First Draft: New RV Power System Diagram

That is such a gorgeous setup! Beautifully laid out. I briefly considered 24v DC. Sure would be nice from an install standpoint. But I'm set up to run most of my stuff off of 12v DC. The power lost from converting 24v to 12v didn't make sense for me. Already have the inversion tax for AC. I...

How frustrating - seems like a pretty basic thing for them to have proper settings for.

First Draft: New RV Power System Diagram

I agree! I'd love to get that setup with my onboard propane tank. I'm using the Ruuvis with my RPi and they're great. They're reporting as °F for me, wonder why they're stuck in °C for you. I assume so, because it currently integrates with my Smartshunt in my travel trailer's power system. If...

First Draft: New RV Power System Diagram

Thank you! I agree about the Smartshunt, but I was hoping to benefit from two things by getting the BMV712: the relay, and the better bluetooth signal. Smartshunt has less reliable BT signal compared to BMV 712 since the latter has the BT antenna in the display rather than directly on the shunt...

First Draft: New RV Power System Diagram

Thank you very much Jim! Appreciate the feedback and clarifications. I've updated the diagram accordingly. I'm definitely curious about the Cerbo GX. I've been using the RaspberryPi running Victron's Venus OS on my previous system and that's been good, but will looking closely at switching to a...

First Draft: New RV Power System Diagram

Hello there. I'm upgrading to a larger full time class-c RV from my little Starcraft TT, and so it's time to build a new, bigger solar power system. This is my first initial draft of what I have in mind. Still need to measure length of all the wire runs to determine wire gauges. But in the mean...

Travel Trailer with Custom Solar: Bizarre LiFePO4 Charging Behavior While Connected to Shore Power

Thank you very much. Just trying to be respectful of other people's time! The renogy inverter/charger settings are weird (manual attached). Current config is: Float Voltage: 13.8 Max Charge Voltage: 14.4 My victron Smart Shunt BMS settings are also attached. The built-in Renogy LiFePO4 BMS is...

Travel Trailer with Custom Solar: Bizarre LiFePO4 Charging Behavior While Connected to Shore Power

Check out this video of what's happening while I'm plugged into 30A shore power at a campsite: https://www.dropbox.com/s/r4ynkuemdo01ce7/fluctuation.mov?dl=0 Full system specs and diagram attached. SCC & SmartBMS Shunt settings attached too. Here's a link to the real-time VRM dashboard...

What is normal behavior for an inverter charger?

Thank you all for helping me sort this out. I believe my initial concern has been addressed. Telling the Inverter/Charger to treat the batteries as a custom configuration with float voltage specified, and recalibrating my smart shunt is now keepings the battery bank charged while connected to...

What is normal behavior for an inverter charger?

Here's the latest configuration based on folks' recommendations here: Power Sources: Shore Power (30A): Plugged in Solar Array (740W): Enabled (but sun is setting now) Renogy Inverter Charger: Config Profile: Manual Battery Type: Non-LiFePO4 (This is the only way it will allow me to set a...

What is normal behavior for an inverter charger?

Oh that’s interesting. I just tried unplugged and put a lite load on the inverter, and the array never jumped in to supply power. That’s not what normally happens for me.

What is normal behavior for an inverter charger?

This is how the smart shunt is configured:

What is normal behavior for an inverter charger?

That makes sense. The SCC is seeing 13.9. The shunt is showing a voltage of ~13.9 at 86% charge. Here’s a link to my victron VRM dashboard with real-time data: https://vrm.victronenergy.com/installation/129513/share/6b2bbe34 And here’s what both of SCCs’ parameters are configured as:
