Well a EMP attack is similar to a high class solar flare so it depends on the amount of magnetic radiation the best shield is a lead unless you want to construct a Faraday cage and can be smart but hard to do post build.
You only need one RS485 card to run the Sunny Islands through the data manager. The data manager looks at a cluster as one battery inverter, you can run up to 4 sunny islands. With the lite version you are limited to 5 devices again the sunny islands only count as one.
Thanks for the reply, from what I can tell the RS-485 communication is the exact same on both units. So I will try setting all three low battery modes to 0. I see the setting you are talking about on the H models.. Wish I had that on my unit.
I do not want to even tell you what I went through to try to figure that out myself...... Thank you so much, I still want the 14 hours back I spent on this issue but I am so happy I can move past this part of the project. Longest my system has run without system errors.
The Orion BMS wants a 12v power supply and I could jump off the 48v pack but untiI get all the issues out of the system the 12v is nice so the BMS is always on.
It was funny with the 60sec clock from the SI to get the bms programed because the bms was powered by the emergency panel. Did about 2 rounds of that changing bms profiles when I did something that shut the system down. I had the battery and charger laying around anyways but the 120v to 12v is...
I would not expect anyone to "FIX" these things, for the cost and weight they are throw away units. I have installed a few in cabins because we did not care if they got stolen. I would say it is like getting parts for a knock off product, look for used ones on ebay lol.
The structure of the CAN messages is exact but the data might be different as far as byte/bit order or reading 1% vs .01% let me play with the default Victron profile on my system and get back to you with any issues.
I would go all SMA running 230v singel phase but thats just me. What you really need is tons of solar power from what I read so look into the 600w + solar panels. As for the battery run the SMA H series battery inverter unless you want to run 400v + then go with the Sunny Boy Storage for...
I am setting up a SMA Sunny Island 6048us as a grid tied back up with Sunny boy, Data Manager M, EVE 105ah Lifepo4 16s test bank (EVE 280k x64 Main Bank), Midnite Solar Classic and Orion bms. I have the system up and I hit a few brick walls along the way and would like some help understanding...
