Hi All,
We joined the EV revolution last month (2023 MG ZS) and are managing (just) to supply it with our existing 5kW setup. We're upgrading this winter to an 11kW inverter, doubling our PV array and building a DIY LiFePO4 battery (16 x 304Ah cells).
To help with the EV charging I'm looking...
Hi everybody,
We're just starting on our off-grid journey, having bought a 1 .5 acre piece of rural paradise in Northland, New Zealand. We found this site and forum through Will's amazing youtube channel, and are even looking to purchase a MPPSolar 5048 as per review on there. Looking to start...
Hi All,
We're battling through a very wet winter here, but making some progress. The roof is on and I'm getting ready to order PV panels and battery.
We're looking at
aasolar.co.nz/product/400w-perc-mono-half-cell-pv-solar-panel and pylontech us3000 lithium battery to combine with a...
Hi Tictag,
Wow! What an amazing reply, so much helpful info. Thanks for pointing me towards Voc, I was getting myself confused. I haven't purchased yet (except for the Inverter) so can down scale or add as needed.
I additional question if I can...I have an opportunity to get 48V lithium units...
Hi all, does anyone have experience with these - PylonTech 48V US2000B 2.4kWh Lithium Ion Solar Battery Plus? Pricing and convenience seems great, but they seem pretty new to market and was wondering about any feedback.
Awesome result. I've just ordered a similar MPPSolar unit (5048mk) and 3 X 3 X 365W panels, so looking good for our off grid new life! Batteries still a work in progress...what is the capacity of your Tesla module?
Hi All,
I have a question that I'm probably over thinking...I have been offered a MPPSolar PIP-5048MK inverter at a great price. I had scaled my panels and batteries for the 3kW version, but this is no longer available.
My question is...what is the downside of pairing 8 x 24V 390w panels with...
Hi everyone,
New poster here! We are close to purchasing a new off-grid set up for a piece of rural land we've bought here in New Zealand. I'm happy with the sive of the PV array, controller/inverter and battery bank, but am struggling with combiner boxes etc. Our components so far are;
12 x...
Hi All,
Greetings for sunny Northland, New Zealand. We've spent the last 3 months surviving with 1 x 3.2KwH LiFePO4 battery and are now in a position to get another.
I'm thinking to install some more PVs while I'm at it and hope that someone can check my set up. We currently have;
6 x 410w...
Hi all, great to see that some have made more progress than I did with Rosen. I had no issues with the offer, was just wary of spending so much money without strong recommendations. I have now bought PV panels and battery from a NZ vendor, going with local warranty etc for that extra piece of mind.
I bought my 5048-GK direct from mppsolar in Australia and had it shipped to New Zealand. Great service. I could have bought it direct from Taiwan but got offered a great deal on an "opened box" unit.
Hi All,
I have a bit of a dilemma with our off grid set up...
We have a nice setup (12 x 410w PV, MPP Solar 5kW inverter, 3 x Pylontech US3000), but are looking to expand to add capacity for another build close by. The new build will increase roof area to allow for more panels (12 more 410W)...
Hi tictag,
Thanks for your amazing reply, very helpful.
The start up voltage is in the manual that came with the inverter. It actually says 150V +/- 10V, so really good with the 4 panel array if we go that way.
Based on your help I'm now thinking of starting with one string of 6 panels, with...
Hi All,
I've finally gotten around to installing my MPPSolar PIP 5048GK, and have encountered a problem...
First up, system set up...

Hi all,
I'm slowly working toward getting an off grid system together for a new build. I have previously purchased a (an?) MPPSolar PIP-GK 5048 controller/inverter https://www.mppsolar.com/v3/pip-gk-series/
The attached quote is from Rosen Solar in China. PV panels seem a great price, with...
Hi, sorry to hear. I did pull the main board out and I think the fuse is on that somewhere (not helpful I know). Possibly you can access in the panel where the leads go in...
My GK is still in its box under the bed, I bought a slightly different model and have used it no trouble for 6 months now
