Where are you able to get them for cheaper than tesla modules? I wonder if I can find something similar in Canada, but doubtful.
I found another option. I think I might go with this solution since I see now benefit to using the proprietary Tesla child modules and trying to hack a host for them.
The DIYBMS v4
Did you get it from here? https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/4PCS-Lifepo4-Rechargeable-3-2V-280Ah_62401757288.html?spm=a2756.order-detail-ta-ta-b.0.0.5f8d2fc2Tnn1ty
or do you have another link? thanks!
Hey guys, I am currently using two tesla s modules for my camper, but I am nervous of doing long trips without bms'. I am thinking of switching over to Lifepo4 systems. In Canada its hard to come across good deals, but I did find this battery system:
24v 100ah $1750 CAD. Two of those should be...
that makes the most sense, thank you.
But now that I think of it, it does not explain the bms shutting off the power supply, which is what always happened.
I am going to sell the teslas, but I just came across a programmable bms that might work for them (posted in another thread) https://diysolarforum.com/threads/would-this-bms-work-for-tesla-s-module.10226/
So I might keep them if those will work. Not sure at the moment.
Too much of an efficiency loss, the converters I was looking at are only between 80-90% efficient. If thats the only option ill just switch to a 24v inverter
