    Voltage from panels ok?

Thanks for the replies, it's just a backup system in case of power failure, had a bad ice storm last winter and trees were down everywhere. I'm using 4 mighty max sealed batteries ML-35-12 so not much power there, its just for running our wireless router and charging laptops, cell phones and TV...

    Voltage from panels ok?

Hello, new small off-grid solar setup in progress. Have 4 100 watt panels mounted and wired in parallel, just checked voltage from the leads that will go into the charge controller and am getting a little over 20 volts, like about 20.3. I have a 30A Wanderer charge controller and just want to...

    Reusing existing satellite mount?

I have two Renogy 100 watt panels I was considering using a defunct existing satellite mounting for as it is in a decent location. It seems to be well attached to the framing under the roof. I haven't finished setting up the mount yet, just wanted to see what it might look like to start with...

Using battery bank with generator switch

Thanks!, Seems like the most affordable thing to do right now is plan on using the generator to pump water only occasionally, which will also extend the life of it. Looks like everything else can be done with about a 3000 watt inverter.

Using battery bank with generator switch

Thank you! The only thing i'm really not sure about is the well pump as far as wattage is concerned, I'm sure it's a very high surge rating but will seek out help from well digging pros around here. For now, the system will be set up for just a short-term power outage scenario, heat, water...

Using battery bank with generator switch

We have a Generac manual transfer switch installed in our house to use a gasoline generator for powering certain things like well pump, boiler heat, etc. Assuming the wiring, inverter, batteries, etc. of an off-grid PV system is capable of powering those items that are now wired through the...

    Hi everyone!

Just wanted to say hello and I look forward to any and all advice from members on our project. I have no electrical experience but sometimes we have power outages in our rural southern Wisconsin area and have decided to try a small solar backup power option for just some basic needs, short-term...
