Ok guys here are thé measures:
Multimeter 14.14v
Bms 14.2v
Victron 14.6v
The victron is faulty or ??
Mike I prefer to charge to 14.5 because at 13.6 it's like 95% and I'd like to use my battery to the max.
Thanks
Edit
Oh man it worked, as soon as I turned the discharge on the victron...
By Input you mean the panels? And output the battery?
If so then it's fine I will only get 6A max at input.
Pollenface, yep I know but I have a limited budget, and all in all I know my panels wont produce much more than 200w so I dont think it is a useful expense for me.
hi thanks for your reply. The battery is still new I didn't use it a lot I've just finished preparing my van and started playing with it :)
I will wait for the cells to reach 3.5v to see what happens then.
For the balancing advice thank you. I didnt know there were a risk if we start the...
Hi
I have 3 x 100W panels in series on my Van's roof (to charge a 12v lifepo4), each panel can produce between 5-6A current at 18v. So it means I can produce between 15 and 18A max.
As you know the victron 75-15 is limited to 15A, but it would be great if I could reach say 16 or 17A... Is it...
Well generally people in the campervan community are cool and don't do things like messing up with someone else's bms since they know how important it is, so let's hope for the best :)
Thank you very very much for all these informations, I learnt more reading your message than watching many videos on the subject! I will dig more about all of this, and use what you said and a great starting base thanks again.
Oh yes nice find ! Thanks.
I put 3100, as I dont know what else to put so the average between the 2 values should be ok.
Ok let's hope overkill software is better than xiaoxiang then.
In fact all the values are messed up if you look at it. They filled in themselves after I installed the app. I guess they were saved in the bms from xiaoxiang. And since in xiaoxiang we can only put values for 20;40;60;80% I think overkill added the other 10;30;50;70 randomly ?
Edit : I...
Hi
Today I was parked next to another van, and while i was checking my SOC with the overkill app I could also see another bms on my phone via bluetooth (the van owner's one I presume). Which means I could make modifications on his bms, and they could do the same with mine from their phone...
They recommend charging to 3.4v... ie 13.6v
From a comment under the video : Based on what I've read, LiFePo4 can withstand up to 4.2 volts before it starts to degrade. It's the charging to HIGH SOC that is harmful, not the voltage
....
Anyway 14.5v is fine by me, many people using this...
Yes in series currents don't add.
Ok to be sure, the 15A limit of the victon is it for the panels current (in my case 6A) or for the battery current (in my case could be more than 20A theoretically) ?
If it is for the panels then I'm good so I can get more than 20A to my battery.
If it is for...
Thanks for your replies.
I have a shunt but it only counts Ah during discharge, not during charge, I wasn't aware of this when I bought it, it's one-way only.
Also the BMS is doing good while estimating the Ah while discharging (using) the battery, this behaviour doesnt happen.
I did a...
Thanks for your reply.
If the apple app supports a password then it's a software issue not hardware ? The bms is the same in both case of apple or android, if we can set a password with apple it should be able to set one on android too.
Thanks for the reminder about the search function I'm going...
Thanks for your help guys.
Distance between the battery and the mppt is about 30cm. Cable gauge is 10awg. I added an ANL fuse on the positive wire.
I will measure the voltage with a multimeter when I get back home and update, thanks
Hi,
Sorry for the confusing title, but in short I have a 200Ah lifepo4 battery, as you can see on the pic it is charging fine via my solar panels and dcdc, but the JBD bms shows the remaining capacity doesn't increase anymore.
It shows 100% but the remaining capacity should increase as the batt...
Hi,
I'd like to compare both of them is it possible to use them simultaneously or should I have to uninstall one to work with the other to avoid conflicts? Thanks
Yes maybe. I think it makes this noise depending on the position the compressor stopped in, in the previous run.
Yep, it is sitting in it's normal position. I didn't shake it but I kind of give it a big tap with my hand and heard this bell ring while doing this.
Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
Yes I have solar panels and plenty of energy. I'd like to switch off the fridge during the night because sometimes when the compressor starts it makes a big noise that wakes me up. It lasts only a fraction of second but loud enough to wake me up. Hopefully...
Hi,
I have a vevor 12v 25 liter portable fridge.
Sometimes when the compressor starts it makes a big noise that wakes me up during the night. It lasts only a fraction of second but loud enough to wake me up. Hopefully it doesn't do it each time the compressor starts. I'd say it makes the noise...
Hi guys thank you very much for your replies.
My battery is a 200ah one.
I think the bms doesn't show under 1ah consumption, I have to do some tests I only tried with usb lights . I think I also tried with a phone charging and saw nothing on the bms, but I can't recall well, have to do it again
Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
I didn't open the fridge yet, a bit afraid to break something, but I guess that's the only solution to find the cause.
Hello, the fridge came with the AC outlet and the 12v cigarette outlet, I'm using the latter in my van. My lifepo4 battery is almost always full. I'll try to open it to see what's wrong inside.
thanks for joining the conversation. Mine never did it while stopping, only some times when starting...
Yes I put 200 in the settings, i don't know why it shows 200.81 now. Strange. Anyway it should charge until this value then. From the moment i posted the message, it has now increased to 199.84 so i guess it is still charging but a bit slower than when it is discharged.
Thank you much for...
Hi,
Edit: ok I found the problem, bad contact between one of the bms wires and a cell.
I built a 4s 200A lifepo4 (lichen cells) with a 100A jbd bms.
The cells came balanced from alibaba, each at 3.30v more or less.
I put everything together, everything was fine and I got correct data on the...
Hi,
Sometimes when I deactivate the discharge by toggling the button on my JBD BMS (with the xiaoxiang android app), the cursor slides but it does not take it into account and you can still power stuff. And sometimes it is ok. Other times, I do it at night and it's fine for a few hours but in...
Well I have a little fridge running continuously in the van but it doesn't need too much energy, maybe something like 2 or 3Ah (vevor 25L). So i don't know if this fits the criteria of "constant load on the battery".
Also, a question I've never seen replied to is, since both 14v and 14.4v mean...
Well I was surprised too but in fact it is quite cool because the fridge is located in a place in my van that is not convenient to reach so the bluetooth is welcome.
Hi,
I read if we modify something in the app setup, no matter what it is, the app will kind of reset the bms so it will forget all the data it gathered previously to make an accurate guess of the battery SOC. Is it true?
I'd like to lower the max voltage value, I think it's called Pack...
Thanks guys for the help
I won't have any shading most of the time so series is the best setup for me.
6A is the max I will get at 18v so for 3 panels I'll get 6A at 54v.
The victron 15/75 is fine since it's for 15A at 75v, or I am missing something ?
Then since I have a 12v battery it means a...
That's what I thought, that's bad.
Ok then, if my battery is 99% charged, it means I will only have to charge it a little 1% so the bms can give accurate soc again?
Thanks for your help.
I use the app with bluetooth to disconnect the fridge during the night, to avoid the hassle of unplugging it. Since I don't use any other device during the night it was more convenient for me to cut the discharge from the bms, from my bed.
Hi,
Sorry for the confusing title. In fact as you can see on the pics below, my cells are around 3.35v on average, which corresponds to a capacity between 70% and 80% according to what is set up in the bms config.
Then why the SOC is showing 99%?
Thanks
Hi,
Let's say if I plug an usb light or something small like this, my bms still shows zero Ah consumed.
I think everything under 2 or 3Ah is not shown.
Does it mean if I let an usb light plugged during one month, the displayed battery SOC will still be at 100%? (Whereas we all know the battery...
Thanks for your reply.
Do you know if charging the battery at 14.5 let it stay longer at 100% than charging it at 14.2?
This 0.3v gap may w represents 1 hour at 100%? Don't know...
If it means nothing then probably 14.2 is enough.
Also when you say
I don't understand, do you mean I have to...
Hi,
I have a 200Ah lifepo4 and I always have this problem. Let's say it is at 120Ah, then I charge it (either with solar panels or dcdc charger), it charges fine but when it reaches around 145Ah it jumps to 200Ah almost immediately as you can see on the screenshot.
Why does it behave like...
Yes there are less than 10mv between each cell, I set it up like this. I've switched to overkill and will use it for a few days.
I miss the graph feature of the xiaoxiang app, overkill doesn't show any graph. How will I know if this jump in capacity occurs while charging the battery ??
Thanks, will do this.
Also I edited my post after you replied ... so now I won't be able to see any capacity jump since I dont have any graph anymore ?
That solves the problem in a way lol
Also, when I make a change in the values on the overkill app, I click on save config and then there is a button flashing saying "bms write" so I clicked on it. Do I have to do this everytime I change a value ? I mean clicking both on Save config and Bms write? Otherwise the modification won't...
Hi,
My victron 75/15 shows 14.5v while my jbd bms shows 14v. I guess the bms shows the correct voltage.
It's a problem because I'd like to charge my lifepo4 battery with my solar panels until it reaches 14.5v but since the victron already shows 14.5 it goes on float mode and doesn't charge...
I am charging the battery with the dcdc (20A). It is now at more than 14v and the overkill app still indicates 70%... it should be 100%?
Charging voltage by the dcdc is also reducing more and more, meaning it detected the battery is almost full. So why the overkill app is telling 70%?
Here...
