  • Post in thread: How’s it look?

I'm waiting on my PV connectors until the solar array is set up. I also have a ground rod outside and connected to the service panel. I have no other panel for my cabin, so i installed this one with the 3 circuits. I STILL don't know if my model creates an NG bond. For now, I left the NG...

I’ll try. I only have 2 hands. Haha

I’m ready to attach the batteries soon ((4) SOK batteries in series for 48v)). I wired up the panel with 3 circuits for now. Solar panels may take a few more weeks till I get them installed. Just wanting to see how long these batteries will last running my offgrid cabin until I get the 3600w...

    Sweet! You rock!
  • Post in thread: I am really struggling. Neutral and hot both are energized.

I am completely offgrid. No grid power for miles. So, from what I’m understanding is that I should attach the ground bar to the neutral bar in the circuit box? Or is this one of those deals where I need to take apart the inverter and remove that ground neutral screw that some people have talked...
  • Post in thread: cable size?? fuse size??

I've watched so many videos on how to setup a Growatt 3000 system, but the one thing i can never seem to find is what cable and fuse sizes i need to use? I bought a 3000w Growatt inverter, (4)SOK batteries (12v x 206ah), and I have 3600 watt solar panel array (12 x 300w panels). While connecting...

You did offer me some useful information on here, and it is much appreciated. You all have. My 2nd meter showed the same voltages as the first.
  • Post in thread: I am really struggling. Neutral and hot both are energized.

Would running the wire between the neutral and ground bar “fix” the problem if the problem originated from inside the inverter? Believe it or not, I’m miles ahead of where I was 3 weeks ago in regards to electricity, but obviously not an expert. Hence, the questions.
  • Post in thread: cable size?? fuse size??

The SOK batteries have 5/16' lugs. My hope is to get everything i need for this system, but then to have a second set of more experienced eyes help me set it up.
  • Post in thread: Neutral ground screw

I'm almost there ! Thanks to every one of you experts on this site i'm going to start installing most of my solar setup this weekend. I do have a question about using the green bonding screw in my panel though. I am TOTALLY offgrid. I'll be setting up my Growatt 3000 48v inverter this week. I...
  • Post in thread: I am really struggling. Neutral and hot both are energized.

I’m REALLY struggling. All my outlets are telling me that I have an open ground. I checked all outlets and ground rod and everything is solid. So, I check the circuit panel and all breakers are in the off position but they are still hot. I took video and pics but I’m completely baffled. I...

  • Post in thread: EG4 Chargeverter help.

I guess the biggest problem i have is that it says on signature solar's website that it can be used with a 240 OR a 120V system with an adapter. If there is no adapter that works, then why post it on their website? i need to find an electrician. Unfortunately, I live so far off grid (accessible...

I just whet thru the manual again. Unless I’m overlooking it I didn’t see anything in there regarding this.

Hello all, i'm new to this site although i've been watching Will's videos for about a year now. I'm a total newbie when it comes to solar. I just moved to an off grid cabin. Right now, I'm trying to piece together a system for my 400 sq foot cabin. I'm attempting to buy as much of the hardware...
  • Post in thread: I am really struggling. Neutral and hot both are energized.

I am nowhere near grid power. Unless I pay them to run the nearest electric 5 miles to my house through the wilderness. I don’t have over a million bucks in my bank account. ?
  • Post in thread: EG4 Chargeverter help.

Having a problem with the chargeverter I received a couple of weeks ago. I have 3 generators. A Honda 2000, a Champion 2500, and a Champion 4350/3500 dual fuel. The plug in cord that came with the chargeverter doesn’t match any of the outlets on my generator. I called signature solar today and...

Thank you for your reply. I bought the 3kw model that is 120v. The place I'm at is near Harriet, Arkansas. I am actively shopping for panels on CL and FB marketplace. I was thinking about 3kw of panels. I was hoping the battery capacity would be good for what little I'm running. i did forget...
  • Post in thread: I am really struggling. Neutral and hot both are energized.

Update: I disconnected the 3 wires from the circuit box. I tested those hot/neutral and hot/ground. 2 voltages. One is 57, other is 63. Therefore, it’s coming from inside the inverter. At least I know my circuit panel and wiring is good. What do I need to do for the inverter now?
  • Post in thread: What size resistor?

Hello, Somewhere on the forums i saw the size resistor i would need to precharge my 48v 3000w Growatt. Now, I can't find it anywhere. Does anybody recall the resistor i would need so i don't have to have an unintended fireworks show in my workshop/solar shed? If not, how about the size of...
  • Post in thread: Fuse size and cable size?

Hello. I am almost to the point of getting my solar system up and running. I have read SO much about solar (electricity is my mental block) that I am now starting to confuse myself. I have a 3000w Growatt 48v inverter. I also have (4) SOK batteries that i plan on connecting in series (12v...

Maybe a face-to-face to see what your setup is like? That may help me understand it a little more than watching videos all day. Thank you.

Just to confirm… bulb between neutral and ground coming out of inverter. Also, inverter should be “on” position?
  • Post in thread: cable size?? fuse size??

Thank you so much for your reply. Would these be adequate for connecting the 4 SOK batteries into series? Thanks again...

I have this handy. Will this work? Thank you!
  • Post in thread: I am really struggling. Neutral and hot both are energized.

The lightbulb did NOT light up between neutral and ground. Showed 57v. Lightbulb did light up between hot/neutral. 120v.

  • Post in thread: EG4 Chargeverter help.

As I am completely braindead when it comes to electrical terminology in regards to the prior responses...is the link you shared the correct adapter? it looks like it. Do i have to do any re-wiring of the cord that came with the chargeverter or is this adapter just a plug and play? When i spoke...
  • Post in thread: I am really struggling. Neutral and hot both are energized.

Only bulb I have. In another post they said this would be good for pre-charging the inverter.
  • Post in thread: What size resistor?

Thank you to you both. One wire from battery terminal to “base” of bulb, and other wire from inverter to “brass color” part of bulb (the screw in part of bulb)? Sorry, I don’t know the nomenclature of a lightbulb ?
  • Post in thread: I am really struggling. Neutral and hot both are energized.

Just confirmed. 65v now and NO light whatsoever. ?
  • Post in thread: Need help and a little direction

Thank all of you for your helpful information so far. I do need to buy cable to hook the batteries up in series. With the batteries being 12v 206ah, should i just go with 4 gauge cables? Also, in Will's video of the 3k Growatt setup, he doesn't mention the need for fuses in the cables. Is this...
  • Post in thread: Need help and a little direction

Also, will the wattage of the generator increase the speed of topping off the batteries? Should i go with a bigger generator? I have read alot about how the generator should be an inverter type generator. That is the reason i was looking at the generator i posted earlier. Thanks !
  • Post in thread: EG4 Chargeverter help.

While i wish i could buy a new generator at the moment, its just not in the budget. I broke the bank with over 10K invested into my solar system already. I was hoping to use a generator that doesn't GULP the fuel down. Sure don't want to use 5 gallons of gas to top off my batteries every other...
  • Post in thread: cable size?? fuse size??

Thank you rmaddy. The issue is i'm having a difficult time drawing a schematic when i have no idea where the fuses are supposed to go, let alone the size of cables i'm supposed to use. If i could afford a new rack system type of battery it looks like it would solve most of my issues...

That being said, if i come up with more cash i wouldn't mind having a larger generator on hand just for the reasons you stated. Thank you.
  • Post in thread: Growatt 3000 48v system distribution box recommendation?

I am in the final stages of hooking up my solar system. Hoping by this weekend. This is a completely offgrid setup. Growatt 3000 48v inverter. I have no distribution box as i am currently using only my generator to power the cabin. I'm wondering if somebody could recommend a good, cheap...

Tim, so I should just run a wire between the ground bar and the neutral bar( in the panel) like the prior gentleman suggested?
  • Post in thread: cable size?? fuse size??

My loads will be very simple for this 400 sq foot cabin. 2 wall lights, (1) 10 cu foot chest freezer, laptop, phone charger, and i'll be running a window AC unit during the summer months. Everything combined should be 2000 watts or less. The cabin is mostly bare bones and i'm just looking at...

I do have a #6 grounding wire attached to a ground rod. Unfortunately, I don’t have anything else metal to attach to. No plumbing, etc. Thank you again. I’ll let you know how this goes. Also, you said a #10 wire between N and G bars?
