  • Post in thread: What Would I need to Implement to move Solis to NOT Sending data back to China ?

I have a Solis 3.6kw RHI-3.6K-48ES-5G, that is connected to ye'olde Internet and is 'configurable' by the Manufacturer, looking at the recent posts about Inverters being bricked on mass, Im wondering what I would need to buy / build, to have all the data from the inverter and perhaps some level...
  • Post in thread: Help in getting started with hybrid/off grid. System design.

Think as most folks are saying, for possibly 7 or 8 months of the year, you will be essentially off grid once you have a reasonable solar, inverter and battery setup, but for 3 or 4 months when you really need to heat your home in winter, run a tumble dryer ect then you hit a roadblock vs being...

  • Post in thread: 4 X class solar flares to impact this weekend.

Having read the uk-severe-space-weather-preparedness-strategy.pdf from .Gov, seems they talk about days of grid outage for the main parts of the country and possibly longer for those in coastal areas as there is less grid redundancy.
  • Post in thread: I am making a huge surplus in solar and not even into spring properly yet. What can I use it up on living in van full time?

Some assumptions and some wet finger maths, lets assume April to October, your getting 400w peak for 7 solid hours every day, in the UK we know that's what we might call that a bit of a stretch. 7 Months * 30 days = 210 days. On each of those days your getting 7 hours * 400W, a total of 2.8KWH...

  • Post in thread: Use of 48 V Soalr Panels

Looks like your panels VOC is 49.6, two panels in series will be 99.2, the Charge controller max input VOC is 105, so thats Good. Short Circuit Panel current is 11 amps, and the max rated current of the mppt charger is 60A, so it all looks good, but please wait for some one with far more...
  • Post in thread: Small AGM backup for diesel heater start, vs heated Lifepo4.

I recall you can get relatively cheap 16v Ultra Capacitors, from many different places, I messed with one a while ago, that cost less than £30, and it would deliver 80 amps for about 10 seconds on a 12V load, they have a wide operating temp range also. Only issue was that they are parasitic...
  • Post in thread: Solis 3G 3.8k AC Backup Earthing UK

I have a Solis 5G 3.8K Grid Tied, in the UK, with an AC backup connection, 10KWH of Batteries and 5KW East west facing Solar, all working just fine. The AC backup wasn't wired to anything. As the Inverter, batteries etc are all in the Garage they are literally about 3 feet from our Fridge...
  • Post in thread: Beginning My Energy Storage Journey In The UK!

Sounds like your looking for a Hybrid Inverter, Solis do a range, many others. ITs Technologies have a good website that supply various packages, batteries, or individual items.
  • Post in thread: Heads Spinning a Little

Trying to figure out which GTIL I need. UK based ESE roof, 5KW PV split across both sides Battery - I will build LiFePO4 48V probably 10KWH Primary Ask:- I think as its split across West facing and East facing it would need Dual MPPT minimum Dont want to mess with Canbus etc, so input from...
  • Post in thread: Solis Hybrid Inverter question

All you require can be done from the inverter itself, As @rpdom said, set the charge timing to your over night schedule. I have a Solis 3.6k with Batteries, using Octopus cheap night rates, it all performs exactly as you have requested.
