Hi,
I'm new to Lithium batteries and I've got a Victron IP22 charger and Wattcycle "12V 100Ah Group 24 LiFePO4 Battery with Bluetooth for Trolling Motors."
With the Victron in its default Li program and charging in the Absorption mode it displays (via bluetooth) 14.2V. However when I...
That makes sense.
Next time I charge I'll check the voltage at the charger too and see what that says.
The cables are 6 gauge and 18" long.
Thanks again.
Hi all,
A couple questions on the above mentioned 300AH, "mini" battery from Watt Cycle, http://tiny.cc/g5t0001
1) Has anybody opened it up (like Will does) to check the quality?
2) Can one assume it's quality will be the same as the 12v, 100AH Watt Cycle Will recently reviewed?

No. I have some idea how to do that but have never done it and am not quite sure how...
Yes, it's done exactly as shown in that Victron manual.

I'm not sure as I've only measured it at a few different SOC but I did see the inconsistency each time measured it.

I can try the "very slow" charging method you mention. I'm out of town for the next two weeks but have both batteries on a bench and my IP22 charger available, so hopefully I'll be able to figure this out when I get back.
Thanks very much for your input!
BTW, I'm assuming it's pretty difficult to open a battery up and attach leads to each cell so I can see what they're doing? I like data a lot but a newbie like me opening up a battery ...seems like it could create problems.
I recently purchased two 12V, 100Ah Wattcycle group 24 "Trolling" batteries with bluetooth.
Ever since I've had them their voltages and charging have been slightly different.
As these are my first LiFe batteries, this may be normal but I don't know so wanted to check.
The first charging was...
Hey Chuck7454,
Thanks a lot for that info I appreciate you taking the time with it. I'm still chewing on it and will watch the videos tonight.
FWIW, the voltage differential is closing up a bit. Here's a couple measurements of the two batteries in the last few days as they sit on my garage...
Yes, they are the terrible Alligator clips and I believe when I grab hold of the battery terminal/Alligator clip assembly, I *might* even be able to feel a little heat from the resistance between the terminal and clip. As these are my first Lithium batteries I'm trying to make sure they get...

Sounds good. I'll get on it when I'm back in a couple weeks...
You're first paragraph is very interesting to me as a newbie ...maybe it's something others are aware of but that's news to me.
I'll try the small load and voltage measurements when I get home tomorrow.
One other question came up. The Wattcycle manual calls for charging with 14.6V. The IP22 charges at 14.2V. Should I change the charge settings to reflect what's called for in the battery manual?
And I forgot to add that when I take my truck out of storage and off the CTEK charger, I change the DC-DC charger settings to allow charging of the truck camper batteries. But the above solutions you provide are better and I'll implement one of them.
Thanks.
