I own and operate an off-grid ranch in Santa Barbara. My technical training is as an aircraft pilot, but I've always done my own mechanical, electrical, building, and dirt work.
Current or Future Solar Power System
I have 4 different systems that I'm trying to optimize.
1. Sungold Power 24V 6000W split phase fed by 3 Schneider Electric 60 150 MPPT charge controllers, 5400W solar panels at 92 Voc, and 920AH Li Time Lithium Batteries. Li Time and TriMetric Battery Monitors. Back-up AC power is Cummins Onan 35KW Diesel at 240V AC. (L1, L2, N)
2. Outback FX2024 (old version from 2001) with FlexMax 80 charge controller, 2048W solar panels at 75 Voc, Xantrex 24V30A charger supplement, on 528AH 24V Lead Acid. AC power back up from System #1 using Acme 240-120 step down Transformer 5kva.
3. Magnum 1500W 12V Inverter Charger, no panels, on 232 AH 12V Lead Acid Batteries. AC charging is done with 7.5KVA 240-120 Step Down Transformer.
4. Xantrex 1800W 12V Inverter Charger, no panels, on 464AH 12V Lead Acid Batteries. AC Charging is done with 15KVA 240-120 Step Down Transfomer.
