I was having trouble finding a supplier that was able to ship to me here in Newfoundland but Freya from Exliporic on Alibaba claimed that she could. I paid $400 usd for 8 cells and another $270usd for DDP shipping. After the exchange rate it cost me about $950 CAD total. I was pleasantly...

  • Post in thread: Where to buy cells?

Any suggestions for off the shelf options that are reliable and priced well? Most I have seen would run me about $2500 for something around 25.6 volt and 300ah. The prices I've been quoted for cells to get a similar capacity are between $700 and $900 for cells. I figure another $250 for bms...

  • Post in thread: Advice on off grid solar system that came with a cabin

I purchased a cabin 6 months ago that came with and off grid solar setup that is about 10 years old. I knew going in that it would need some upgrading but I just ran into some trouble with the inverter and cant decide the best way to move forward. I wasnt expecting this expense so soon so I'm...
  • Post in thread: Where to buy cells?

I been reading threads on here over the past few years as my lead acid GC battery's have been reaching end of life. I seen many positive comments about dealing with Amy at Luyuan so I reached out to get a quote but unfortunately she couldn't ship to my address (Newfoundland, Canada). I also have...
  • Post in thread: Adding a panel to older system

    About 5 years ago I purchased an off-grid cabin with a system that was installed in 2012. The system it came with was: 4 x 180watt panels Morningstar CC - TS-MPPT-60 12 x 232ah 6volt GC2 batteries 3000 watt - 24v Inverter Iota Auto Transfer Switch - ITS-30A Iota Charger - DLS 27-25 Gas...
  • Post in thread: Where to buy cells?

Over the past week I've reach out to quite a few suppliers on Alibaba and some others in the US or Canada. Most of them replyed that they can't ship to me and the ones that said they could would end up costing over $200 USD/KWH after shipping. One of the few suppliers who claim they can ship...
  • Post in thread: Adding a panel to older system

I was having trouble finding a solution that would allow 8amp max breakers for 4 panels and a high enough rated breaker for the new panel in the same combiner box. I assume there is a way to build a customized solution but it seemed to be expensive. I thought that individual fuses although...

Thanks, That makes sense. I was wrongly assuming that each string was on a breaker instead of a fuse which can be easily swapped. I'll order the combiner box instead

I appreciate the suggestions SolarGuppy but none of those Amazon links are able to be shipped to where I live. I'm hoping Gobel Power might pull through for me but I'm still waiting for them to reply to me on if they can ship to my location.

I did in the original post. Newfoundland, Canada
  • Post in thread: Where to buy cells?

I didn't notice the option to set location info, thanks for the heads up. It's starting to seem like there may be limited shipping company's willing to ship batteries to the island.

I havent tried to hotwire and not sure where to start with that and I couldn't find a remote switch mentioned anywhere for the model inverter i have. If something like the CR8 remote can be installed on it I would give it a try but I'm not sure how to figure out if it can be installed
  • Post in thread: Adding a panel to older system

Sorry if I wasnt clear in the original post but I do already have the panel. Buying panels in small quantities where I am isn't very cost effective but I was able to get a good deal on a 500watt panel locally. If I were to buy 2 x 200 watt panels it would have cost 1.5 times as much for 20%...
