Well in my country the sunlight time is shortening drastically and now I have stupid hard shade from a highrise for an hour or so.
Killing my production all round.
Good news I took a tree down and can now put two more panels up to mitigate this, even though they'll be in 100% shade for part of...
And in steps D. Trump.
Already some of these companies are manufacturing in USA over China.
What a fucking legend for trying to bring jobs back to the country.
Now he's flawed on many ways don't get me wrong, but this is a first for the capitalist world we live in.
A man with fucking balls...
Took some shots of my little DIY cart as it's almost complete now, just need the AC wired in and we're done.
Rear of truck.
Inverter wiring so far.
Had to trim the lugs down to fit the battery terminals. Standard 2/0 lugs are huge. Couldn't get any with slim spades for 70mm².
Just waiting to...
No.
The point is to do it GREEN.
You can still own more than two pairs of underwear and have a low impact on the earth.
You should look at powering a small desal/filtration plant.
Aquaponic systems.
Power a sewing machine, you should have sheep on your solar producing land. Then you can...
Then my suggestions are on point.
A small desal/ filtration system for water.
Aquaponic systems.
A sewing machine for your clothes.
Self sufficient items to make use of your excess solar power.
If it were me, I'd be buying a washing machine and some clothes before anything is done.
Like...
Yeah but it's 2025 not 1900.
People actually clean themselves and try to look respectable in society, to you know become a functioning part of it.
In this day and age you need nice clean clothes and amenities.
Scrubbing your two potato sacks with your unshaven face/leg in the muddy cesspool...
My SPF 5000 ES turns on automatically every morning and starts charging the battery. It gets triggered by the panel voltage going over 120v.
It does this if the battery is at any charge level. I am using a growatt battery with coms.
The switch is in the off position.
It uses less power in...
Exactly.
Imagine having no data and just blindly fumbling around with no factual data.
Crazed. Like putting faith in a book that was written to dumb the masses by governments.
Mind boggling.
Lol.
That's communication from your devices.
You are monitoring your devices.
To allow that to happen, they are communicating information.
You are using comms.
My point was op can still wear clean clothes and have a shower everyday without impacting the earth in some ungodly way.
Not showering and only owning two sets of clothes is downright disgusting.
Imagine the impact op has when just walking down the street with all the other humans that roam...
No idea what you mean by this. It won't start without solar voltage, that's obvious.
But it will start up in the off position and charge the battery, again irrespective of battery charge status, or float from the previous day.
It also does start if it's "dark" outside, as long as the PV...
I'm running a Growatt 5.5 L series rack mount battery with a SPF5000ES. Works great.
I'd contact ANJ. They'll give you an answer immediately. Amazing customer service.
@timselectric
I am actually going with a different PV isolator switch here -
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364477425924
I am assuming it won't really matter here as it is just a disconnect, or should I stick with a 16 amp 500v?
Mainly due to availability and price.
Thanks
A couple of things I'm not sure about.
The battery needs grounding, the growatt inverter doesn't have a ground.
Can I just sand some of the chassis and add a bolt?
Or is grounding at the AC ground points an option?
Also the precharge procedure is built into the battery but not too sure how...
Not sure I understand you here.
74 nights, 84 days year around?
What exactly does that mean?
Then you say 22c-28c average year around?
Do you mean the other 261 days are not average 22-28?
Lol, no idea what you mean...22-28 sounds too hot if that's the actual yearly average.
10c would be...
It's like 10 button presses lol.
Why on earth would you add/purchase another device to do what the inverter can already do.
Makes no sense whatsoever.
If you've got the dongle you could do it on your phone, anywhere, anytime.
You missed the key point.
Americans get those jobs.
Americans spend the money in America, hopefully on more American products, so the money stays in the country at every level.
If only our leaders would take the blinkers off and wake up to this.
They sold our water, power, telecommunications...
Doesn't need to be a cable.
Communication can happen wirelessly.
We've been doing that for decades?
Cables are ancient technologies.
If you're getting data from a device, it's communicating in one way or another.
You might not be using an rj cable and not have li set on the inverter, but...
I don't think shipping from Australia will work for you.
We have the highest freight charges of any developed country.
We also have the highest retail prices too.
Sometimes you can get a deal though.
So you should be able to in your country. The buying power is 1000 fold there.
Well we have critter guards here.
They cover the panels entirely.
Too many possums and rodents chewing on 500v PV wires.
They make nests etc in amongst panels for the warmth. These are probably some type of deterrent, possibly incomplete with no side guards.
Mine does. It gets woken up at 6am when voltage rises.
Inverter is off at this time.
Battery is charging.
Works for me irrespective of charge state or conditions from the day before.
It will wake up the battery at 0%-100%.
What would be the point of the device if it didn't wake up upon...
Bingo.
The SCC should wake the battery up when it sees enough voltage, for you know, charging.
Imagine having to manually turn on the inverter every morning, missing generation if you got up at 9am instead of 6am.
Makes no sense whatsoever, and is not how these devices are intended to run...
Hi all,
What an awesome forum and, Will you are the man. Once I found your videos the others became irrelevant!
Just looking for a sanity check for my final build, specifically breakers.
I'm in Australia to get things started.
This is a portable build, not hard mounted.
I have these...
Check.
Battery metal case to AC in ground.
Says to connect everything, breaker on and then turn the battery on with the switch.
Simple enough lol.
Another thing I have completely confused myself with too much reading and too many different takes from different sources.
Panel grounding. I...
Yes.
That doesn't sound right at all.
Even with clouds you should have some current with over 200v of panels.
Mine gets woken with very low wattage coming in, the inverter reports single digit numbers early in the morning. As soon as solar is over the inverter draw it starts charging even if...
