to clear things up... I'm in Australia, it is a SINGLE phase 240v model built for Australian standards..using a Australian made single phase generator... the power is delivered via 2 wires, active/live and neutral, with a MEN ground system(so 3 wires total)..all of which is connected...

not sure in yanky land, but maybe try a forklift battery distributor... down here in Aus you can pick up a 2nd hand 48v 600ish ah pack for around 5 grand from a reputable dealer ... so 24v smaller packs would/could be available in your area..

anything will outlast poorly maintained anything...

tested 2nd hand, 48v ... new about 7000 ish + with solar you have to " water " your batteries ( I do mine about 5 times a year) and with agm its a pita to do it, where as FLA is easy, heck with forklift cells most have a central watering system.. remember also to thats at the 5 hour rate...

have you tried forklift battery packs, here in Australia you can get a 600-700ah(thats 5 hour rate) FLA 2nd hand, with warranty for around 5 grand... CEIL Australia is a good start...
