The fact that you don't know the difference between connecting cells in parallel and connecting in series, and are attempting to charge the cells connected in parallel with a 12 volt charger is a testament that you have no clue what you are doing.
My advice to you is to stop everything you are...
Read here. It's unfair of you to make false claims and you need to stop. Michael is a stand up guy....I feel really bad for him having to deal with this crap. It's not his fault.
Someone else, whom I will not name, also made the same accusation and I corrected him as well and stated I would be...
If only this was a domestic shipment then it would be easy.
I will be honest by saying if it was me, I would not accept any of the cells that were damaged due to poor packaging and would be asking for a full refund or replacement. I am not going to point fingers at UPS either. The way this is...
Has anyone watched this? :)
And here is an article I found interesting.
https://www.nextbigfuture.com/2021/06/catl-will-start-mass-producing-sodium-ion-batteries.html
When I ordered cells from Michael he told me I could pay by check, credit card, cash, PayPal friends and family or PayPal goods and services. He never suggested what my method of payment should be, he totally left it up to me.
I don't know why you have jumped to so many conclusions without...
Are you implying BLS manufactures EVE cells? It's my understanding BLS doesn't manufacture anything. If you have any facts to prove otherwise I would be interested.
The suppliers advertise cells as grade A but we have found EVE cells are not grade A. Some have tested at 265ah. The only way to...
Test completed.
DISCHARGING:
Discharge C rate is very low....apx .06C. DROK meter displayed 265ah's with full battery and 11.5ah's with an empty battery. I don't fully trust it because it uses a Hall Effect sensor.
BMS displayed zero amps remaining and still discharging because it's not...
Personally I am wondering why you insist spamming the forum with your problem and disrupting other peoples threads? No one can help you except you and you have been given many suggestions, the best one IMO is dispute the charges with your credit card company.
Bud Martin linked to the thread...
I wanted to post something about that statement and I am glad you did and thank you for sharing. :)
I have known many obese people throughout my life time and most are productive and compentent members of society. I also see obese people all the time especially at fast food places, and while...
Regarding Lishen cells, it has been pointed out here that what is seen between the aluminum case and the negative terminal is considerable leakage current.. With EVE cells it was confirmed here when measuring between the cells negative and the aluminum case there was very little leakage current...
Here are a few more pics. The unit is well constructed and beautiful...no scratches, dents or other defects. The only thing I don't like is they use din rail terminals for the battery connections. It might be ok. More when I get it hooked up and review how well it behaves.
I think I would go by the combined experience others have had with Big Battery and not rely on only the experience of Will. If you search the forum and read through this thread you will be able to make a decision.
The biggest problem I have with BB is the honestly of the CEO and I won't say any...
I believe the reason Mr. Green never gave anyone any updates is because he found cell(s) in Seth's battery leaking. There is no way he could spin Seth's photos. He already tried spinning with the grease thing even though the photos showed something much worse than white grease. White grease is...
I am attaching an image of another way to build a pack if using cables or braided busbars for the interconnects. I forgot who posted it initially but credit goes to him.
What is the purpose of this thread? What do you intend to do with the information provided to you? You have not answered the question. What are your intentions...motives?
There are not nearly 300 people. There are a total of 300+ cells involved according to Michael. Everyone who received...
It wouldn't hurt to put some type of insulator between the cells, between the cells and the aluminum plate, and between the bottom of the cells and the aluminum plate.
Well here's the thing. Everyone is supposed to know what they are getting before cells are shipped. It doesn't always work out that way as we are very well aware... :) Amy has been touted as a respected and trusted supplier...also by yours truly...me, myself and I. If things are changing with...
Deligreen does not look so bad now do they....in comparison to this so called lab. I have not seen any cell bulge like that here on this forum unless it was over charged.
What's really sad is there was most likely nothing wrong with the cells to begin with. And now there is no recourse to ask...
Those of us who have been around know most of the suppliers falsely advertise in some form or another. Some buyers have more expectations than others. I can only say what I have said many times before. People need to consider the "commodity cell" cost per watt hour vs buying true new Grade A...
Big Battery said the batteries sent out for review, like Will's, were all prototypes. They claim no prototypes were sold to customers. Therefore any customer who has received the battery should have the upgrades.
Summary:
1: The leads on your meter are reversed. The black lead should be plugged into the common port of your meter.
2: The black terminals on the cells are positive. The brown terminals are negative.
3: I don't see a fuse or breaker shown in the attached photos. Always use a fuse or...
I agree with @Ryang.
My suggestion is to post prices for your batteries including shipping with the option of sea or air. Or set up a website for the "little" guys to order cells from. Surely you could be competitive with the other distributors considering the volume of cells you have. If you...
Not sure what you mean by create but I know there is sarcasm with your statement. Calling people trolls is not very good for your business. Most of what I have seen in this thread has been constructive criticism.
Most important, your honesty is still in question until you report what you found...
And that's why I was implying to not make it complicated as others have. I also relayed to you what EVE told me. This discussion while good has been beat to death. There are numerous threads concerning it. Dzl has posted one of the threads discussing it and has cleared up what 300KGF means...
I have explained to you the Valance XP batteries are a different breed compared to a traditional drop in. I previously posted the link for you to ask your questions in your other thread...the Valance XP Super Thread. Why do you insist on starting new threads related to these batteries?
You need...
The poles do not look good and the dents are unacceptable. However as far as I know the gurgling noise is normal. All of my EVE 8 cells have that noise and it's been reported by many other members.
The majority of us have received cells with the code B66. The date code is a mystery and EVE has...
I would have filed a claim had it been me and I posted in Mightymachs' thread I was not recommending or suggesting anyone go past the dispute period.
Personally I would have waited until a week or so before the time had run out to file a claim with the hopes Michael would resolve this mess...
Seriously?
What about the strong smell Seth experienced?
What about the red and white wires coming off apparently due to the corrosion in that area?
What about the power button not functioning?
What about the 7 volt reading on the display?
Is this what you call a functional battery?
How do...
I wouldn't say they are bulged either. There is a big difference between bulged and expanded. Many of us have received cells that look similar and perform flawlessly. Some examples are in this thread.
I do agree false advertising does not set well with me. However what it boils down to is cost...
Yes there is less voltage drop with a bigger wire.
My 6012 was able to happily and continuously pump the full 12 amps into the cells for the 4 days it took providing, as we found, the voltage was set to 3.65 volts to get the full current output. Dealing with these low voltages can be a PITA...
There is much to be learned from those that are not professionals. Sometimes peoples posts of hands on experiences are intriguing and much can be learned from them as well. And some who claim to be "industry professionals" have opinions with little to no data to back it up. And if they do have...
Thank you for your very enlightening and informative post...:) I had a feeling you would come along to make a comment since you had a bad experience with EVE when you were communicating with them. But it's all good and it's my time to waste. In fact my reply to you is taking as much of my time...
I don't think it is. We have been through this many times before and I believe it's leakage current at least with the EVE cells. But I also think there are certain scenarios that could cause problems and it's good to put insulation between the cells especially in a mobile environment.
In the...
Any BMS should be checked to make sure the HVD and LVD are working. Even the infamous Overkills, which I am using and love, should be tested before final assembly. Remember the BMS is used for the last line of defense to protect the cells in case a charger or something malfunctions.
The whole idea in my opinion is to keep the cells from expanding. What you have is fine. If you notice the cells are not snug when you discharge them, then tighten up the rods so they are snug and be done with it. That's what I am going to do and I will most likely use the same method you did...
It's not that big of a deal providing the "young industry" does something about it. I know you would never minimize anything that would be harmful to another person. :)
In all honesty I would like to see Big Battery and the likes succeed. I am sure you have seen the complaints about Big...
I am using my 8 EVE 280ah cells with a UPS and according to my notes have not cycled them since June 25th. of last year. I have balanced them using the BMS several times because I have one cell that tends to drift down very slowly.
We have had a few power outages that did not last long and as...
Search the forum. I wish Big Battery the best but their CEO has flat out lied on this forum and unfortunately that doesn't bode well for the company.
Good to know you have had a good experience. I think most people do.
I agree and that's why I asked @MountainMatt what was wrong with his...
The cells I ordered from Michael were not in this group. I received them almost a year ago.
About absolving Michael, I am not joking. If this goes to court who is going to be blamed? Michael or the supplier? A good attorney in Michael's defense might be able to absolve him since there was no...
I am thinking the B- wire needs to be connected. Not sure.
Try temporarily connecting the B- wire to the battery with a jumper or something just to test.
First of all I would like to thank @WillProwse for this forum and all of the wonderful members. I could not have made it this far without your help and I still have a ways to go, but I am getting there.
Second I would like to thank @AussieSim for his review of his Snadi which prompted me to...
There are many reasons for using a BMS and the peace of mind is worth it. The cells you ordered are most likely not capacity matched and this alone is reason enough to use a BMS. Wiring instructions will come with the BMS.
It's a shame Overkill is out of them because the instructions he...
The 8 EVE 280ah cells I received from Michael (Basen) last October were packed very well and came in pristine condition. There were no plastic corners on the boxes and of course my cells did not come with laser welded studs. Any supplier should know proper packaging is important and most...
Joining in here to say I too am glad you are ok but also to thank you for sharing. It's unfortunate what happened to you, but it's a very valuable lesson for everyone, myself included.
EVE recommends compressing the cells (to keep the cells from expanding) for extended cycles from 2000 cycles to 3500 cycles. Of course another reason to compress the cells is to keep the cell terminals from being stressed.
If the cells are mounted in a fixture so they can't expand, then one...
It's not just my opinion. The scratches on the PVC wrap are a result of a poor case design. So yes, that is not acceptable. If two or more cells come in contact with each other as the result of the PVC wrap wearing through and exposing the aluminum the cell is encased in, then that can cause...
If something leaked to the inside of the battery it had a terrible smell according to Seth. It's very possible the unit ended up upside down during shipping. But orientation should not matter. A cell should not leak....period.
Mr. Green avoided every single one of my questions I asked after he...
That's not the point. There have been individual cells testing at 265ah's or less. This reduces the usable capacity of a pack. These cells are advertised as grade A 280ah cells. Clearly they are not grade A.
I go by the spec sheets published by the manufacturers. An EVE cell is rated for a...
No they can't be. It's possible the cells are matched however they have different model numbers. If Amy had a bunch of "66's" laying around then she should be selling those separately from the 71's and at a discount.
I am curious to hear what Amy has to say about this.
As far as we know EVE...
I hear you loud and clear. I hope this story ends with no more leaking cells delivered to anyone from Big Battery. I am curious as hell why they leaked in the first place. I just don't know what to think about this. If the vent is constructed properly, and they are, a cell should not leak even...
Zorlig makes a very good point. If buyers don't call out the suppliers when they send damaged/defective products and just let it go, why would they be motivated to change anything.
I have taken a closer look at garethb's photos and there is no way I would accept any of the three. I am not even...
Having just went through this using a 12 amp Riden power supply in charge mode this is what I know for sure. I did not receive any connecting cables with my power supply. Usually the cables that come with power supplies are cheap. I ordered 12AWG cable and soldered on ring connectors to connect...
If I had to pick I would choose the AGM setting simply because it has the lowest float voltage. There isn't much capacity to be gained charging between 14.3 and 14.6 volts and I would be concerned about the 13.8 float voltage. However if you are cycling your batteries often then the float...
WoW! I didn't notice the lack of a BMS the first time I looked at the photo but it's clear as day no BMS is being used. What kind of a "lab" is this? I would bet the voltage of the bulged cell is much higher than the other cells. TheYen, you should hold them responsible for that.
I was going to...
So I finished charging Friday morning at 1:10 A.M. I had to wait on some parts to start capacity testing the pack and I started that yesterday around 6:00 P.M. During the time there was no load connected to them, other than the BMS, they all held above 3.5 volts and the biggest difference...
He has three different versions on his website. The paperback and Kindle versions are linked to amazon. The Ebook version is linked to Sellfy. Did you receive an email receipt for the purchase? It would make things much easier for either amazon or Sellfy to track down the order. And if you...
Sorry I just noticed you had started this thread. All I can say is I am happy you are ok and were not injured. I am sorry for your battery loss. This is the second time and I hope from now on you will have good luck. It's good your family is helping you out. (y)
I think Will mentioned that in the video review he did of these batteries. What I did was charged the batteries up fully, then waited until they were at close to equal resting voltages. Mine were within .02 volts of each other when I connected them in parallel. It won't take long to get to the...
You beat me to it. I was getting ready to post this stuff.
https://www.mgchemicals.com/products/grease-for-electronics/electrically-conductive-grease/silver-conductive-grease/
I don't know if Chemtronics is better than MG Chemicals. But I would think either one is better than using carbon...
I don't know anything about extending cycle life using anything other than EVE cells. Does CATL say anything about it in their spec sheets? I know another member has said his Lishen cells do not expand and contract. It's important to get it right because too much compression is worse than no...
I am sure you know that's part of the safety specification Lishen performed to determine what the cell should be able to withstand without catching fire, exploding and other bad things. Items 12 through 16 refer to this on the spec sheet I have and that's why there is a star next to the number...
I don't know anything about shorting the leads.
Set the power supply to 3.65 volts and the current to 10 amps. Then connect the leads to the cells and be patient ...lol. Everything will be fine. You don't have to do it all at one time. You just want to make sure you are around to check the...
Sad to see you resigned but hopefully you will stay around. You have contributed very much not as only a moderator but also the resources you have provided.
I too would have locked the thread in question and would have deleted this one after the first post. Moderators actions should never be...
EVE told me the reason for a fixture is to extend cycle life. They told me a fixture designed to prevent expansion of the cells is all that is needed. It doesn't have to be complicated. If the cell hasn't expanded, there is no way to compress the pouch that is housed within the aluminum case...
Someone posted in the group buy thread they heard from Michael and he is working on getting this resolved. He has been on the forum very recently engaged in conversations. I would suggest being a bit more patient to hear from him. It would be nice if he posted an update on the forum and I am...
I agree. Why did the CEO feel the need to lie? And this isn't the first thread he has lied in. White grease anyone...?
That's true. However the battery manufacturer gave BB the ok to assemble them with the cells on their sides. While I won't argue against mounting the cells vertically and that...
I will put in my 2 cents. Forum threads get derailed all the time. There is no way to prevent it unless the OP asks to stay on topic and then those of us that are guilty try to comply. I don't think the OP @Steve_S is promoting Xuba any more and much has changed in the past few months.
Having...
I think you have a misunderstanding. He is using an inverter/charger with a built in AC transfer switch. Many on this forum are using them whether they are made by Sigineer, Aims, Sungoldpower and so on. There are also many members using AIO's such as MPP Solar and Growatt and none have reported...
I believe so. The plastic around the terminal would probably melt. The only risk free way would be to find a stud with a flange and have it laser welded as shown in this video. Thanks to fission for posting the video in another thread.
There is no way I would accept being stuck with cells I...
I sort of lost track of the progress of Sodium Ion cells. I looked into it some more today due to the discussion in the Bluetti thread.
I was surprised to find CATL has been manufacturing these cells since July of 2021 just like they said they would. And we can expect to see major improvements...
Will doesn't provide direct support the forum members. He doesn't have the time. Imagine if we were all asking him questions...it would be a full time job for him
In addition this is the humor section of the forum. I would suggest starting your own thread in the appropriate section of the...
Thank you.
All the sellers on Alibaba or anywhere else had to start somewhere. Mr. Dao started a thread here days ago. I am so far impressed.
https://diysolarforum.com/threads/what-are-the-main-brands-of-lfp-batteries-sold-in-china.9379/
From what I have read the suppliers are contracting out to have the terminals tapped. It's possible some suppliers are tapping the cells themselves in house. I don't think Lishen taps any cells. For sure Lishen is not going to send out cells looking like the photos posted.
I am disappointed by...
No...silver is best, followed by copper then gold. Maybe the high end audio stuff uses gold to prevent corrosion. I really don't know.
https://www.thoughtco.com/the-most-conductive-element-606683
I believe many of us have received new old stock cells. I know I did. I don't think anyone has received second hand or used cells. In my head I would classify some of the cells Grade A- or B+. There is a reason we get them so cheap. But that does not mean they were ever used.
It comes down to...
