I've learned a lot this short while in order to be able to go back and forth with PoCo goons. Starting to think I should've just spent time researching and DIY'd it.

I could, but the process could take a long time and I'd rather modify the system to make it acceptable. I'm waiting to hear back from the installer, if they fail to procure an acceptable solution, I'll have no choice but to take legal action. That would be a last resort and I'd like to avoid the...

Yes, in hindsight I should've done my research as well and not taken the installer's word. We did the get the unit derated to 10 kW to comply with that portion, we have an official derate letter from Luxpower as well which the PoCo used to wipe its ass with. I'm hoping my installer will find a...

That's the form for net metering, which I did fill before and was rejected. So decided to just add another battery and go with non-export. They have another form for backup generation that I attached in the OP that I'm guessing is the one I should fill out once I add the ATS. That's IF they...

I would love to, but sadly currently that's not a feasible option.

They shut off and locked the solar system disconnect that's by the meter. It's required by code to be there for emergency staff access, and ofcourse to screw over regular folks.

This makes sense, if there's some kind of an automatic transfer switch that can completely isolate my loads from the grid and use the system to power them, and then as soon as battery+solar run out, isolate the system and switch to grid, maybe they would accept it. For sure, I will have to have...

From looking at their website seems they have a completely different methodology for allowing interconnection of system's like that, where they do an impact assessment and what not. For measly systems like mine, they throw a hissy fit.
  • Post in thread: Any issues having grid-tied microinverter (APSmart) with an existing Generlink?

Thanks for the reply Tim. Sounds like a solution would definitely be needed as you say it's an expensive gamble. About the relay/contactor, can you expand on that? How would we go about doing this? Through the use of CTs at the GenerLink inlet, and then the relya/contactor wired in series with...

Hi everyone, First off, sorry if this is in the wrong section. I've been dealing with a huge headache lately and don't know how to proceed. I hired a company to install a grid-tied 12 kW roof mounted system (Luxpower 12k, 11 kW of PV and 2 x pytes 5.12 kWh). We applied for net metering but was...
  • Post in thread: Help with grid-tied microinverters and GenerLink safe co-existence.

Hi All, Helping my neighbour with planning his solar project. He has one of those Generlink meter socket things for whole house backup power, will there be any issues installing a grid tied APSmart DS3-L microinverter system connected at the main panel through a PV breaker...

Most of them seem to be, but there are a few who are really hard heads when it comes to solar, they refuse to educate themselves on the technology, and I can't seem to get through them, I don't want to piss them off more than they already are. Unfortunately, they consider ICE generators...
  • Post in thread: Any issues having grid-tied microinverter (APSmart) with an existing Generlink?

Well that's the thing, I don't think the utility sensors or relays on the GenerLink can be modified to control the PV breaker relay/contactor. Is there any other way to achieve this?

sad state of afairs, but atleast we're not Australia or New Zealand. What's weird is that only a few PoCos seem to have this hardliner rule, a lot of them do accept load displacement without issue. Here, we have an energy board that's sets the codes for solar and battery systems for PoCos to...
  • Post in thread: Help! PoCo locked my system! Don't know what to do...

This is great. Definitely better than being out $40k. There's some concepts that I need to research from your reply, would happen to have a good ATS model recommendation for this purpose? So if there's no grid pre sync, does that mean that my loads will experience total power loss for a short...

Yes, batteries are located in garage in the Pytes enclosure.
