Signature solar website now says shipping late September. They didn’t specify which September.
  • Post in thread: What is the simple answer for off grid grounding ?

If your array is ground mounted with metal racking going into the ground then it is earthed by default. The panels should be bonded back to the system. In my case that is EMT conduit 18” underground with a 10awg equipment ground conductor (green wire) running with PV back to the inverter. Panels...
  • Post in thread: EG4 BrightMount increasing wind load rating.

Ground mount is the only option I am willing to entertain. My roof is 1 year old and I do not want leaks or dealing with a panel fire or fire from the rapid shut down equipment failure.
  • Post in thread: Signature Solar Honest Customer Service Experience

I have two 6500s never a problem, it might be due to the fact they have never had power run through them yet. Someone could easily assume there is a problem and that’s why SS is offering a upgrade program that for a $750 each credit they get out of the warranty.
  • Post in thread: EG4 BrightMount increasing wind load rating.

Not complaining about the code, the question was how to improve the strength of what I have on hand. I did see the trees along I-10 very few things can stand up to a cat 5 storm. If a monster cat 5 comes through most things will be destroyed. Most solar panels are rated at 2400 Pa that puts...
  • Post in thread: Paralleling the EG4 PowerPro Wall battery.

It will vary state by state. Here in Florida your homes roof must meet code when built. 2021 changed that if you have work done on your roof it must be brought up to current code. 2022 Florida home owners started being contacted by their insurance company asking when was the last time your roof...
  • Post in thread: How to run 12 volt on 48 volt system?

You are welcome, take your time on your project, know what you need and how to do it safely. There is enough energy in these batteries that if done incorrectly can burn down your project or possible kill someone. It’s easy to spend money fast, just make sure it’s the right solution for you...
  • Post in thread: PowerPro availability

They are actually shipping. My order 8/28 notice of shipping 10/17 contacted today by trucking company for delivery tomorrow around noon 10/20.
  • Post in thread: RE+ solar conference is fast approaching! What new products or booths are you interested in?

Old guy here, glad you found a niche in the market and made it work. Well done you!
  • Post in thread: PowerPro availability

Looking at my order for 18KPv and 2 powerpro batteries shows update 16 Oct 2023. Go into the order and the change displays Shipped to my home address. No email or shipping details like tracking or carrier. It’s almost exciting. I will update if details show up.
  • Post in thread: Delta Pro won't run my Well Pump....

You can add pressure tanks to your existing pressure tank and your well pump will run longer but it will start up less often. The down side is cost and space. The upside you will extend the life of your pump and have more water on hand if you can’t power the pump. I currently run two 80 gallon...
  • Post in thread: Emf radiations and dirty electricity claims... solutions or ignore ?

Sorry for late reply. I looked everywhere even Amazon and nobody stocks tin foil anymore. Not sure Aluminum is up to the task.
  • Post in thread: EG4 18kPV Q+A general thread

If you can make those connectors work with 4awg wire from the Chargeverter. In my case I have extra cables and will be using a Polaris tap 3/0-4awg to join with the 4 awg wire. These are actually a few dollars more then the connectors you are using. They weren’t available when I was looking...
  • Post in thread: PowerPro availability

Just notified by Signature Solar my order from 8/28 has shipped.
  • Post in thread: Solar (or not) generator for standby power.

I am looking to have two inlet ports. 30amp for generator through Chargeverter and a 50amp connected to the generator port. I currently have a 50amp RV hookup and extension cord for a welder. If grid power is available, will use that. Portable generator for other times. During hurricane...
  • Post in thread: Battery fire safety

I share your concerns about battery safety. I believe LFP is safer than the rest but are not immune from thermal runaway. I opted for battery packs that are outdoor rated with built in heating. Living in the southern part of zone 8 cold is not my biggest issue. With the possibility of instant...
  • Post in thread: EG4 BrightMount increasing wind load rating.

I agree and believe the code is minimum for safety. I don’t try to achieve the minimum for safety. I generally will always use larger wire then called for. Where I live if water is out you also loose sewage system. Using bottled water to make a toilet flush is not as fun as it sounds. My...
  • Post in thread: Question

Sure. You most likely will have a connector on your PV line that can be disconnected.
  • Post in thread: Help In Land O Lakes, FL

If an inspector is looking at it they will probably want something like a generator interlock switch to prevent accidental line feedback.
  • Post in thread: EG4 BrightMount increasing wind load rating.

    Nice setup.
  • Post in thread: PowerPro availability

900 pounds of adult fun from Signature Solar. Not excited about the stickers I have found so far. I opened the boxes looking for damage but lot ready to install so still packaged. This is the only sticker I have seen yet on the outside of the boxes.
  • Post in thread: RE+ solar conference is fast approaching! What new products or booths are you interested in?

Not a server rack but the new EG4 PowerPro is listing a 200amp charge/discharge.
  • Post in thread: How to run 12 volt on 48 volt system?

Just a thought, IF you are only using 12v equipment why not get the same size battery in 12v? Assuming you have not already purchased. 12v 400 amp has the same energy as 48v 100 amp. Each time you convert from one voltage to another there is a energy tax for each transaction (your battery...
  • Post in thread: What is the simple answer for off grid grounding ?

Just curious, I am still pretty new at this. Without grounding, how do you keep the the extra energy from just using your conductors to go from panels to shed?
  • Post in thread: Hybrid EG4 18k grid tie questions

I am in the same situation as you. I have the 18Kpv with 2 powerpro batteries on order. I have a 30amp inlet box for portable generator to power a Chargeverter direct to powerpro and a 50amp inlet box wired to the generator input on the 18Kpv. 50amp extension cord to RV box with grid power when...
  • Post in thread: PowerPro availability

Two adults can move the battery pack, one at a time. Easier using leverage tools such as a hand truck. In my case 62yo male with help of 45 yo male neighbor with health issues were able to move two powerpro batteries to storage before instillation. Plan to use tractor boom or chain hoist to help...
  • Post in thread: Hybrid EG4 18k grid tie questions

Still showing backorder. I assume waiting for the certified batteries that now say expected to begin shipping Late-September. In my case it’s fine as I am not ready to place them yet. I am doing an outside install and pouring a large step to have them above the grade around it with a cover...
  • Post in thread: How do I lay wire across gravel pad?

Remember if you have great conduit and it goes underground the wire you use must be rated for wet location.
  • Post in thread: Hybrid EG4 18k grid tie questions

Just a little more on my setup. The Chargeverter has 4awg cables and the powerpro batteries have a 2/0awg cable. I will join them with a Polaris tap.
  • Post in thread: EG4 6500EX-48 Expansive lesson learned!

I feel your pain, I just pulled two 6500s off my wall now waiting for the 18Kpv and powerwall batteries. The only thing saving me was I am moving inverter and planned rack of batteries to the outside of my wife’s shop wall. She was glad to get her space back and felt better after explaining the...
  • Post in thread: PowerPro availability

Problem was the batteries were first on the pallet running with the center support of the pallet. The 2 batteries were 740 pounds with packing material. The thinner slats running between the three main supports could not handle the tall stack for a total of 935 pounds. If the load was turned the...
  • Post in thread: Inadequate concrete footers for EG4 Brightmount

Something to consider if you are using the anchor bolts that come with the BrightMount system. They are 10mm and directions are to drill 1/2” hole. It’s a loose fit, I switched out to 1/2” x 5” wedge anchor bolts.
  • Post in thread: PowerPro availability

I might be a little slow, I know I need new glasses. After printing the authorization to mark and reading the mode numbers then comparing this to the 9540A cert listing model WP-16/280-3-AWLL. Is it called something else on the 9540 cert?
  • Post in thread: My first solar setup, would like some input please

Just a heads up, we should get info on the PowerPro batteries soon. I have some on order and the status at SS has changed to shipped. No confirmation email yet just visible through my account page.
  • Post in thread: Weize Batteries Arrive With BMS Shut Down

I got lucky last year, I saw the Weize 12v 100 amp advertised for $249. I took a chance and ordered one. It arrived in good shape. I went back on Amazon to order a second one and found the company no longer listed. The next day I found another battery with the same shipping info as the first...
  • Post in thread: Interlock circuit with outside inlet for generator and inside inlet for solar?

I have my generator inlet wired to the inverter and the inverter going to the panel with the interlock for the breaker. Not sure if your inverter supports that configuration but it works for me.
  • Post in thread: PV cables & grounds

Not enough information, wire size will depend on amperage and the panels will need bonding through your inverter that should be bonded back to your home ground through your main panel.
  • Post in thread: EG4 Chargeverter UK 240V Mains Wiring

Please keep us updated. The Chargeverter is setup for the American market with its 240v being split into two 120v lines. It runs fine on one of the lines at 120v. Not sure how it will do with 240v going over a single line. Make sure is all I am saying...
  • Post in thread: Eg4 18k and powerwall batteries order delay?

My order from 8/28 shipped yesterday from Signature Solar.
  • Post in thread: Considerations when using PVC conduit to run off-grid solar cables through side of detached garage

Haven’t tried that yet. I only used nonmetallic in my well pump house. Later replaced with EMT to give them a challenge. The rats marked up some schedule 40 pvc.
  • Post in thread: PowerPro availability

I agree, SS has treated me well in the past and each item I got was what I asked for. The items that did not ship well were replaced quickly. I don’t suspect this order will have a different outcome. If by chance this ends up as a fraud situation I pity the fool there. Between lawsuits and...
  • Post in thread: Too many disconnect options -- help choosing please!

Going back to the disconnect needing to be within 3 feet of the panel and originally stated a rooftop array. It would seem a manual disconnect would be impractical for this setup unless you had a really low roof structure.
  • Post in thread: PowerPro availability

Any new rumors for the PowerPro? Problems with certification process? Misspellings on the label? These batteries are heavy and we are having trouble putting on the labels? Post Office lost the labels and we had to reorder? Anything? Just asking.
  • Post in thread: Chargeverter "problem" - Anyone else?

Mine came with a 30 amp generator plug that should work as is.
  • Post in thread: I really like the new powerpro battery..

I ordered the EG4 combo 18Kpv with 2 PowerPro batteries. Has anyone found a way to blend it with the EG4 Chargeverter? The manual for the 18Kpv shows direct generator support but I am still concerned with modified sine wave issues.
  • Post in thread: Federal Tax Credit and State Sales Tax questions

Part or your answer. I am from Florida also and when purchasing from Signature Solar the recognized the address and did not add state sales tax.

  • Post in thread: Solar (or not) generator for standby power.

I want a battery powered power system for emergency power with portable generator support. Lots of options out there but my requirement is outdoor rated and grandchild resistant. Safe and expandable required. I like lithium batteries but do not trust them in or on my house. Will mount outside me...
  • Post in thread: Chargeverter Woes

One other option is what I did. Wire a generator inlet box outside and wire it to an outlet inside. If you are wanting house power then just ad the outlet instead of altering something that might need a warranty claim.
