I have installed a DIY solar system at our remote offgrid cabin. 12 V system with 10 100 amp/hr eliminator solar lead acid AGM batteries (in parallel). 2 x 170 watt solar panels (in parallel). Amazon MTTP charge controller. We have also added a small wind generator with its own separate charge controller. We have a 1000w eliminator inverter.
Current or Future Solar Power System
We are upgrading to 48v system and moving to Victron compnonents and 3 x 410w solar panels. Victron system will be 3kva multiplus inverter charger, 150/60 MTTP Charge Controller, smart shunt and dongle and Lynx Dist Bar. Panels will be installed ~ 250ft away from cabin on a hillside (much better light) vs on the side of the cabin. We will try to use 8 (two strings 48 v) of the exisitng lead acid AGM batteries but plan to upgrade to LI Fe in the near future.
