How should I configure 16 LiFePO4 cells in series for 48V in tight space?

Agreed. Unfortunately the space between the top of my keel and cabin floor is about 4 inches; ditto for under the settees. I'll post a picture when I get them set up.

How should I configure 16 LiFePO4 cells in series for 48V in tight space?

Thank you. Two banks of 8 cells stacked on their sides makes the wiring simpler. And I already have end plates and bars to hold them together. I had them that way originally but they didn't fit in the deep locker sitting upright. I didn't consider just tipping them over one on the other:rolleyes:

How should I configure 16 LiFePO4 cells in series for 48V in tight space?

I have a tiny cruise capable sailboat converted from diesel to electric motor Motoenergy ME0201013601, max consumption 2500W at 48V. I am moving the batteries to a deep rear storage compartment accessible from both an overhead water tight hatch and a quarter berth. Very difficult but doable...

Finally found a LiFePO4 BMS with Low-temp Charging Protection

:) Thanks for helping me. I read the horse to water exchange. Funny in its way but I understand. Very hard to find errors in one's own code. Agreed, search feature isn't great but never thought of using Google plus 'diysolarforum'. Will experiment with that. Time to get off the machine and go...

Finally found a LiFePO4 BMS with Low-temp Charging Protection

Thank you. I am currently struggling to arrange my cells in a newly identified space on the boat. The space is triangular, deep in a stern storage well accessible (barely) from the cabin. That stern storage has a well sealed overhead hatch also. Configuring 48V in a triangular space may be very...

Finally found a LiFePO4 BMS with Low-temp Charging Protection

Thanks for the reply. I actually have a 48V 16s BMS which I obtained a few years ago but it isn't working properly and it doesn't have low temp protection so I have to remove the cells over the winter to protect them or disconnect the solar panel which is my charging source. That BMS was sold...

Finally found a LiFePO4 BMS with Low-temp Charging Protection

If I used multiple 12V packs in series how would the BMS interact with the Android App? Would I need to run four differently named copies of the same app or can the bluetooth connection pick which pack to look at and therefore control?

Finally found a LiFePO4 BMS with Low-temp Charging Protection

Sorry again. The 2500 W is approximately 52A and the sum of other consumers on my boat (radio, depth indicator, old chart plotter, navigation lights) is about another 50 W. So I was planning on a max of 100A.

Finally found a LiFePO4 BMS with Low-temp Charging Protection

Sorry I am just finding your reply now. Could you paraphrase your question? Are you asking what the motor draws? If so, it draws 2500W max but much much less at slower speeds which is my intention. This usage chart is from someone else with this motor and a 29 foot sailboat.

Finally found a LiFePO4 BMS with Low-temp Charging Protection

My calculations - max output from motor 2500W @ 48V 52A which will be used rarely, most of the time under 1500W VHF radio, small GPS, LED running lights, depth sounder estimated at 50 - 100W @12V 10A?

Finally found a LiFePO4 BMS with Low-temp Charging Protection

Repowering my pocket cruiser sailboat(21 ft) with 48V electric inboard, 16S LiFePO4 cells. Battery Hookup is not ordering any 16S versions. I went to the link you posted for your BMS but can't figure out which if any would meet my needs here in New England. Bluetooth Android for setting params...

Please elaborate . I don't understand these terms. Perhaps links to examples? Thanks for sharing what you know.
