I totally agree with you, I didn't want to install gas but a simple cheap set up may be required until I run for a while on solar and understand the limitations and future equipment requirements! I encountered the same issue on the boat, 2 weeks at anchor in a very remote location during very...

Fantastic help, really appreciate this and everybody elses replies. "Power Nazi" my wife is definitely going to call me that lol. You're right though the coffee machine takes 30 mins at 1600w just to warm up! At least I have an idea on equipment and specs to start firming up though. We will be...

Thanks DJ/Steve I can't get Battleborns over here so I went with Sterling as they seem top of the tree stuff for us. I see they are sold in the US too. I'll lower the Victron CV to 14v and see how that goes. Thanks again guys
  • Post in thread: High cell voltage disconnect issue

Cool, set the CV at 14.0v now and tail current at 6A (120AH battery). Quick question, tail current is set for just 1 battery in the bank isn't it? I've got 2 in parallel (240AH). I don't need to double the tail current to 12A do I? It's all on charge now, will let you know how it goes (y)

Hi Mike Both batteries are brand new, less than a week old and you are spot on, the SOC readings on both are wildly out as the BMS does not register any current out below 5A! Sterling technical support UK have been very helpful but have not offered replacements. I don't really use the Daly app...

Morning team, I am just about to complete on a barn purchase and start the many years long conversation work hopefully turning it into a totally off grid living situation. Im not new to solar installation as I lived on a boat for 5 years. I installed a 12v LFP victron system in her and it...
  • Post in thread: High cell voltage disconnect issue

Hi guys, first post so go easy on me :) OK, just installed 2 new 120ah Sterling (parallel connected) Lithium batteries and charging via a Victron Smart Phoenix 50 amp charger on its dedicated Lithium setting. Its bulk CV is 14.2v but as its talking to my Victron BMV 712 smart via Bluetooth...
  • Post in thread: High cell voltage disconnect issue

Hi DJ Thanks for your reply I see what you mean with regards to higher CC results in slightly higher out of balance. I turned the CC down to 25 amps and the balance diff was only around 0.002v It's always cell 3 on both BMS that seems to run away at the final stage of charging. I'm more...

Hey Steve, thanks for the detailed help, much appreciated Here's the link to the Sterling batteries https://sterling-power.com/products/lithium-batteries?variant=50407892309 According to the spec sheet supplied, they should be charged between 14.4v and 14.6v. My Victron Phoenix default...
  • Post in thread: Brand new set up from scratch, what would you do?

I did contemplate this but like the boat I had a semi constrained budget and adapted my life style to fit the system performance. I thought the same here in that €15k will get me up and running with a system that I can expand on as I go and more funds become available and a much better...
  • Post in thread: Brand new set up from scratch, what would you do?

I have a Fogstar 12v battery set up in the boat so did have a look at the Fogstar 30kwh, good spot. My initial plan, very rough idea though, was 6kw of panels, Quattro and MPPTs as you identified. Can emergency charge the batteries via the Honda for time being. I thought this route would be...
