@wpns Looks good! That's a pretty clever spacing idea.
@Quattrohead Yep - I'm considering doing 4x9 for my next set of panels. I already built the last ones as a set of 6x6s so those are locked.
Thank you all so much for your responses! You all were a huge help. I was able to build out the system with my wife and move onto our off grid property!
Since I had all the materials on hand, I first built the system out as originally planned - just no combiner box. While it worked great...
Hello DIY Solar friends :)
I have a set up with multiple (6) EG4 6000XP Off Grid inverters. Each inverter will run L1, L2, N, G to the main breaker panel, connected via a back-fed 2 pole 35A breaker.
The inverter closest to the main breaker panel is only 3 feet away. The furthest is 16 feet...
I will post an update when I have the new system up and running to describe how the batteries are balancing, etc, for any future DIYers :) A lot of companies are selling packs with 2 EG4 inverters and 6 EG4 batteries, so I assume other people will be looking for ways to connect 6 EG4 batteries...
Thank you all so much! We are incorporating this into our design. We will combine the combo box & main into a single panel for now and then think about critical loads once we build our real home. We will be adding some class T fuses - thank you. And we will use the internal battery busbar for...
I've been amazed at how much the SOC of my six EG4 WallMount indoor batteries goes down each night - even though I have very little loads. Whose to blame? The six EG4 6000XP inverters sitting above of them!
I've crunched the numbers a few different ways and come to the conclusion that they each...
Its also frustrating that the documentation for these settings does not clearly define what they mean for each of the three scenarios: single inverter, parallel inverters with shared battery bank, parallel inverters each with their own battery (no bat share).
The documentation also doesn't...
Hey fellow DIYers & solar enthusiasts!
I am installing an off-grid solar system for a 1400 sqft home I am currently building. The system will be installed in a metal barn, adjacent to the future home, where my wife and I currently live.
We have:
- 36 x Hyperion 400W Bifacial Solar Panel...
