Hello Gurus!
Man, was it really August '24 for my last post!?
I've been on a LONG journey, but I'm very happy to report success! The support @ GoldenMotor.bike was fantastic. The directions received w/ the controller largely sucked, but the support team was fabulous.
I will post some pics soon...
HI gurus-
Parts are on the way from GoldenMotor.bike. They took a credit card, and worked with me a little on price to make them actually less expensive than bringing it in from the factory after shipping and duties. A much more comfortable arrangement this way.
Hey, where did you find info on the motor? I'm coming up empty!
I metered a couple of the wires to figure out where they go and I think I've got this figured out.
Looks like 48V to the motor and 12V to the other systems (audio, horn, remote control for the motor), I think that makes sense...
Thanks for your prompt response Bob!
Agreed, the 4 x 12V batteries and 48V charger output seems to indicate series wiring for sure, that's what's causing me heartburn. But I just can't make that work with what's there.
Not sure pics would be of any help since everything is just in there like I...
OK gurus, I've been doing a lot of homework.
I see a mention above, yabert, about "Montenergy". I was able to actually track down the owner of MARS Electric. Turns out he had to give up the name MARS due to being sued over it so many times. I can see that...
He re-branded as MOT Energy...
Awesome Yabert! Thanks so much for your feedback. I was looking at Kelley for a controller, I don't see this on your list. Also, the Kelley's make you select a wave form of the motor, either sinusoidal or trapezoidal. I can't find that info shown anywhere. Do you have any idea what this...
LOL. I'll try to remember to snap one next time I'm @ the marina.
I do have a question...
So with these 4, 12V, 98Ah batteries connected in series, what is the Ah rating of the whole bank?
98Ah is my intuition here, but I'd like some backup for that.
thx,
Mark
Hello Gurus-
I'm stumbling on a couple of things:
1. Golden Motor wants a wire transfer up front before shipping anything. I asked about a COD, but they wouldn't budge. Has anybody done business with these folks?
2. I see the Golden Motor controller can be switched between generating sine-wave...
Thanks everybody for the great advice!
Any suggestions on places to get a proper converter/MPPT such as Rednecktek suggests?
Recommended manufacturers?
OK Gurus-
Looks like I may have an interface issue w/ my throttle. If I'm understanding the wiring of the Parsun setup, it looks like the excitation voltage for the throttle is 48V. The rheostat tested OK I think w/ 2500 Ohms full fwd, 175 Ohms neutral, 2700 Ohms full rev.
The EZkontrol shows...
Sorry for the delayed response gurus. I hope these help. I don't have a great picture of either the motor or the controller handy but I can take some if necessary.
Thanks for your feedback sumpower, I'm just trying to restore what was there. It worked fine to push my short brick through the water.
Hull form factor for a pontoon is as bad as it gets, I'm quite sure.
Past my bedtime-
Peace to all,
Mark
yeah, that's where I'm leaning at this point. I think the A size is fine for my motor. would you mind having a look at the motor's QC sheet I posted and see if you concur?
Thanks so much again Yabert! I really appreciate you hanging in there with me!
I did ask Golden Motor for a USA affiliate and they indicated there was none. I'll do some further digging.
OK Gurus-
Here it is, as I intend to connect it. I see I neglected to label battery #1, it the left one in the picture with 2 batteries (IMG_4598).
The 12V accessories are to be wired with the small gage wire shown on the deck in IMG_4600.
The 48V charger will get hooked up in parallel w/ the...
I see the Golden Motor EZ Kontrol looks really nice actually. The big thing here is that I don't know if this motor is sine or square wave and the Golden is programmable between the two.
Hello solar gurus-
I have purchased a 2013 pontoon boat which was converted to electric. I believe the conversion was done around 2015 from what I can tell.
It has the following equipment:
5KW Parsun motor
4 x 12V deep cycle, lead acid batteries
120VAC x 48VDC charger
The trouble is, the...
Hello again Gurus!
Well, I had it all working and even took it out a few times. Then, suddenly, she died! While messing around with it, the proper spun in reverse 1 time briefly.
I took the motor cover (Parsun 5, 48V) off and find it has a Mars Electric controller, ME0702N, circa 2013-ish. I...
