Ive had solar for a year and now the utility company charges a demand fee... not cool.

It was entirely configuration of the drains and layout of the room, and where I was willing to run a hose. So esthetics, not physics.

Ive had solar for a year and now the utility company charges a demand fee... not cool.

As @zanydroid said above, I could directly drain the water from the dryer. It wasn't convenient to drain it by gravity until I could stack the dryer on the washer, and I didn't want a hose running across the floor to the floor drain so I left it configured to catch the water in the compartment...

Ive had solar for a year and now the utility company charges a demand fee... not cool.

I like the concept of the utility incentivizing customer feed in when its needed. These incentives would let customers benefit from using small battery systems to help out the grid. This is much better than the 'pointy haired boss' option.

Ive had solar for a year and now the utility company charges a demand fee... not cool.

I do have some experience with an LG heat pump dryer. I purchased one last year as part of a long term plan to reduce air leakage of my house. I wanted to get rid of appliances that used conditioned air from inside the house and then dumped it outside. I got rid of my traditional resistance...

Ive had solar for a year and now the utility company charges a demand fee... not cool.

This is interesting news to me. I hadn't heard of utilities implementing demand based charges on residential customers. I wonder why this was chosen instead of time-of-use rates. The stated goal of both systems is to minimize the amount of generation capacity that has to be installed for peak...

I just direct shorted my brand new 135amp LiFePO4 battery - is it toast?

Hi iClick. It might be helpful to post which battery brand and model you have. From your description I am thinking its one of the 12 volt lithium batteries in a plastic case with dimensions similar to a lead acid car battery. A brief short like that would not have damaged the cells. It may...

CATL 302 Ah Cell - Not Accepting Proper Charge Amps

Hi Xhumeka. I also used the iCharger X8 to do a bunch of cell testing. It has a connector on the side to allow for voltage sense wires which can connect directly to the cell terminals and give the voltage at the terminals. This eliminates the voltage drop through the wires carrying the...

Solar Consultant says no fuse/breaker required between Pylontech batteries & bus bar -- pass the smell test?

I've been pondering the best practice for this situation. It seems most people think of the battery as the source of the current in the event of a fault. However, there are three other batteries pushing current into the bus bar, so it actually has a higher available fault current than any...

Solar PV and an induction hob

Hi Martin, I'm in the U.S. with our 240V split phase electrical system, so I don't know if this directly applies. However, I have run my 120V portable induction HOB on a 2000 watt high frequency inverter and did not notice any performance difference. On its highest setting, I think it pulled...

BATTERY SELLERS - THE GOOD, BAD, UGLY -- or Jenny (DOCAN) so far so good ...

Based on the visible portion of the encoding, that may be a Data Matrix, and not a QR Code. A QR Code has the concentric square pattern in three of the four corners. In your image, two corners of the code are visible and neither corner has that pattern. I believe it was stated earlier in the...

Interesting. Maybe my camera is struggling doing the scan on a screen. It has worked in the past. (edited because my previous reply was garbage for lack of actually looking at the content of your post. )

BATTERY SELLERS - THE GOOD, BAD, UGLY -- or Jenny (DOCAN) so far so good ...

I looked at the photos above and never noticed that these aren't QR Codes. Has CALB always used DataMatrix to code their batteries? I tried the LiFePo code scanner app on them and it doesn't work, so apparently it will only read QR Codes, which is a bit of a bummer. Looking closely at the...

I agree with the sentiment of your comment, but not the details of your 'grade A or B' terminology. Here is a short paper that lists many of the certification tests for EV grade battery cells. It was written in 2020 to compare the Chinese GB/T standards with standards from other countries...
