diy solar

mattleonard

I had a 4kW solar installed on my house roof (lucky to be a demo/pilot project for a flush-mount racking system), and while I follow energy policy issues, I wanted to know more of the technical aspects.

As a (mostly) former live sound engineer, while I no longer tour or do large productions, I do provide sound reinforcement for occasional rallies, marches, press conferences, or small community events. I wanted to avoid gas generators, so started dabbling in solar generator options. I built a couple home-brew 24v systems to learn, but primarily use various Bluetti systems, as the portabability/form-factor is hard to beat. Currently building a cargo trailer - have (4) SOK 48v Pro server rack batteries, working on inverters/panels next.
