All came today, 100% condition. Haven't measured anything yet, just the visual inspection of cells. From the date of order to delivery 13 days total.
Voltage update, all cells are 3.282 V, every single one exact the same voltage, almost unbelievable.
Yes in my PC builds I only use Noctua and I replaced fans in other equipment around the house with Noctua fans, I love them. I have one still sitting in its package, ready to install in my Icom 7300 rig when the warranty runs out. Those AC Infinity look good as well.
So, regarding EVO, I just...
I second that , Amy answered my chat questions just before midnight their time, I received pictures of my cells, so far I'm more than satisfied with the whole process. She really cares. Hopefully everything arrives here without damage and works as promised.
I just did some testing with this inverter, it is Giandel 2000/24V , it's awful , very noisy, it's going back where it came from. For people not concerned with RF noise it might be ok, but for anyone having a RF sensitive equipment at home, or any HAM radio operators, stay away from it. It's...
Selling my charger controller that I purchased brand new and used for about 6 months. I upgraded to a higher voltage unit and I won't be needing this one. It's in perfect condition, not a scratch.
Asking $300 and I'll ship within lower 48 states.
I'm in Charlotte area and I could deliver...
Maybe a regular lock washer? I don't know, I've never used it in mobile application. I'm not sure I would worry too much even with regular screws though.
Or this type (called Nord lock)...
Good Morning,
I currently have 12V system which I'm going to upgrade to 24V with more capacity. My Sun Extender AGM batteries are getting to the end of life after almost 10 years and I will go to LiFePO4 now. I'm strongly thinking those new CALB cells , I would get 16 of them and make a 24V...
Just out of curiosity, how soon after dispatch have you been able to track your orders in your country (or continent) . My order is coming to US with Fedex, left on 2/26 by air and Fedex still doesn't show any tracking data. Just shows "tracking number can not be found..."
Naaah, no one is being dramatic, people are just stating their opinions and observations. Nothing wrong with that. No reason to get all worked up about it.
Yes, the new ones are $350+ , most people pay tax on top of it.
Also, some people confuse Smart Solar with cheaper Blue Solar models, it's not the same. Smart solar has Bluetooth built in, also feature to attach display module.
Previously I had a VertaMax 12V/2000W "pure sine", what a junk that was. VEEERY noisy not just with RF, but the fans were so loud and turning ON so often you could not talk in the room. It stopped working after about a year and went out with a fire inside. I'm glad I was in the room and was able...
When you talked to her about it, did you talk about some extra space for different kinds of BMS people have? Hopefully those cases accommodate BMS as well.
This controller is for sale, never used, just updated firmware. I changed my mind and I need to go to higher voltage unit.
Price is $700. You're saving about $150 , they sell for just under $800 + tax.
I can split shipping cost in lower 48 states.
I could probably also do an exchange for 250/70...
With 5S I'm at 105V max, monitoring for 2 days now, I'm thinking adding one more shouldn't top 135 -140V in any condition.
Btw. , what happens to the Victron controller if 150V are exceeded, even if just for a quick spike ? Is it done? Cooked? Ready for new one ? :)
(it's probably somewhere in...
As far as I know, the guy that first posted about these 280Ah cells here have them installed on his boat , he tested capacity and all is working great and within specs. I'm sure there are shady sellers on Alibaba or Aliexpress doing all kinds of gymnastics with the products, but it seems these...
Ok, sorry if I hijack this post into relay question territory again. I went over this thread and this is my conclusion, please correct me if I'm wrong. The purpose of BMS is managing cells and protection of battery overall. Over-charge protection cuts off the SCC (or other charging means) and...
I sure like M6 more, but this is where I'm getting M4, http://www.dcmax.com.tw/LF280(3.2V280Ah).pdf 6mm is the depth, per this document.
Or am I lookig at the wrong file?
Thank you, even better. I was little worried about the diameter there, I'm glad there is an updated document with the change on this. I guess at some point they used M4... M6 is much better at this capacity.
The Charge relay has to be able to handle the maximum amperage that could be pushed through during charging from your charge sources. SCC, Inverter/Charger &/OR AC to DC LFP Charger if you have one.- Correct, so if my SCC can push 60A max., that's why I'm thinking 100A relay on that side should...
Hello All,
I currently have 24V battery bank , it is 8 EVE 280Ah cells, I have about 30 cycles into it, not much. I decided to double it and make it a 24V 560Ah bank. But I'm looking at Lishen 280Ah cells, mainly because of price. I'm hoping they are close enough in parameters so it won't matter...
Hello
I'm currently using 8 12V panels, where 4 of them are connected to create 48V array, so total 2x48V in parallel.
I think I might have enough space to add 2 more panels, so here is my question. Can I just add 1 of the each new panels to my 48V array, so I'll have 2 arrays at 60V ? My...
Looking at Victron app, the V max for this array today was 116.07V, that's the highest of the week. Adding another panel would be getting close, but still safely under 150V I think. I'm not planning on risking it, I'll most likely make two 36V arrays from 6 panels to be safe. But just...
Hello,
I'll be expanding my battery bank to double the capacity. I wonder what is the best way to wire it. Currently I have 8 cells at 280Ah (EVE cells) with one BMS of course. If I add 8 more cells to keep it 24V, can I just make it one bank and use one BMS? I'm thinking about going 2 cells in...
Wattage doesn't matter in this scenario, 100W, 150, or 200W, controller will handle it, they are all the same wattage, same brand same model. These happen to be 200W panels. Controller will charge up to 60A, if it gets more power, it will just cap it at 60A, so I'm not worried. The brand is MS...
That round bubble, that is just the air under the black tape right? When you press on it, it should go down. I don't think it is aluminum body of cell. Unless I'm wrong.
Is it financially worth 3D printing cases for these packs? I suppose you use a lot of filament that is not exactly cheap. Unless you just like to play with it and cost is not an object. I'm thinking making my case out of either solid wood or plywood, we'll see.
Based on your dates I should see the tracking status moving any day now, hopefully soon.
For case, I'm thinking some type of wood, maybe combined with aluminum angles for corner/edges reinforcement, I'll see what I find laying around, I think there is some kind of plexi glass in the garage as...
If there is a video with 2x8 cells, I'll certainly watch, might take a while to find it :-).
I'm also thinking, if I buy 200Ah cells, I'll need just 8 of them and no need to go parallel for 24V bank.
Thank you for your input. I just wish there was a decent 200A and above BMS for 8S at 24V with BT monitoring. I purchased recently HEYO 8S smart BMS and I think that thing is dead. Can't activate it and it shows wrong voltage. I'm afraid to buy another Smart BMS and waste another $200 or more. I...
I'm not sure this was ever discussed here, most likely yes. But I'll ask anyway, I can't seem to find much about this.
I have two Victron Smart controllers MPPT 150-35, identical units and I'd like to connect my array that brings about 50-60 amps into it as 1 array. I don't want to split it and...
Speaking of Battleborns, I wonder if prices of these cells bring down Battleborns down a little in the near future. The difference is just huge, even all other factors considered, having BMS built in, assembled battery, customer support etc... There is just no reason for someone with a little...
I just checked 200Ah cells, there are blue , black, maybe some others? I think they are all Sinopoly brand. I'm not sure if some are better than others, the shape and size is the same, price similar. Also different places to get them. But I think I'll go 200Ah. If I ever switch this to 12V...
I've been using Overkill solar 100A BMS, but recently I had to change it to my older Daly 200A (no Bluetooth monitoring) because I was getting really close to 100A and a few times over that limit. I do anticipate more load, that's why I'm doubling my bank. But I do relly like the capability to...
Haaah, yeah I wish I was this cheater and had access to all the machines, but I don't, I work remotely from home so I rely on the hand tools in my garage. And I don't even have a table saw, so who's the cheater now ?
But I'm pretty handy with what I have , so a battery box is a piece of cake...
That's the reason I posted this post, to have people with different opinions chime in. I'm trying to find a best solution. Adding another BMS is not that bad, if I go with another Overkill, it would increase my load capability to 200A, solving my issue. It just seems simpler to go with one bank...
Right now I'm looking at $225 +shipping and taxes for 1 200Ah cell (black plastic), so the whole bank 24V at 200Ah will cost me about $2040 or so total.
What I'm doing right now is really just a temporary solution to quickly connect the inverter to the batteries before the proper size resistor arrives over the weekend. So I'm trying to "wing it" with what I have at hand right now. Later on I may or may not build the disconnect switch with the...
Are those Aluminum cells reliable? They do cost less, I'm just not sure about quality and consistency. My charge controller is MorningStar Solar MPPT60. Charges up to 60 amps.
With new updates to Samlex PST line they made it easier as they mounted the green wire terminals on the face for this purpose. I had an older Samlex PST 2000/12 that only had a 2 position ON/OFF switch and on that one I just wired it inside, still worked great. So on the new ones this will be a...
I don't plan to discharge them drastically, I'm aiming for a long term with these. If I discharge 60-70%, I should be ok with 400Ah pack. They should last a long time this way. Occasionally I might discharge more, but it's not a plan.
So if you don't mind me asking, what is the difference between CATL and CALB cells, ? Why is there a price difference that is considerable? I sure don't want to overpay, but I also like saying, pay once, cry once. I'm not after the cheapest product out there, I want some quality that will last...
Ok great, thank you. I'll give it a try, maybe tonight. Would you say holding it to pre-charge for about 20-30 seconds with this 10 ohm piece should be enough? I can't hurt anything if I hold it longer for the very first time, if anything it just gets warmer or hot, right? That goes back to...
That sucks, similar thing happened to me several times with Amazon drivers delivering my packages to other people in the neighborhood, but mostly smaller items and they were replaced quickly. This coming from China, what a mess.... Hope they find out what happened and package gets back to your...
I will create a new battery and connect them in parallel, I like the option of having one working while one is in maintenance, or can be used somewhere else etc etc...
So those 280Ah CATL cells from your link, are those A or B cells? I have to say I like the total price, it's a substantial saving. Almost $800 less overall and I would have more capacity in the battery.
It ended up they are not available and they offered me a different brand, same size and same capacity, so I took it. Rept brand or something like that. Looks like Eve cells are not that easy to find, or maybe I haven't looked hard enough.
I completely understand, TBH I'm kind of on the same boat, it still seems too good to be true to have a 24V / 280Ah battery for $1100 (especially with this chemistry) . So far I'm really satisfied with the process, but the ultimate test will be when the cells arrive and I put them to work.
Hi, I put together my 8S, 280Ah 24V battery (LiFePo4). All cells when they arrived were a perfect match and are still now at 3.284V each cell. I wonder if I should just connect BMS and be done with it or I should bottom balance them before use. Any opinions on that?
Thank you.
It is winter here and this is probably as cold as it gets here, with 5 panels I'm stable at 95-98V, occasionally jumping to 105. Maybe I'll give it a try with the 6th one. And if it fails, I'll have a reason and excuse to buy a new controller :). I'll probably go for the biggest one , 250/100...
Only reason, for now, is not wanting to add another set of long wires to another array. If I add a sixth panel and voltage gets dangerously high, I'll split it into 3+3 panels into 2x 36V arrays, this should max my 150/35 controller at around noon. I'll still have one set of wires going to it...
Ok, that's what I thought but I wanted confirmation from someone else.
When you pair two cells into 2P and assemble the bank to 2P8S, does it matter where exactly is the lead from BMS connected to each 2P cell? My logic (maybe incorrect) tells me that exactly in the middle of buss-bar joining...
Interesting, one thing that Amy mentioned it happened during shipping while you can see them on the pictures before shipping, the other that you have not questioned those bubbles seeing it on pictures before shipping. I think if you would have asked for replacement before they were shipped out...
I understand what VOC is, and if charge controller is capturing and logging the highest voltage during charging, then my method of measuring should be correct. Where I lost you is when you're telling me I should measure the highest voltage disconnected from the charger. What do I achieve by it...
Well, I'd like to have some good options for monitoring each cell, web, perhaps bluetooth (not a must). But I'd also like to have a flexibility to use it either on 24V or 12V system, if it's even possible. Would you mind posting some links to a specific product you have in mind?
Thank you Steve, for extra picture too :) . Now, I'm assuming the absorb time is relative to the rate of charge, correct? I see you state up to 15 minutes, but I'm guessing that would differ with different amperage coming into the battery. As far as float, is it true that it could harm the...
I'm selling my EVO 4024 inverter/charger. Shortly after I bought it I decided to go to 48V system and I purchased 48V split phase unit. This 4024 inverter was in service for about 2-3 months total under very light load. You're basically buying a new unit. I kept it as a back up since I thought...
Ok, I ordered one of the Chargery 8T as well, besides another BMS https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32966608058.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.718e4c4dS0vPqI
I'll play with both and see which one I'll keep. I'm sure it won't be hard to sell one of them if needed, or I'll keep it as a backup.
I know this is an old thread, but I do have a question here, since I'm in the similar situation. Could you use let's say JK BMS with 16S wiring to each cell in 2P8S setup as the picture shows? For better cell management monitoring each cell, not just each set of 2 cells. The picture shows 8...
I wish my battery was ever full after a day of charging. But regardless, it only climbs to a point. And that's what the this whole discussion is about, finding that point of max VOC. With 5 and 6 panels.
That's great, thank you for spreading the word, I'm really glad to hear your cells are working as expected. If the prices remain this way, it really is a game changer for many people. I was ready to shell out well above $2k for 300-400Ah 12V battery. I wish I could put up more solar panels, I...
Hello,
Does anyone know of any quality inverter with low or non existing interference with my HAM radio equipment ? So far most of them I tested (mostly chinese made) produce a lot of noise. Looks like Samlex is one of the better ones, is there anything else on market worth looking at?
The specs...
Interesting discussion. I'm deciding between Evo 2224 and PST 2000-24. Still not sure what to pick. I like the more advanced Surge output power management of EVO, besides other functions that PST doesn't have. It's pretty bulky too, 3 times weight of PST series, which is less appealing, same as...
Don't buy on Amazon, way too much. You can get the 2000W model for less, for example here:
https://www.boatandrvaccessories.com/products/samlex-pst-2000-24-2000-watt-pure-sine-inverter
... or some other places.
But, I would wait until they get in stock the newer models with the green terminals...

I don't think you should worry, resistance is based on capacity as well, and as far as I know it can be even lower than 1 mOhm.
It will only increase with the age...
Those are 12V panels wired to 48V array, so at most I'm getting under 90V (never crossed 85V) , that's so far at least. I don't think voltage would jump over 150V.
I guess I'll have to sell at least one of the smaller ones and go for larger, I wanted to avoid doing this. They are not even a year...

If you don't need it perfect, then I would say about 18-19mm diameter, just judging from the inside 6mm and about the same distance on both sides.
This is all more-less theoretical stuff, I know what I'm supposed to do and what I shouldn't. Just trying to see where I can push it to the limits. Doesn't mean I will. My battery and inverter can feed what I need to feed with power, the panels are the weakest point. I need to squeeze as much as...
Now that changes things. I thought originally that the terminals are M4, based on the old PDF I had, but looks like the new ones are M6. Now you are telling us that 5mm holes in bus bars worked for you? Something is not right here....
I'm transitioning from AGM to this chemistry so please bear with me , although I used these cells in small sizes for RC models etc... So to be 100% clear on this, these cells only really need bulk charging to 3.6V, no need for the absorb or float? I think my MPPT60 can be programmed for custom...
You're right, for whatever unforeseen future expansion it would be better to pick EVO model. The way I'm using my solar system right now is a power backup and also my home office is powered by it. I have a few low current DC devices that run 24/7 and some AC equipment that's plugged in and on...
