thanks for the response. I am still unclear about the Total Derated kW part. I found a post on reddit solar that says -" the Total Derated kW is, for many of us, a trick question: the answer is 0 for systems smaller than 30kW."
is there any issues with going with a high amprage PV breaker...
Could someone please help me figure out the "PV Breaker Size (Amps)" and the "Total Derated kW" for my set up? I'm very close to being able to submit my interconnect application but I am unsure on these two points. Thanks so much for your hlep thus far. I am grateful
I using the Sol-ark 15k
Can someone please confirm this for the AC Disconnect? do you know if that is true? or could I use a 60 amp disconnect since I am only using sixteen 400 watt panels. The 200A knife blade switch is really expensive compared to the 60 amp
I am a little unclear on this "Total Derated kW" I don't understand how to calculate that. Most things I;ve read seems like to should be 0 for systems under 30k watts. which is true and how do I calculate it please.
I submitted my application yesterday and now think I may have screwed up the size of the AC disconnect. I just watched a video of a guy doing a similar install with the Sol-ark 15k and he used a 200 amp AC disconect. I only had a100 amp on the application.
and I just found this on PG&E's...
I don't have any loads do downstream that would draw 200A. but basically every install I can find with this Sol-ark 15k has a 200A AC disconect. Even the Sol-ark 15 shows it.
I found a similar discussion on this page... https://diysolarforum.com/threads/sol-ark-15k-install-schematics.45864/
I don't know what to think now. I think I undersized the AC disconnect. I wonder if that is going to trigger "Rule 21" and have my application sent back.
I submitted my interconnection application with 6400W solar panals and the Sol-ark 15k but I only had a 100A AC disconnect. Was that a big mistake? I'm worried my application is going to get sent back and I will not qualify for NEM2. Should I withdraw my application and resubmit it?
Hi, I'm just about complete with my interconnection application for PG&E but I'm concerned that our planned "increase of usage" is too high.
We are just moving into the new house and it's small... so PG&E says our expected yearly usage is around 3200kWh/year. Our planned solar systen is...
Hi I'm almost complete with my PG&E interconnect application and I'm confused on a couple points, do I need to upload "Site Plans and Diagrams" if I am using the basic Single Line Diagram provided by PG&E?
also I dont know if I need to click yes or no on the question "AC Disconnect Variance...
right on. thanks.
sorry if I keep asking this. but is it ok to put "total derate Kw" as zero for my system?
I going to have sixteen 400W panels with a sol-ark 15K inverter.
our PV breaker is calculated at being a 40amp. the main breaker is 200amp. we will have a 60 am AC disconnect.
Hi out there... I just received an email from PG&E stating I have a deficiency notice for an "Incomplete (Equipment confirmation)" on my NEM2 application. Here's how it read:
"This project failed an engineering screen due to discrepancy between the inverter capacity and the photovoltaic...
Thanks for the replys. The panels won't be installed on a roof it will be a ground mount, so they could pretty easily look. I dont' necessarily want to hide anything so I would like to try and figure out what PG&E's official rule is. I don't want to lose my NEM2 contract. I wrote PGE and...
Hi out there! My wife and I are just buying our first house and we are trying at the last minute to submit a NEM2 application. I am working on the PG&E form and have run into lots of questions
I plan on installing sixteen Silfab 400W panels and Sol-ark 15K-2P inverter
For the Sol-ark I don't...
I have an approved NEM2 application where I was going to use Silfab 400W HCPlus panels but they are now discontinues and impossible to source. I'm wonder if and how I can change my exisitng application so that I can use different panels. Silfab now makes a very similar 410W panel. any advice...
My engineering plans and electrical permit specify a line-side tap, but the electrician who was scheduled to complete the final wiring has informed me that there is no available space in my 200-amp panel to accommodate the tap. The plans call for a Square D B-Tap model D223NRB Line tap.
Are...
just about to submit my interconnect application to PG&E. One last thing that worries me a bit is my "planned increase or usage". We just moved into this house and don't really know our usage yet and it's our first house but it estimate it at only 3200kWh/year since the squar footage is so...
I think I finally found my answer.
For solar panels: Certified same CEC-AC rating of the system or smaller.
I don't really understand how to calculate the CEC AC rating when looking at different panels. My system is to have a CEC AC rating of 5.672656 kW. I looks like PGE uses the...
Thanks for the response. I don't see where I can submit an explanation that I chose the inverter capacity so that I would have room future expansion. all I see on the https://yourprojects-pge.com is where I can upload the specs docs. I believe I found those and I can upload them but I don't...
Thank you! I switched to the yourprojects-pge.com online site.
I'm stumped on two questions now... the "Generator Type" is it Inverter-External or Inverter-Incorporated? I plan on installing sixteen Silfab 400W panels and Sol-ark 15K-2P inverter
I also don't know what group to select for...
To provide a little more information, my electrical service form PG&E is 200 amp. I have around 6000 watts for solar panels feeding into a Sol-ark 15K. I think the max output of the sol-ark inverter is 62.5 Amps
any options besides replacing the entire panel and service? I don't think I can even afford that right now. The electrician ballparked 3500 to do that. I'm worried.
I keep having trouble on the "Usage and Production" section.
It's now saying, "Your proposed facility does not meet the guideline that it should be sized so that your estimated annual generation is no larger than 100% of your previous annual usage (or equivalent annual usage determined by...
Ok. thanks for the response. I upload a couple of pictures. I am unsure which equipment to choose on the application when choosing my equipment from the PG&E drop down for the Sol-ark Inverter it has 2 options, and I don't know which I need. The "Limitless 15K-LV [240V]" or the “Limitless...
one last thing on the AC disconnect. I can't figure out if it's ok to have a 60 amp or I need the 200 amp disconnect. I am hearing conflicting things. Sol-ark support seems to say I need the 200 amp disconnect but then my County's building permit office got back to me and wrote this:
"In...
Also, for the AC disconnect I added a “Square D - Model DU222RB 60 AMP”
I believe that is sufficient for my sixteen 400W panels and the Sol-ark 15K but can someone please confirm that? Thank you kindly.
