@SignatureSolarJess - Am I wrong for expecting an order of an 18Kpv and a battery to ship the same week as it was ordered? This is 2024, not 1994... I sent my rep a request to cancel the order I made last week if it cannot ship today, as they definitely implied that if I ordered with them right...
OK, new dongle arrived today and set the wifi and got 3 solid LEDs
Also, it is now communicating with 3.101.7.137, the packet captures have quite a bit more data in them, and I have nto had any wonky events since the firmware upgrade and full power reset.
Thanks to everyone for their help!
I finally got mine done and final inspection done, ended up using gezelmanpe.com for my engineering drawings to appease the city (if you want drawings and are in FL, I highly suggest them!) , cost me a couple hundred bucks for that, and another couple hundred for another engineer friend of a...
"We're excited to inform you that your order is being upgraded to the latest version of the EG4 18kPV Hybrid Inverter."
I have to ask, Is this hardware, firmware, or maybe an excuse to delay shipping?
I would think you definitely should have different MPPT's for different facing arrays... but it should not hurt anything if you try for a day or a week, them move them from 1&2 to 2&3, run for an equal time, note the production difference and report it back here.
Good call! the manual shows some EPS settings, but does not talk about the icon, I guess mine being green means I have the feature enabled, whereas here it is grey?
They could definitely use some uniformity of the device GUI to the manual.
I have shown pictures of the cell voltages directly from the batteries, they are not that far off, so balancing is really not the issue, drift in the SOC calibration is the issue... somewhere the inverter was thinking that the batteries had 54% left, but in actuality, the voltage was so low the...
I wish I could get to 57.... I added 18 more 480w panels today, so I get to a reported 100% quicker and staying longer there on my 4 batts, I am trying the 108% "System Charge SOC Limit(%)" value and see if it helps.
This is when it has been at 100% for an hour..
Batt1 - 55.92 (min3.456...
I have the anker and it works fine for PC and high power stereo, but my netgear POE switches and Cisco C1111 router do not like the 767/2000 as a UPS...
55.5v seems a long way from 57v. I take it to 25% nightly and that is reading 51.9V (3.249min-3.251max), what definition of 'full discharge' voltage are you saying to do? EG4 18kPV seems to have a limit of 20% minimum SOC.
I am assuming the BMS protection will protect the battery if any cell...
LCD 'Reset/Restart' does not reset the settings to the factory defaults, it just reboots the inverter operating system.
Unfortunately, I believe that either my dongle is bad, or that info is now outdated with the hardware I received this week (not sure if it has anything to do with the email I...
same, I tried several sequences as you did, and also holding it in when inserting... nothing seemed to produce visible results... the firmware update I did I think just did the 18kPV, and did not update anything in the dongle. well, the dongle no longer appears to be open on port 4000 so not...
I installed my 18kpv and indoor battery this week (PV not installed yet) as a battery backup with zero export, and set AC charging to 20A, and not sure what happened, but out of the blue, I hear the inverter fans kick on high speed and the display shows the inverter pumping 6 or 8kw out to the...
Any thoughts on a flat roof array with alternating East and West facing rows to allow near zero inter-row spacing? Just enough of a gap to allow rain and debris drainage where the low parts met. The array would utilize ironridge 10" tilt legs to achieve a 5 degree tilt angle, and complete, look...
How hard is it for SS to buy a few hundred of each of the connectors for us to buy and use the extra unfinished end cables that come with our batteries to make proper connectors for our installs to look nice? no, we do not want the set of 2 connectors, we want JUST THE "ESP-250A-70-BK-00" for a...
The factory-included CT's are placed inside the 18kPV with the arrows that say 'to inverter pointing up towards the terminal blocks of the inverter. If the CT's were wrong, it would be wrong 100% of the time... it is not, it is 'occasionally' draining power to the loads and/or the grid when...
yes
yes, about 1-1.5kw, lights, PC's and networking eq (on UPS) and mini-split
yes, 1 indoor battery connected, jumper cable for my 2nd battery is in the mail.
SOC
I did confuse max charge with max ac charge in the beginning, and in the beginning they were 'default'. I believe they are now...
My 18kpv+batt bundle, ordered directly from Sig, not soverign, is getting delivered today, 16 days from order to delivery. 8 to get the order ready and 8 for Fedex Freight to deliver. Interestingly, a 2nd battery was ordered 7 days in and arrived yesterday via R&L carriers.
please read my post: "we do not want the set of 2 connectors, we want JUST THE "ESP-250A-70-BK-00" for a reasonable price... "
I am not missing parts, and I don't want to purchase the 'kit' with both parts and have to save or discard them, and I am fairly certain >90% of customers do not want...
the 1200w pump kit sold on amazon/ali/etc have a DC motor and a MPP and will do what you want... ( google: Solar Swimming Pool Pump 1200w )
That being said, the same panels, if hooked to an existing PV system, and you ran a typical 220v VS pump, it would draw 1200-1600w for a minute while...
Thank you! They were also recommended by a friend in SoCal. I did not get a response from their branch in Sarasota when I reached out a few months ago, I will try again. I assuming that by 'tesla', you are referring to solarcity? Yes, I have friends that used them, an installed project at that...
I did reach out to SS support and they said to put it in lead-acid mode for 7-10 days... I am doing this now, but also want to follow the SOC recalibration in the published guide.
Here are the settings to try to get 4 indoor batts to hit the 2.5 and 3.7v alarms, 40/59.5.
a couple days ago, when i tried, it gave a few lines of unreadable characters after a few minutes. today, when i try, there is no connection, not sure if it the firmware update or what...
Thank you so much, that is exactly the kind of info that helps!
FYI - my version of dongle has a reset button where I put the red dot, and I cannot see any FCC ID info, which is unusual.
Just upgraded my 18kPV to FAAB-2122 to prepare to add my parallel unit, did it remotely from 2 miles away, it seems like it did 2 downloads, the last reboot was a bit longer than the first one. really hoping the parallel will allow seamless upgrades...
I have 4 indoor batts on my 18kPV, worked fine for many months until last night. Yesterday I upgraded inverter/LCD firmware to prepare to add parallel unit. I also lowered the "On-Grid Cut-Off SOC(%)" to 30% from 70%.
I woke up to see a red battery indicator on the monitor page, the first batt...
I have the china one as 120.79.53.27, I can use the 'dongle connect' feature in the app to change between Asia, Europe, Africa, and North America.
Using the EG4 app (v1.3.5) and my Cisco router to view the traffic:
Android App --> Dongle Connect --> Set With Bluetooth --> <select my dongle> -->...
Thanks! I will check today at a higher charge, but when the battery read 5% during my test above, the individual voltages were pretty close, within 3mV..
The batteries are on their first trip this low, they are at 5% now, and showing 50.48v. Per the "EG4®-Indoor-280Ah-Battery-Quick-Start-Guide.pdf" manual, the BMS will shut off at 44.8v, which is 2.8V, so 2.7V is impossible to reach unless there is a cell unbalanced.
At 3%, the lowest cell in...
So I made the switch to Lead-Acid mode, because "Closed-Loop Voltage" did no better than "Closed-Loop Voltage SOC"...
The voltage displayed instantly jumped from 55.3at 17:05 to 58 at 17:09
WTF?
For giggles, I switched it back to "Closed-Loop Voltage" and the voltage dropped back down...
Really frustrated with shenanigans from ALL resellers... First it was a phone call to vendor A verifying 'in stock', only to have be 'on backorder' 2 days later when I call again to get tracking number... cancelled that order and went to vendor B and ordered... 2 days later : check their...
Any thoughts on connecting one of the 24V 'EG4' battery units to my APC 1400XL as an external battery? Assuming I would need to use the COM port to change the charging profile, but I sure would like a simple rack mount solution for my UPS battery that only lasts 45 min...
not really, it is bouncing on and off very small charge amounts, but 4-5 hours at 100% the next day, and 55.5 is as high as it got..
My min and max cell voltages are now within 0.010 v, so I think the cells are balanced pretty well.
but if I call and they say it is 'in stock', or it takes them 7 days to ship from when they get an order payment for a stocked item, their business will not do as well as a good competitor... Sure it is a 'vendor's market' when the products are in high demand, but when they are not and it is a...
If your RSD switch is accessible to knob-dickers by the nature of it's location requirements, shutting off the whole system is a lot different than shutting off the solar field on the roof... configurability would reduce the number of people disabling an easily pressed button completely.
OK, the battery says 100% on the display and the voltages appear way too low, and they are in standby and the 18kpv was not sending anything to them....
On a whim, I switched to the 'Old Settings Page' and noticed that under 'Lead-acid Battery Setting', Absorb and Float were 55v and 54v... I...
due south if you have a 100% net metering buyback, yes. But if you want to more closely match your usage, and take the goal of independence into consideration , no. I am in FL, where the sun hits the north side of the building at noon, and my AC load is lagging the sun by several hours, due...
How did you pack and strap to the pallet to send back? One of my 18kPV's died and I just got the RMA instructions, I was a bit surprised that something a year old with a 10-year warranty did not have 'advanced replacement'...
If you understand how an MPPT works, you will have identical everything on a string connected to an MPPT.
An MPPT raises and lowers the current draw, which then lowers or raises the voltage on the panel respectively, to get the peak power out of the string. It does this continuously through out...
