I just spoke with Eversource solar department. She did not understand at first because all the installs here are grid tied only. She took down the details that it is a hybrid inverter and battery setup in limited power to load mode. She asked someone else and later called back to confirm that...
There is no interconnect agreement change because the total power generated by all panels are still below 15k. That’s why the panels were purchased, it is just their specs did not let us connect all of them to the sol ark.
An an FYI, yeah we could have added these three panels to the end of...
Nothing beyond this emergency stop button. Everything else was approved as-is. This was the only thing not mentioned in the permit which came at the last minute. The Sol Ark was even wide open for that last connection to the emergency stop when the inspector came.
It won’t produce more than 15k, the sol ark is maxed out not because of the panel wattage - but because the voltage of each panel - disallows us to connect more than the current number to the PV input of the sol ark. We will be well below 15k - actually around 12k only.
Also, not all of them...
In the meantime, just spoke with Sol Ark support. They clarified that the need for this emergency stop button is being seen in many states because when the house is burning firefighters need to ensure that the inverter is not doing any conversions within it.
Also, this does not trip any...
How long did it take to get the approval from the utility after the inspection?
Who sends the documentation to the utility after the inspection - the city or the installer?
How do they let you know it is all set to turn on? Email/ letter?
1500V panels that is why. Unfortunately I purchased the panels before the sol ark as the originally purchased 2 inverters was not UL listed, and had to be returned. Not to mention, the installer #1 turned out to be a scammer and is in jail now. Long story…
If I had purchased the panels with the...
Since the install, the battery icon shows a warning symbol under it, and lithium battery stats show up all zero, so I had to configure the battery setting manually after talking extensively with Sol Ark and HAB support.
We also updated the Sol Ark to the latest version. The HAB update is...
Detailed here. Someone else asked the same question:
https://diysolarforum.com/threads/does-connecting-micro-inverters-as-ac-coupled-input-to-the-gen-port-of-a-solark-15k-violate-any-national-or-new-hampshire-code.69774/
Can you kindly give me a blurb or text with the panel specs mentioning why it is ok to do the wiring this way and why it will not cause any issues?
Sorry, I just need some specific description considering the panel specs and why this is not a problem. I have to somehow convey this to the installer.
I am facing the situation of a very long wait between my inspection and the install of a net meter and subsequent wait till I get permission to grid sell.
In the meantime, I wanted to configure the sol ark 15k preventing grid sell so I can use some solar. This is in Southern NH with Eversource...
Tell me about it! We tested it very briefly during the install. PV has been off since. Drives me crazy as I can’t even keep it running for a few hours to see if it will all work for a longer period of time.
The home does not use much power during the day, but it all adds up with the high rates...
Lucky you! I called them today, my utility says not to export power before the meter is replaced for sure.
What happens when the meter does not support export, and export happens?
I know this is possible. I read all the manuals and watched all the videos about this.
We plan to do this to add three remaining extra panels to a fully filled out sol ark 15 install. No more panels can be added to PV in this system because the panel voltage would exceed what the sol ark...
I am getting arc faults on my Solark 15k. It started happening during the windy days this week.
First time, it happened at night - Only the dishwasher was running.
Then it happened during the day at 9 am. That’s when I turned off the solar panels breakers, still got a fault at 11am.
The only...
“The inspector asked about the battery. He may require a remote battery disconnect. I'm not having any luck w Kilovault. Their battery has a breaker disconnect and the Solark has a breaker disconnect.
Our plans they approved do not show an external battery disconnect. And they approved the...
The zero export grid profile will not work without the consumption CT sensors installed. Enphase support confirmed this.
Sol Ark support mentioned to install these sensors behind the Sol Ark CT sensors.
This job is in Nashua, NH
Any help is appreciated. I already have the CT sensors at home...
Posting because I am curious to know what you will say. All I know about the string configuration is that it is maxed out currently. Maybe the panel will tell you why.
What exactly does parallel mean? I don’t understand. Do you mean battery may feed for a moment into the grid? The panels are not producing after sundown.
“they have a system max of 1500v”
I remember thinking about that myself. Unfortunately, there is simply nobody in this area who does DIY solar installs that I could find, so…
You got it right about the 30 panels with 3 extra!
I am pretty sure it is 3 strings of 10 each - 20 south facing on one...
I have got the same response from HAB support via altE. Same issue.
I do know that (atleast to the best of my knowledge), the modbus port on the HAB connects to the Sol Ark and not canbus. Don’t take my word for it, but that is the conclusion after a detailed analysis of both systems and...
I have DC PV too. The arc fault was not detected by the arc fault breaker on the main home panel, but Solark did. Solark support said sometimes arc fault errors can show up from the AC side as well. Which is why I asked Enphase if they had seen anything. That was normal.
Thanks for replying...
Yes it is. This is what my installer also told me. But Enphase support says install CT sensors or your zero export profile will not work.
I also noticed whenever the Enphase is on, and house is not using extra power, then it is sending less than 50W to the grid occasionally because the house...
Would immensely help if someone could look at all the information provided and give me a plan to add the extra panels, which I can present to the installer or someone else later. Thing to remember is that I have 3 extra panels now, but would like to fill that last east facing roof with 7 more...
That may not be a bad idea when the panels are facing different directions, because not all of them would produce as much as the right ones at the time of day.
Would love to know about a setup which lets me get upto 40 400W panels this way with 20 south, 10 west and 10 east
That makes sense. I am not looking at the Enphase to determine export. The Sol Ark is showing as exporting to the grid even though it is set to zero export.
This started happening only AFTER the enphase was connected to the Sol Ark.
Thanks. Do you have any references or prior experience with this kind of setup already done, which I can tell my installer that it does not violate code. I know the setup - only worry is code violation.
I am looking for someone nearby who has the time to help me rewire three panels on my roof which are currently wired for a string inverter, to convert to a micro inverter setup.
These are not connected to anything right now because the sol ark has maxed out with the other panels.
We may also...
Will send once the PV is turned on after the inspection.
Yeah, I did buy from shopsolarkits.com - folks here tend to buy from altE and I think they are just unfamiliar with this particular panel in these parts. Also took a while to arrive when they did from CA.
I don’t have the plans. I will...
“Strings of 10 are perfectly fine for those panels on your inverter. It’s max is 500VoC per MPPT input, and as before each of your 400w panels are 37.07VoC, so 10 in string are 307.7VoC, 400w and 13.79a. This information is right from the Inverter manual and the panel data you provided.”
I am...
I will update here when I hear back from Sol Ark today. In the meantime, my research indicates that it may not be a good idea to install two CT sensors side by side. They can interfere with each other or cause heating (safety issues).
Any opinions on this are appreciated.
It is disabled. Has been for many months. It was already limiting DC.
Trickle will not work in this scenario, although is a good idea for DC limiting. Sol Ark cannot control the Enphase output - not conjecture, actual behavior. There were no issues limiting export before Enphase was added to...
Any chance you can give me some names? Because believe me that I have tried finding somebody to do solar work and could not find anyone, anywhere. And I have also talked to every solar company near me before finding this installer. They were not interested then, they probably won’t do it now...
