I feel a little skeptical of SFK. They were initially doing their tests wrong and stated that they were not with very high confidence. They also have financial incentive to bash other sellers. It's interesting data nonetheless
Sun is out and charging up again, more details to follow! Thanks to everyone for chiming in and helping me troubleshoot. My OCD will feel resolve once I regain balance :ROFLMAO:
My watchmons are in the battery case I have so I can't blow a fan on them from the outside, I think I'll use the...
Well after a couple days getting a full charge and no intervention on my part the cells are more in balance. I think I'm going to do absolutely nothing here. Putting in an active balance will be a pain in the ass since I'll need to get to all the cells, so I'm just gonna say a 30-40mV cell...
Just placed an order for 4-cases. I was mulling over the best way to store and compress my eve batteries and this really takes care of everything I could have thought of. From the video and photos it seems like a really great and well thought through build quality.
Has anyone confirmed exactly...
So they actually come with Futronics connectors, not Amphenol. The Futronics do not fit any of the Amphenol (nor would I want to mix brands) and I was unable to find where I could purchase any matching Futronics connectors in the states.
I ended up buying the amphenol terminal connections which...
Does anyone know what the current state of getting data off of the Batraium BMS (WatchmonCORE) is? I tried this repo and got it up and running in Docker, but it didn't receive any data from my Watchmon. I've also followed some other threads pulling Batrium data into Influx and Grafana but I...
We might be out of the hole here...20min into absorption and already looking better. Though the low cells then do go down lower later in absorption, each day is looking better...I think patience has been the key here
Just a quick update here, all but two cells are at 3.45v! One of them is close enough for me (3.43). The other cell is still a bit low (#48 from the batrium display) @ 3.37. I've been meaning to open my case up to manually charge this one once I'm in absorption but haven't gotten to it...I'll...
Based in California
Yes! There is a setting on the multiplus to do either 50Hz or 60Hz
Not sure exactly what you mean by off-grid mode, I am off-grid though yes. If you had a grid connection you could simple connect it to the AC Input of the multiplus. This is if you want to run all your loads...
Appreciate the info. I think it's reasonable to not want to rely on a 3rd party for something as simple as a cable/connector. In 5-years if I redo my connections I don't want to wait to have something shipped from china. I'll reach out to Adam and see if he can let me know exactly which...
I have a 4-battery packs with cells in 16S (EVE 280K) and am using the WatchMon-CORE kit with a CellMate-K9 for each pack. I have had issues with a few cells not staying balanced in different packs. What is confusing to me is the voltages batrium is reporting...if my pack voltage is 55.20 that...
Ok, changed it to 0.01
FWIW I am definitely seeing an improvement! There is only one cell at 3.38 and the other cells that had previously been low are in the 3.42-3.44 range which is very acceptable. I think patience is what I needed but also my bypass settings needing some tuning as well, so I...
I like this answer because it's simple. Yup, I planned to inspect for damage and test the cell voltage. If all I have to do is leave them in a cool and dry place that's great.
Can anyone confirm which model would fit onto the connections on the box? I believe they are the SurLock Plus with a RADSOK size of 8mm, but there are a bunch of different types with 'keyway' angles, I don't quite understand what that is...
I think you're right. What a mess! The manual should explicitly state that, or even better there should be a setting for battery communication On/Off, it shouldn't require selecting Lithium as the type to require communication. EG4 needs to work on their documentation and setup flow, this is...
Ah, if it has MQTT you can just point your HA to read values from the device over MQTT. Not to difficult. Install MQTT on the device, then you can just create multiple sensors that point to the different paths you want for values

We are back to rain for the next 3-days...so I'll have to continue the saga when we get some sunshine again. Really appreciate everyone here! And @sunshine_eggo if i can buy you a coffee or beer somehow let me know!
I used one of these for each battery: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09JS22RJC I wanted something that was 2-pole. I won't pull/push more than 160A from each box so this was fine for me
this is my sentiment. I don't mind if my cells did not pass Automotive spec, but I would like to know why they did not pass and what the spec sheet is. They could then at least be grouped properly. I know I will not get this for the cells I bought in the past but maybe it'll be provided in the...
As far as I know 200A is the max amperage (from amphenol at least) that fits the profile of the box. I have 4 battery boxes in parallel and I don't plan on pulling anywhere near 200A from each box, I could see how one might need that if you only have 1 or 2 boxes. Keep in mind they are rated for...
I bought the Multiplus and Autotransformer almost 2 years ago. This setup allows split-phase 240V without needing to run two separate inverters. All your loads will be balanced in this case. This is a 230V (it's set to 240V) Multiplus and the Victron Autotransformer which splits the 240VAC into...
I'm not saying you're right or wrong, I'm just saying I don't know if that's how it was designed. The folks who designed it are in this thread and I'm sure will chime in.
You might be right on the EVE batteries. I thought it was in the spec sheet but I can't find it now that I look. Curious to...
I believe this is the connector if you want to crimp your own: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/654-SLPPB50BSO
I will confirm if/when I receive my boxes. Ordered March 23rd and still waiting.
@sunshine_eggo @jtvt I had some great help from Wolf (author of some online posts for Batrium data to Grafana) on the second life storage thread. I got it all up and running and posted a summary here: https://secondlifestorage.com/index.php?threads/batrium-and-grafana.10616/post-84298
From my understanding the the reason to compress them is that repeated expansion over time is what causes reduced cycle life of the cells. One balance un-compressed is not going to cause you issues. Many people don't even compress the cells at all, you'll be fine :)
I don't have a MSBS0 or any BMS yet, hence this post :)
Download the MQTT Explorer app and point it to the IP address and port of your SMBS0. It will give you a list of all the data available. The default port for mqtt is 1883. You won't need a username/pass unless one is set on your SMB. You...
Over the next few weeks I'll be setting up a new battery system for my off-grid home. I bought 64 EVE Lifepo cells (280Ah@3.2V). I'll be setting them up in 4 groups of 16S (16S4P?).
I feel a bit unclear on how to charge the batteries up to 90% SOC. I'm assuming that's determined by the...
I called some local solar installers in the area who said having it come through the same junction box is fine and ideally if you can create some sort of wall/separation between the two it should be just fine. They are not worried about it actually causing issues in the system. They noted that...
My contact is also Henry. Has been a little hard to understand if the delay is the lockdown, or production, or waiting for shipping...etc. I can be patient, just wanting a little more info on the status of things :)
I think I was initially wrong, based on the diagram I posted I would say the 8.0 looks right. If someone can measure the width of their futronics connector in mm that would tell you (I'm away so I can't).
Did you find a place to buy futronics connectors?
Thanks for checkin' in! Telemetry below..numbers are slightly higher from yesterday. How does it look to you?
My sense is that the low cells are getting better...slowly. Cell #25 used to be in the 3.37 range at this point of absorption and is now at 3.4. Cell #48 still struggling but this...
Thank you. Your explanation and others I have read is helping me lean towards Batrium still.
Do you have any recommendations for Shunt Trip breakers? I know you mentinoed ABB, Can these breakers be turned back on remotely or does it require manual human intervention?
I would also assume I need...
Feels a bit off topic here but I'll humor you. My main reason is I already own a Batrium BMS, so I'm not going to pay for another BMS when I already have one. I went with Batrium because they have some really nice ways to access data which I want to display in my Homeassistant and build...
I'm looking at the datasheet for the contactor/relay and want to make sure I understand it right. You have it between either your Positive or Negative lead to the battery (but not both), and when you remove power from the aux wires of the relay opens and cuts the connection between your lead...
FWIW I can get the 72Kwh of these cells shipped for $7000. I still need a BMS. That is still quite a bit cheaper than the $10,400 - With that price do you still feel similar?
The ones I linked are 48V, but I would be cutting the bus bars on them to make them 24V (for reasons I mentioned in my original post).
Yes, aware of the possibility of thermal runaway.
Thank you for this response. All this advice is helpful and is confirming a lot of thoughts I've already had about the setup. I'm also off-grid, but there are occasions where I might be gone for a month or two and it's nice to have things automated, hence a shutoff that can be turned back on by...
What I don't understand is why do the lower voltage cells have higher bypass mAh? Wouldn't the higher value cells be the ones burning off mAh? Or do I have it backwards?
Documentation says longmons are accurate up to `.001` but Batrium rounds which is annoying, so you only ever see `.000` or `.005` in the mV range. A measurement error of `.02V` would be a HUGE issue in my opinion and if they are off by that much then what the hell is batirum even doing in the...
I am in a home and charging from solar. House is off-grid.
In that case you suggest floating at the Abs voltage? Why is that your suggestion, because of the limited time it sits in Abs before the sun goes down?
This is a great video, watched it the other night. The only thing to keep in mind is he's just testing 1-cell, results would differ quite a bit with a 64-cell battery.
I just got in 64 280Ah EVE cells from Doucan. I live off-grid and will be replacing my FLA's with these (excited!).
What kind of materials/setups are folks rigging up to compress the batteries (for those who do compress)?
Ayyyy, came here from my post we were commenting on. Question about your pre-charge. Since the contactor/relay is wired through the pre-charge, and the pre-charge to the BMS, is there any special setting on the BMS you needed to do, or do you just configure it as if it's a relay?
Damn, I remember learning about economizers for these devices and just figured mine had one...for the price it should.
Off-hand do you know which Contactors have economizers? Or is it possible to build my own? I'm not sure how economizers work under the hood.
I'm excited for this box but I'm not going to wait much longer for them to ship. It's delaying my build if I'm planning around these boxes. I was told I would receive tracking info this week but nothing yet. I'll be requesting a refund if I don't get anything by Friday. If they stock in the US...
I wonder if it resets when I update settings? I don't understand...I set my absorption time to 3hrs so it is holding the cells at 55.2/3.45 for that amount of time. It's definitely longer than that.
Yes totally, the majority are in balance but there are about 3-4 outliers between 3.37 and 3.40...
Everything makes sense for me here except this. Can you expand on what the high-speed diode does? Does it literally just need to be connected to the + & - terminals of the contactor relay?
Thank you for the response, and good to know that just in general. An update on my project, I now have 64 EVE 280Ah LiFePO4 batteries I'm prepping to install! Not going the route I originally mentioned but thanks to all the advice here I feel very good about the new setup I have!
Great question, and yes these were all initially top-balanced. I slowly brought them up to 3.64v and used and active balancer. They were all in balance. They also were in balance at the beginning of december when I would get to a full charge. We had a very cloudy late december and january so...
It's been about 50F in my garage where they are stored so I've been ok. They are just getting to 60-65C when they have been balancing, so about 10C below where they shut off. I will probably install some fans before summer comes. I forget, do the fans plug directly into the k9 or do I need to...
I think they're a good company, they're not hiding the fact that batteries are used. For folks who know what their doing and how to work with cells I think they're great. That deal I linked specifically won't work for me and super appreciate the help of folks here to figure that out.
@sergea placed an order last week for 4 of these. Do you know what the lead times are and when I should expect these to ship out? I'm in the US and they'll be shipping by sea. Really excited to have these and building the area in my garage where they will be stored.
Thank you! That I can do.
Question with that setup: Currently it's pulling about 13W. If I add the resistor and capacitor as you described, wouldn't that same amount of power be used up in the resistor now instead of the contactor?
Knowing what I know about Lithium I started looking for a tool that would let me limit the SOC of my macbook battery. The newer MacOS's will even do this to an extent by learning when you use and charge your battery, but didn't give me as much control as I wanted.
I found this application while...
I think you're right here. We had 3-weeks of mostly clouds with sparse sun. We are getting back to some sunny days where I will reach a high enough voltage to balance. I'll keep these settings for a bit and see what happens. They are new cells, only put into service in August and QR code shows...
3-months later and I finally got a scan on my UPS label ? - expecting to have had the flying bus bars like most others reported, I'll report back on my shipment when they arrive (scheduled for tuesday).
Ohhhhhkay. Yeah this is the information I needed. Doesn't seem wise to have 70BMS's!
This would require pulling and re-doing the existing spot welds? If so that's exactly what I was hoping to avoid...
Can you explain why that is? What specifically makes these geared for high-voltage? If my...
Everything arrived earlier this week. And as excited as I am I have to say the packing/shipping is deplorable. One of my boxes had damage on it the case (see photos). Everything seems as if it was thrown on the inside and was flying around. It was a bit of a mess to clean up and organize.
All...
I have since let this idea go, for those reasons and others. Makes sense just to have one Shunt Trip for the whole battery and to manually re-enable it if a fault occurs.
I know it can cut/alter the charging current which makes sense in many scenarios, but in a scenario where the Shunt Trip is...
Can you help me out here again...I'm considering 48V now as it will save me a lot on hardware for my charge controller for the number of panels I want to add.
What battery configuration would you recommend for 48V? I already purchased 64 of the Eve batteries from doucan. Would I just do 2P16S x...
I need to buy a roll of wire that I'll be using for my BMS & balance leads. I think solid core makes sense but I'm open to suggestions. Do folks here have any go-to high-quality wire that they like to use in the 18-20AWG range?
Ok...thank you all for your advice here. Clearly these do not seem like the right application for my situation.
While I have you here...I have been eyeing the Eve LiFePO4 cells. I'm sure you're familiar with them around this forum. If my math is right I would need put them in sets of 8S to make...
So I'm getting little to no progress with balancing here. For instance cell 48 was initially at 3.40. But it and the other low cells drop to 3.38 (edit, now 3.37).
I upped the charging voltage to 55.45 (measured at the shunt), as the voltage for each pack is closer to 55.2 which is my actual...
Hey Folks - I have 64 LiFePO4 Eve cells coming my way, but I won't be able to install them for another 3-4months. I need some advice on how I should balance and store them.
Does it make sense to put groups of them in parallel to let them balance? Should I connect a BMS now and let it keep them...
@Rossman Excited to see you got your boxes in! Making me feel a bit more confident. Please post more pics/details when you can.
I was told by Adam: "I will give you tracking information within this week" - So we'll see what happens. I am sympathetic to them and I just wish there was a bit more...
Would this also be suitable for lower speeds as well (i.e. safe to use in any case) or no? Sorry, this part of diodes exceed my electrical engineering knowledge so I appreciate your help.
I'm using an ESP to control a PWM chip, AFAIK I should have no problem setting it to 200Hz with a 40-50%...
This is what I came here for, I didn't realize this makes a difference. So with 2P8S x 4 can I still use 1BMS for them all, or would I need 4 BMS's for each group
I have read multiple threads and watched many YouTube videos on this BMS before posting here. I for the life of me cannot get my 2x 200A JK BMS to turn on with my 16s system. I have tried the 9V jumper method and even used my DC Power supply to try and jump it to turn on. It also came with the...
